  1. I think Hornby would go far with TT if it's going to be any more affordable than 00.
  2. To my untrained eye the painting on those steam locomotives look terribly plasticy and toy-like. I sure hope that's not what your getting for 100+ pound.
  3. This thread feels like a war brewing. 😂
  4. I think most people would do research before spending that amount of money.
  5. To be fair the entirety of the world's is moving online, Hornby is just following suit, I feel like model shops should start focusing on there online sales.
  6. The Gaugemaster N Class 800 is better value for money but I see where your getting at.
  7. I might consider this in the future, but I want to see where Hornby will take this range first, maybe they will produce some digital train set, I'm not getting my hopes up but you never know. Hornby technically already have experience with TT considering Arnold produce TT scale products
  8. Off course everyone has different views. I find these price tags a bit steep for a smaller scale, the price for me makes no economic sense to move from 00 down to TT. There are 00 scale sets that are cheaper then this. However I feel like this is a good step from Hornby, instead of just trying to compete with others Hornby seems to be attempting uniqueness.
  9. It looks like Hornby might actually do something properly for once. Although I'm not paying hornbys extortionate website prices for these, it's quite literally shrinkflation.
  10. I plan on building my layout myself, I asked the question for research purposes.
  11. How much would it cost to hire a layout builder to build a small scenic oval layout, roughly 8x4 and 6x4s?
  12. Personally I find survey's usually go nowhere. PS: Sorry for the long time to reply.
  13. Yes i model 00, and I don't know my exact garage space but I currently have a 6x4 board but can go max to 12x4 if I want to or possibly 12x6. But i don't want to start too big. To be fair I have lost track of which country uses which measurement unit anymore.
  14. This is one of the best Layouts I've ever seen, the west highland line is my favourite stretch of railway line and your rendition is spot on to me. Keep up the good work! 👍
  15. I do but I suck at planning. Also what measurement do you refer to in 12" and 3'? Metres or feet.
  16. Is it possible to be a roundy roundy layout with a single pack of 10 peco flex track and several points, if so what kind of operating potential is there, asking I've finally found a place to build a permanent layout. But the budget the size of an N scale human head (slight exaggeration).
  17. Unfortunately I can only import a bus over 40 years old
  18. I was in the mood for seafood on the trip and sort of nibbled on my oyster card.
  19. I am actually just busy watching these funnily enough.
  20. I will mostly stay in areas dedicated to camping with vehicles, and security I am more concerned about stuff inside getting stolen because it's unlikely they will steal a big non-standard bus. I plan on fitting an interior bulkhead on the inside so the back entrance is almost like a little patio.
  21. Sorry I meant LHD vehicles cannot be imported.
  22. Okay, so I want a Routemaster because I want a unique style Motorhome and I have found very few Routemaster conversions (Probably because of the concerns that people have made above). I have found minibusses or vans are a bit small, I like my space, so I thought about getting a vintage American A class Motorhome because that would be unique and cool, but unfortunately, LHD vehicles are not allowed to be imported to my country, so that is not going to work. Compared to the UK my country is quite liberal with size limits, as for the costs of running they will still be high but 1. I don't have other major expenses (Except model trains) and 2. I feel it is worth it for something as cool as a vintage bus. Also, vintage passenger vehicles are a lot easier to import into my country as long as they're over 40 years old. I know Britain does have some Small RHD motorhomes but for the price of them, I would rather buy a Routemaster. As for the conversion cost I view this as a long term project.
  23. thanks for the information everyone! Time to go bus shopping.
  24. I am considering buying an Routemaster and fixing up and converting it into a motorhome, but I'm worried that using such an iconic Vehicle for a motorhome conversion instead of restoring it is heresy and sacrilege, What is the opinion of people in this forum? The reason I'm asking on a model railway forum is because alot of the railway modelling community are also vintage bus enthusiasts and im too lazy to create an account on another forum to ask one question. I'm especially concerned about this because I need to drill holes for my plan of using solar panels to work.
