  1. That was obviously an American piggy bank. Not a good exchange rate.
  2. The "new" Club is not open yet. Anyone with existing or very recently expired membership - there membership will continue until the new Collectors Club starts. The SECR H Class will be limited to "one" per customer, and will not be available until July 2018. I spoke to the Club by phone today.
  3. The Hornby site is currently down - to many pre-orders?
  4. I'm amazed at the numbers of sellers that are selling R3566 as British India Line - which R3566 was originally announced as, but changed sometime ago. Even the Invoice from Hornby on my recently delivered model, said "British India Line". Is this just laziness?
  5. One thing I hadn't noticed on previous models was the moulding line along the side of the boiler. If you zoom-in on the photo it is very clear. Sorry for the grainy picture. https://flic.kr/p/22jg8eR
  6. The last Hornby rebuilt Merchant Navy was Holland-Afrika Line - 35023 with sound, and that was in the first quarter of 2013.
  7. Just received an email from Hornby - the lined black ones have arrived, and will be dispatched very soon.
  8. I received my Kernow Newsletter today (it's always Friday). Having read the email to be sent out, I replied immediately saying take the payment now. I have always found Kernows a pleasure to deal with.
  9. I can confirm that all is now working as I wanted. The link wire on terminals 4 and 5 on the DCC Concepts Cobalt iP was obviously not making contact somewhere - it is now. So now when I throw the toggle switch the point and the signal operate at the same time.
  10. I recently asked Richard of DCC Concepts whether I could wire a Dapol Signal into a DCC Concepts Cobalt iP point motor. Suzie answered first said no and Richard gave a very cautious yes. Richard then set up a 24/7 test rig, and later replied saying yes it could be done and the test rig at the time of answering had changed the point and signal 1700 times with no problems. I have followed the instructions, and the signal works, but only on every other throw of the toggle switch. My Cobalts are wired for DCC (Hornby Elite) and toggle switch operation. The signal has it's own 9v 500ma supply and the yellow wires are placed one in terminal 6 (common) on the Cobalt and the other in 4 and linked to 5 (left and right). I had assumed the signal would operate together with the point on every movement, but as I said at the moment it's every other movement - but it does work.
  11. Just had an email from Hornby to say that British India Line 35018 - due to be released later this year, will now be Nederland Line 35014 - Early BR. Nice to see that Hornby have realised there are a number of names/numbers they have not used before.
  12. There may have been a slight variation in the size of the pcb on the TCS DP2X-UK. There was talk a little while ago that this decoder would not now fit into the Hornby M7, where as I fitted one into the M7 without problem. I did buy half a dozen of these decoders in the USA a couple of years ago - may be old stock. You will of course appreciate that a slight variation in the size will dictate whether it fits or not. May be I have been lucky.
  13. I fitted a TCS DP2X-UK and it fitted perfectly. However I did notice that one of the two screws that hold the socket to the loco, touched the underside of the decoder. I placed a small piece of heat shrink between the decoder and the screw head. I did not have a problem in the first place, but noticed this contact before any power was applied. The loco appears to run ok! It is noisier on the track than on the rolling road - that may be down to PVA'd ballast.
  14. Mine arrived by email on April 22nd. A vast improvement on the past.
  15. I renewed my Hornby Collectors club membership in January - this time going for the online version - £15.00. The confirmation and £20 voucher arrived by email about two minutes later - I then used the voucher to buy the Terrier Whitechapel, which cost me £15.00. The Terrier arrived in the post a couple of days later. The magazine has never ever been a heavy read - I have them all from No.1. Usually requires a quick flick through and then add it to the pile. I think the 10% discount is worth having. When the 2016 models were listed, I checked the discounted prices against all the major box-shifters, and in most cases there was about a £1 or two difference in price, and it went both ways. So as I usually do, I placed my annual order but this time with several suppliers, including Hornby. The items will arrive as and when - it's not important, I have the emailed confirmation of the orders and my card details are kept up to date. So nothing to complain about.
  16. I renewed my Hornby Club membership a couple of weeks ago, taking the Online membership - £15.00. Within minutes I had received emailed confirmation together with my £20 voucher, which I used to buy Whitechapel - it cost me £15.00 with free P&P. Not a bad deal.
  17. I phoned my order for Manston, using the voucher, and the whole process took about two minutes. It must be just the luck of the draw when you ring etc. I got an emailed confirmation a few minutes later. Very simple process.
  18. Following on from Posting 698 - is there a favoured decoder for this model?
