  1. So real, I feel as though I'm standing there Must tell the station master that his window frames needs siliconing before winter sets in Enjoy your holiday Andy.
  2. In the 70's, the days of that horrible Watney Red beer everywhere, The Willoughby was the only decent pub for miles around with the loverly Ruddles County on draft.
  3. Its a bit like my garage was a few weeks ago, kept moving things around to get to other things and never getting any space to do anything. I had a blitz on it in the last couple of weeks, threw some old stuff out, put new shelving up, tools back in their rightful places, good sweep out and hoover up, now it is a pleasure to go in there again and have a clear bench and room to work. Once you have got everything sorted in the potting shed and put under baseboard level it will look really good and give you that impetous to crack on laying track.
  4. Does this mean that the loverly Mrs Smith has waivered all rights to space in the new loft forever? Wise move spending time sorting bedroom 4, good trade off to keep the lady happy Now that the shed is in the loft it should give you some perspective to where you are at. I am in total agreement with Gilbert about keeping the fiddle yard in the open. Why not make it a scenic marshalling yard/carraige sidings, running your locos on and off the stock back to the shed
  5. I think Jason has been there. I'm sure he's the spotter sitting on top of the wall on the right hand side of the photo.
  6. You gotta be joking :sungum:
  7. How do you manage to breathe when you are near those parts
  8. Top job Andy :sungum: :sungum:
  9. Just to let you know what you would be missing, and she loves railways too
  10. Yes, it is a good skill to have. Never mind not all is lost, you can certainly model well and make music. Something I can't do I am ok-ish with wood but not quite got the feel I have with metal Want to do a swop? My good lady has a list as long as your arm plus her very elderly parents can't do anything themselves so I get their jobs as well.
  11. Think of your health Mr P We only want to see you "laying" track
  12. Does he know you're fitting a water meter to his downpipe :jester:
  13. I know the shed is costing you a lot of money, but for a bit more I would put guttering along both sides coming to a single downpipe at the back. It will help protect the lower half of the shed from water damage in the future, particularly the bottom where run off will splash back up from the ground.
  14. Whats the matter Andy? affraid she might see whats draining the bank balance I don't understand women sometimes, they coo and swoon all over new babies but can't relate the same feelings when a man has a new shed :jester: No offence to Dee
  15. With just two tracks on a narrow board you should not have a problem accommondating the workbench. That is an excellent idea
  16. Dunno, the wife banned it years ago, said it wouldn't do the heart any good I hope your are enjoying your holiday Jason. I see you are getting around quite a bit, North Norfolk Railway is lovely. Even better to get back to Wainfleet and enjoy some Bateman's liquid. I'm just about to crack open this lovely bottle
  17. Asked for that down the road in Peterborough and they had never heard of it wimps Neither had they heard of Dough cake and Stilton cheese being eaten together. Dough cake = Lincolnshire plum bread, proper stuff with 98% fruit and 2% bread, not what the shops trying selling round here with 98% bread and six currants if you can find them
  18. Yep, Bitton on the back wall, What about hinging the quadrant (curve) that leads into the fiddle yard up and over the fiddle yard itself, leaving that corner near the door and front window of the shed free for the work bench.
  19. Knowing the ECML since the late fifties from Grantham to Peterborough there are a great deal of different senarios within that length. IMO both of you are right in your observations and comments. Going south from Stoke Tunnel to Werrington Junction was the World's fastest racetrack, anything modelled which is along that stretch needs open space and length to appeciate the full length of expresses at speed. Little Bytham achieves that goal to the extent that it sends shivers down my spine watching it in the posted videos, it is just as I remember from 1958. Peterborough North is again just as impressive, and you score because although compromised very slightly in length, it is not at all noticeable because the trains are running in and out of the station due to the dog leg at a fifth of the speed at Little Bytham, and are probably "on stage" for far longer, so IMO that makes both layouts very compareable in what they have achieved in regards of realism. Grantham is another layout that achieves its goal. It is compromised at the north end but it does not detract from expresses running through at speed. I would love to model Werrington Junction from Walton to Hurn Road including the water troughs but I haven't got a 100ft shed and compromising on length would not do it justice. So I am greatful to come to this forum and just drool over the offerings that you, Tony and others have produced which takes me back in time so I can daydream once again like I used to on those long summer days spent at LB and Essendine.
  20. I think you only need the RMIndex.txt file on the first post. Double clicking on it opens it up in your browser to view. Just make it prominant with the words "Double click to open index" next to it. You do not need to put the xlsx file on the first post.
  21. You have now got the files uploaded on this website, if you loose them on your computer just download them from here
  22. Mike can edit his first post by copying and pasting from the text file just like I did above. If he needs to add further information he does so in the excel file, then saves it again as the .txt file, edits his first post by deleting the list and then copies and pastes the whole updated list back into his first post.
