  1. I am very tempted to buy a digitrax zephyr express, because where i live there's a shop that sells them for the same price as the Hornby elite, and it comes with Loconet compatibility and Xpressnet too, but i was wondering what are the advantages of this system and whether its worth the price. What are the opinions here of this DCC system.
  2. Has anyone ever used set track on a scenic layout. Because I've a few things you can do to make setrack look brilliant.
  3. I plan on using Standard setrack on my Scenic 00 layout. Not even Streamline, looks ok to me.
  4. I want to do a pretty scenic but The longest to get my money's worth. Single Scottish highlands line.
  5. I don't know which category this would fall under so I put it here. I want to know which Caledonian sleeper is the most scenic, because I i want to take the Caledonian sleeper and also want to model a section of line it runs on eventually. So I want to know which route is the most scenic, i suspect its gonna be one of the Highland routes.
  6. Thanks for the tip, Until now i have been to scared to use meths.
  7. I don't but will do in the future, if i hide it does it dissappear from all users.
  8. Can a blog be deleted by the person they deleted if they create one?.
  9. I can but for me i see no point in Code 75. It does look a little bit more finescale but Ballasted Code 100 looks fine to me. Plus i have some Lima Coaches and a can't justify spending money on fitting finescale wheels. My friends track im using is Mostly gonna be in a hidden section. Im also a bit to heavy handed for the delicately of Code 75.
  10. They are not a complete mess but it looks really bad. What about Diluting the Meths with a tiny bit of water then drying of track with a hair dryer. Removing the sleepers are a very good idea but my fingers are not sturdy enough to put it back.
  11. Im not in any location where i can get Code 75 Track. Even code 100 is someone difficult to get new. My friends track is a few months old but he just did a really poor job of painting.
  12. Thank you all for the advice. It is appreciated very much.
  13. I have just received a hole bunch of Hornby track from a friend, unfortunately its covered in paint from paint pens, Specifically posca pens, it's covered the sleepers and rails, i want to remove it but I don't know how, i have tried plain water and hasn't, i know methylated spirits is a brilliant paint remover but don't think is a good idea on Hornby track. Also the tops of the rails are scratches. How do i remove the paint from Hornby sleepers and rails using minimal household tools. And is it possible to fix the scratching.
  14. It will be set in the Northern part of the wcml but the Heritage bit will be based of Crewe, i dont want a full heritage railway but just a Heritage centre with a Turntable, a bit like a cross between barrow Hill roundhouse in Derbyshire and Crewe Heritage centre, obviously shrunk down to fit my space.
  15. There is probably gonna be a move, but i am too excited to start to wait, so i want a permanent layout that can be moved and can be expanded in the future.
  16. I have just taken a measurement of my space and discovered the maximum I can use for my model railway is 13x6 Which is actually larger then i thought.
  17. About 15x8 I meant realism when I comes to trains, like having massive Era gaps in trains, but i don't worry to much about track for now. I really want a round layout to be able to run trains without stopping, even if i have to sacrifice a few things. I also said I have no experience in advanced track plans. As for the DCC, i am probably gonna go with a Gaugemaster prodigy, because it's look better for Dcc sound which is what i want eventually. The Elite doesn't seem to be good for that based of what i have been told from other sources.
  18. 12x5 is the maximum i can do well having enough floor space. I know placing baseboards and track on all the space is a pretty bad idea.
  19. I don't use anyrail, i found this plan on Pinterest.
  20. I will need to look out for that book. My max is 12x5 but i can go smaller, i like the idea of a fiddle yard, but i was gonna make a scene on both sides and have a Mini-fiddle yard hidden between back scenes, (Will be in a place I can reach) For rerailing locos away from Ohle.
  21. I found a layout track plan, its not an end to end, but it does look relatively easy for my space and looks nice, will make a few Adaptions.
  22. Thanks for or the advice, Im going to build a modular baseboard, dont know how big yet exactly, it will be a modular layout set on the northen Part of WCML, possibly a wcml Branch, which apart from the heritage railway Centre with a Turntable, is often overlooked by the trainspotting community. I will be using Hornby elite, not the best but works for me. Just have to figure out how will modular joins work with OHLE.
  23. Would an End to End Branchline look ok with OHLE? I like this idea, never thought of an "End to End" Before.
