  1. I should be much easier too ................. ................... with the lights installed ...................... ........ Hat - coat - just got to catch that bus that is passing ......
  2. I was reading this and, until I thought about it I was ............................. going to tell the story about a Typewriter Mechanic who was called to correct a fault on a well famous make of Typewriter, which kept adding unwanted spaces. ............ When he got there he examined the machine and took various components out to check them, but couldn't a single fault or misalignment. Baffled he thought it might be the typist's abilities at question so he asked if he could watch her type for a while. For quite a while he watched, but her fingers were totally faultless at the keys. Suddenly he said to her, "I think I may have seen where the machine is at fault, if you would like to take a short Tea Break, I can probably fix it while you do.." She did so and came back a while later, to be asked to try again. The machine worked perfectly thereafter. The lady thanked him and carried on working totally unaware that he had placed 4 x blocks of wood on the legs of her chair, thus raising the seat just far enough so her ample upper anatomy could no longer press on the Space Bar, when she leaned forward to check her typing. ..................... but I, quickly, realised that I couldn't tell a tale like that in the modern PC world ........ I am sure you will understand and forgive the ommission ............. Edit - poor typing .......... [no I didn't lean forward to check the Computer Screen ... but then, you wouldn't know why that comment might be appropriate ... ]
  3. Eeeerrrrr ..................................... I don't quite think so ................. ............. it certainly didn't in good old Nor'n Iron ............................ ............. ......................................... it was consumed long before it could ever go off .......... Eerr - well - so I was told ..... . . Edit ...... by the Chief Police Officer, of the area I was in .... ssshhhhhhh .....
  4. What was the source for the DP Signal Box? ...... which, incidentally, looks rather good. ...
  5. Signal Box .......................................................................................... confession time ........
  6. You will have to go to back posts to find it ....... ....................................... I got peckish at around 11.00 this morning ........
  7. Hi dt How are you intending to fix them, when the time comes.
  8. I get the idea of using [spare??] facilities for eer .. cough .. recreation facilities .... [even though there is so little time nowadays.] What I couldn't get ... was an explanation as to why Hussars/Dragoons tether their Horses Tanks to a post every night ....... but don't bother to Hobble them ..... [For those who think that is just an Old Soldier's tale .. it is certainly not and yes I have seen it with my own eyes.]
  9. It's pretty good at staying fixed. I am sure some comes soaked in adhesive and a drop of water will fix it. I was never convinced about how reliable that might be and normally dabbed a drop of Super-glue on the knot. Let me know if you can't find any.
  10. Unfortunately - for both of us - just an appointment to see the Fang Blood-Witch ......
  11. Given the dates you are looking at, I just wondered if the Brigadier/Colonel might have had his boat brought in, for the REME guys to give it an overhaul. Not far fetched for those times, as I'm sure the various posters here will have seen. It might even be able to be transported on one of those Tank-Flats ..... along with his [and a few other Officer's] horses ....... Edit = thought it might be better here rather than a Topic hi-jack elsewhere. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/72163-arboretum-valley-time-to-ramp-things-up/page-327 Julian
  12. You might look for some Christmas coloured ribbons ...... not the whole width, of course, but some of it comes with parallel rather than woven threads. It can be separated and pulled into very thin strips. I confess it is a long tine since I looked to see any of this type of ribbon, but a visit / phone call to a proper dressmakes of Craft shop might give some idea of what is currently available. I just had a thought whilst typing and had a look to see if I had any remaining ..... Golden ribbon for her hair by JulianR 2013, on Flickr I only have the 3 colours left and no Red, but I'm pretty sure it would still be available, but feel free to PM me if you can't find any. I pulled the end of the Gold one so you can see how it strips parallel along it Regards Julian
  13. Aaah yes Duncan, of course - my apologies ........... my suggestions would indeed evoke a personage whose vision of the future is as revered as Dr Who is now ......... .................. one might have to rely upon such crude ideas as the Snot Bogie Wagon ..... understandably a trifle more tricky .......
  14. Lads! lads. where has your imagination gone? Surely - in the tried and tested manner of OO Modellers - all you need is a Boat Repair Yard next to the station ........... ............. and a convenient gateway to a Shunt .... one suitable Well Wagon ........................ or ................ anticipating all the work required to achieve that .......... simply one of Oxford's finest HC WILSON 8 axle Artic Trailers with the matching 4 axle Tractor Unit, a small set of chocks [you know you want to use some of those coffee stirrers too ... ] complete with small fishing vessel - Oh, go on then a Big fishing vessel - on the chocks ............... How simple can that be chaps ...........
  15. On a slightly more serious note ........ Duncan and Al ...... the Double Treble wouldn't go far amiss for the deck of a fishing boat [the 6xsingles have shanks too thick] ..... there are many such examples around the coast .......
  16. Oh - I don't know .......... .............. how about slightly larger versions for the Christmas Tree ....... ................................. you could even run fibre optics down the stem to the clear beads ......... PS. - might be an idea to file the points down on the Christmas Tree versions ........ .......................................................... ............................... Umm - maybe not .......
