This is where sports science should be more evident, is it the pitches, sportswear or the ever increasing workload placed on players. heard a piece on five live sport around why the women are getting so many ACL injurys one cause of this is thought to be lack of cheap football boots specifically made for young female footballers meaning youngsters are wearing unsuitable boys footwear causing stresses to the ACL from an early age another cause was said to be hip dysplasia from when girls first start to walk you regularly see young girls walking with one foot turned in this when they progress onto regular sports again puts the ACL under stress .
