My GP is still against the PSA test if you have no problems - because of the false positives. I have no problems that I'm aware of - I don't get up in the night for a pee, I don't appear to have any lumps or bumps in that department (Check when having a shower), and flow is ok - right colour and no pain. I could probably get the blood test done privately. Would you insist your GP gives you the PSA or go private? Should have said I'll be seventy three in a months time.

Back in July I posted that a friend had terminal prostate cancer, and that I had contacted him and I posted on here his reply to me. I contacted him again in December and today received a reply, which as before I am posting - hopefully things are heading in the right direction? It obviously pays to have a very positive attitude. It's a ****** to get old mate. I am finally on the mend although not cured. I completed my 6 lots of chemo in November and am still recovering. I can safely say it was all they said it would be and more. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy although there are a couple of people that come to mind where I wouldn't mind injecting personally! I got to ring the bell at The Christie which is a tradition when you end chemo. Everyone stands around and cheers and claps you, patients, doctors and nurses. All rather embarrassing. Apparently very few complete all six, 2 lots or sometimes 4 are the norm. I'm just stubborn, there was no bravery involved. I slept for 2 weeks straight after the last lot and dropped over a stone. I still struggle getting up and am normally in bed by 7.00. Apparently it can take 6 to 9 months to recover and some only recover to 80%. My aim is to go back to work in April or May. So I am having counselling with how to live with cancer after treatment and have a personal trainer building me up with exercises. My hair and beard are growing back. (I didn't shave for months now I have to twice a week). I am weaning myself off as many of the 26 pills I take a day as possible. Some I will take forever. At present I am working getting my morphine intake down. That is particularly nasty because of the side effects but I'm down from 60ml a day to 20. Well that's about it from me. I lead a very different and slightly boring life at present but aim to get back to as normal as I can possibly be and prove the experts wrong and hang around like a bad smell for as long as possible. The Hornby Collectors Club magazine is now a first class publication - it wouldn't look out of place in WHSmiths amongst the magazines. I agree the loco is a toy, but it's great for the grandchildren. I'm not concerned about the use of a lounge at shows. The Club loco (SECR 263) was late - so what, it arrived eventually. I've been a member of the Hornby Club for about twelve years - may be longer, the cost is negligible. I would think that 90% of my loco purchases are Hornby, so I suppose it's natural to be a club member, if it were the other way round I might be Bachmann club member.

Just watching the afternoon BBC News - there appears to be numerous problems with smart meters - even the second generation ones. As was stated by The Stationmater - do we need a smart meter to tell us when to turn something off?

I don't recall Mini's having rectangular sidelight/indicators? They look very similar to the ones fitted to the Riley Elf in the other picture?

It was a Clubman Estate, given to my sons by my mother-in-law in 1991 (the car - even now only has 23K miles on the clock) - they were not old enough to drive, so they took it to pieces! It was Aqua Blue with a Wood look-a-like trim down the sides and on the rear door. Many years ago, one of my sons sent the car to the local Rover/Leyland dealers bodyshop, and the chopped the front off, and all panels were replaced with mini panels - in fact everything in front of the bulkhead was replaced. There is a major cross-section attached to the front bulkhead, this had a new section let into it to take the turbo - there was a complete MG Metro Turbo engine in its front subframe also in the garage with everything attached including ventilated discs - the intention being to fit this into the shell. I bought the car (!!)from my sons as a retirement project some years ago, but it never happened, and last year I made the decision to let it go. M-Tech had made a Sports Pack Mini Woody some years ago, that featured in Mini World - it actually had large "wooden" rear arches. I approached them, but decided not to have the work done, and they asked if they could have first refusal on the shell. They have made five, this will be number six, with most of the "options" the price came out at about £32K - surprisingly it was not the cost that stopped us having the car restored, but the thought that it would just sit in the garage for another twenty years. I'm very temped to go down and see it when it's finished. I would have had it painted in Almond Green.

Thanks for the replies regarding the Hornby/Roco couplings.

Are the Roco couplings the same as the "close couplings" that come in a bag with Hornby coaches? They look the same. I have used KD 18's at the end of my Maunsell rakes and loco tenders.