  17. First there were a couple of Trebles wanting to dance ... she was slightly shorter than he ....... [Due to the application of a very strong pair of wire cutters!!] They approached each other ....................... Ooooohh Errr Mrs ............ .............. and pressed their flattened front shanks together ....... Oooohhh - look away dear! ..... Treble closing in by JulianR 2013, on Flickr It didn't take long for the inevitable " Plunging together into something warm and soft ............... Treble Duet by JulianR 2013, on Flickr and those long lasting consequences of being just too familiar ......... they were stuck with each other, like it or not ........ one might be forgiven [probably not around here!] ... for saying they were well and truly hooked on each other ...... Treble Married by JulianR 2013, on Flickr PS - Clumsy Club members will now understand why I have still got my shoes on .... these little blighters may only be 5mm long .. but discovering the "ones that got away!" ........
  18. This is one for all Clumsy Club members ............................... to avoid ...... Looking at the bits of bent wire ........ more reminiscent of Trotter's disaster than a realistic effort .................................. I suddenly thought ....... My brian could do with a rest ...... and what is more restful than? ................................ fishing ...... so - off I went to the local Bait shop ........ came back with some Barbless Hooks [small, Fishing persons for the use of.] .................. you see, it struck me that they were a bit like the shape of chandelier arms ......... so first of all, I tied the eyes together, with the Hooks all facing the same direction ..... like this Strung by JulianR 2013, on Flickr Threading the cotton was helped by the application of Superglue ........ ...... and I only did 4 as a trial to see if it would work .... next they were placed is a small hole in a bit of Exp Poly Stuck by JulianR 2013, on Flickr once arranged [fairly] symetrically .... Superglue was drizzled down the centre between the curved bits ......... to stick the shanks together ..... and here it is hanging from the ceiling ... In the Ceiling by JulianR 2013, on Flickr So next it was 6 in .............. notice they were stuck further in to anchor the hook ends ..... 6 In by JulianR 2013, on Flickr Here they are stuck together ............ no need to worry about getting them out of the Exp-Poly ..... Superglue melts it, so the shanks pull straight out ..... like this 6 Out by JulianR 2013, on Flickr The next picture is a bit blurred, but it shows the cotton, which was held straight and a stretch painted with a small amount of Superglue and left to harden ... chopped in the glued section, leaves a length of stiff cotton, which is easy to thread .... Needle by JulianR 2013, on Flickr Enough for one post ....................... but there is more ........................
  19. Back from the shop ..... looking possible ...... .... will see about fitting them when I've picked MD from the School gate. ......
  20. A bit of both..... On the Tabs at the top are - "User Objects" - Under Dapol - SR Van; under Hornby - 2 x Coaches; under Mainline - Pannier Tank + Brake Van. I put the Pannier Tank and Brake Van together the highlighted them by "Click - Hold and Drag" over them - then "Group" on the Pelmet at the top. I also did the same for the coach and Brake coach, making a pair/DMU? Enjoy ...
  21. I would have thought that .................... ....................... you might find Tweezers easier to use ...... but ...... it is your layout after all ..... Ok - back on topic - there is no need for solder for the twisted bit in the middle, a tough of Super-glue applied with a brush will do it - just slide it along from where they spread out towards the top. ... PS - I am just off to research another possibility, which might be much easier and better curves to the Chandelier ........
  22. Good evening Sir .... if you would like to take a seat, the Waiter will be with you shortly ..... ...... may I recommend this evening's Special Dish ... Steam Trains ....... .....
  23. I'm afraid MD won't share her beads .................. actually I don't think she has any this small ...... my fingers are not really dexterous enough, but I thought you might like to look at this idea ..... Chandelier 2 by JulianR 2013, on Flickr It needs a lot of tidying with some tweezers .... it could do with a touch of superglue at the top, too .... looks more what the Trotters left behind ...... The chair should have been in front or by the side - perspective made the bench much smaller, but this will give some idea......... Chandelier 3 by JulianR 2013, on Flickr With your more steady fingers, it might be an idea to work on ......... Some beads glued at the bottom of the hooks and more added toward the tips, with maybe the last bit of wire in white for a candle .......... Edit = spelling
  24. I was looking at a couple of plans, a short while ago. Ahhh the pleasure of having choices ........ One a through station vs a small inside branch line thingy ... both would work, so not very contentious ...... flip a coin might do it ..... Then a chance posting or two at Ruby road got me thinking about Cross-over points [Peco SL90, I think], which can be seen here and a couple of Posts further back ..... http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/49620-ruby-road-learning-it-all-again/page-23#entry1676955 I chucked a set of the points on the through Stn, so it now looks like this Double track OO with sidings 6'2 x 4' orange by JulianR 2013, on Flickr The points are in the Orange Oval ....................... improvement/not ........ just about room for a loco and a couple of wagons? Any-one like to offer an opinion? Still no sign of the awaited Baseboards, but encouraging noises have been received ......
  25. Really? .......... .................. surely not ..................
