  1. I've just put another of my old VHS videos of the NVR on YouTube. It was taken at a diesel gala in October, 1994 and includes D306 and 58 049. The PW gang are also seen at work fettling the Fletton Loop in readiness for 60009 to visit later that month. Here's the link if you'd like to see it: TTFN, Ron.
  2. Afternoon All, The second part of my video shot at the British Wildlife Centre is now on YouTube. It includes Scottish Wildcats, an American Mink, Stoats and a Polecat. Have a look if you're interested to see it: TTFN, Ron.
  3. I've now put Part 2 of my video taken at Bishops Lydeard last month when BAHAMAS popped in for a visit on YouTube, and this one shows the pair of Manors setting off for the run over the WSR. Here's the link if you'd like to have a look: Hope it's of interest. TTFN, Ron.
  4. We sometimes get phone calls from 'BT' about our broadband. I think 'BT' stands for Bombay Telecoms...

    Wookey Hole.

We didn't have much contact with any staff, but no problems with the few that we did.
  6. Evening All, On our way for a week's holiday in Somerset we stopped off at Wells and visited the caverns at Wookey Hole. I took some video and if anyone would like to have a look, it's here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mb7NW5EmtMI&t=3s TTFN, Ron.
  7. Afternoon All, Whilst on holiday in Somerset, I spent an hour at Brunel's Grade II* listed station in Bridgwater. I had my camera with me... Hope it's of interest. TTFN, Ron.
  8. Evening All, I recently spent a week's holiday in Somerset and by lucky chance the nearby Westonzoyland Pumping Station Museum were having an open day with their engines in steam one day in that week. I was told that that they only open once a year on a weekday, so I was in the right place at the right time - for once! The light railway was also in operation giving rides so I shot a few feet of video of this and if anyone's interested to see it, it's on my YouTube channel: Hope it's of interest. TTFN, Ron.
  9. Evening All, By a lucky coincidence, I was in the area of the Westonzoyland Pumping Station Museum on Wednesday, 18th August which I was told was the one weekday in the year when they are open with engines in steam and operating; normally, they only open on Sundays. So I went along to have a look and shot a bit of video while I was there: Hope it's of interest. More details can be found here: https://www.wzlet.org/ Ron.
  10. There were indeed two Manors: By a lucky coincidence, I was in the area that day, so I went along to Bishops Lydeard to see the train arrive and watch the Manors replace the Jubilee at the front of the train. This is Part One of a two part video that I shot whilst there; Part Two will follow in due course. TTFN, Ron.
  11. Afternoon All, During a holiday in Somerset, we called in to the East Somerset Railway both on the way there and on the way home. I took a few feet of video and the first installment, taken on the first visit, is now on my YouTube channel: Hope it's of interest. TTFN, Ron.
  12. Evening All, A further short video from my trip to Porthmadog in June can now be seen on YouTube. It stars WELSH PONY at Harbour Station and at Three Gates Crossing with PRINCE and BLANCHE in supporting roles. If anyone would like to have a look, it's here: Hope it's of interest. TTFN, Ron.
  13. Evening All, I've just got back from a short holiday in Somerset and one of the places we visited was Brean Beach between Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare. Like Black Rock Sands and Pendine Sands in Wales, it has sand that is firm enough to enable cars to be parked directly on the beach. It's around 6½ - 7 miles long and it has the second highest tidal range in the world, so when the tide goes out, it really does go out! Given good weather it's a splendid place to visit and on a clear day you can see the coast of South Wales across the Bristol Channel. We were unlucky with the weather, but went there anyway. It was grey and windy, but I managed to shoot a few feet of video and if anyone's interested to see what it's like, here's the link: TTFN, Ron.
  14. Morning All, For those living in, or visiting, the south of England, I would suggest a trip to the British Wildlife Centre which is off the A22 between the M25 and East Grinstead. It's like a small zoo, but only housing animals that are found in the British Isles. I went there this week and the first part of a video that I shot whilst there can be seen on my YouTube channel: Hope it's of interest. TTFN, Ron.
  15. This may have been mentioned before (I haven't got time to wade through the previous 46 pages although I'm sure that they're very interesting) but in one of the Endevour episodes Morse is looking for clues on a long disused branch line. Funny that he didn't notice the shiny rails... It was actually the Mid-Hants at Alton, but at the end of this 'long disused branch line', he's seen walking up the ramp and onto the platform at...Quainton Road.
  16. Evening All, If anyone would like to have a look, I've put a couple of 4K videos of BAHAMAS on the 'Dorset Coast Express' yesterday on my YouTube channel. The first one is the full length video and includes the supporting cast of SWR trains as well as BAHAMAS in the starring role. The second one is an edited version with all the modern stuff cut out and it just features the Jub. So you can take your pick! TTFN, Ron.
  17. Evening All, I spent an hour watching the trains at Farnborough on Thursday, and took a few feet of video while I was at it. This is now on YouTube if anyone would like to have a look: Hope it's of interest. TTFN, Ron.
  18. Evening All, Here's a short video featuring WELSH PONY, back in service after 80 years in the sidelines. I'm sure you'll agree that it was worth the wait! TTFN, Ron.
  19. I've now put the second part of this video on YouTube; hope it's of interest: TTFN, Ron.
  20. Evening All, The return journey on the 'Woodland Wanderer' from Tanybwlch to Porthmadog is now on YouTube. It starts with my first sighting of the recently restored 'Large England' WELSH PONY: Hope you like it. TTFN, Ron.
  21. What's not to like about 141Rs! One of my prized possessions is a cabside number plate from a 141R.
  22. Evening All, In August, 1998, I had a holiday in the French Alps and, whilst there, rode on the 'Mont Blanc Express' from St. Gervais-les-Bains Le Fayet in France to Martigny in Switzerland. I took some video of this trip and the first part from St. Gerais to the Swiss border at Le Châtelard Frontière is now on my YouTube channel. So if anyone would like to accompany me through the scenic French Alps, here's the link: Hope it's of interest, TTFN, Ron.
  23. Afternoon All, I have been putting some more photos from my trip to southern Africa in 1972 on my YouTube channel if anyone would like to have a look. The latest one isn't in South Africa though, because we made a detour to see trains in Swaziland and Moçambique; what we saw there was wonderous to behold: Take a look; I'm sure you wont be disappointed! TTFN, Ron.
  24. Afternoon All, I'm still working through the video footage I shot whilst in Porthmadog last month and the latest instalment is now on my YouTube channel. So if anyone would like to join me on a trip up the line on a 'Woodland Wanderer' behind BLANCHE, here's the link: Hope it's of interest. TTFN, Ron.
