  1. Wow... both Redhead and Irish.....? Do you juggle Dynamite sticks, with lit fuses, too?? 🤪 Alright, just joking, I'm with you on both counts.
  2. The armour and King's(?) clothes, look to be distinctly Medieval, a bit later than Alexander The Great, who wore crested helmets, similar to the Roman soldiers.
  3. Keep finding the last puddle on the way home..... Soaked in the water, with your weight on the tyres as they roll on the ground;, what efforts do you have to apply to find an expensive spray to achieve the same. Sometimes nature has already found the answer, when we look for alternatives. 😊
  4. Thank you, I had heard of the films but never got round to see one. {I may be more lucky than I had previously thought... 🤫 }
  5. A depression moving from West (ish) to East (ish) will add it's speed to the winds to it's South, and subtract from the perceived effect to the North of it. You're also right about the Earth's curvature, in that the wind has slightly less distance to travel, the further North you go. There is also an increase of the wind speed, due to the direction change, behind the front, which is usually quite distinctive on weather maps, showing the pressure lines closer to each other.
  6. Not sure it would work for The Beetles..... Oops.....
  7. Such an appropriate Title / logo, too.....
  8. I appreciate the problem and would be dubious about adding weights to the free-rolling stock, given the fragile difference between pulling the coaches and spinning the driving wheels. Given the Rocket loco wheel configuration, I'm not sure that the mechanics of trying to push carriages, in loco reverse, would be a success - OO or full size. I suspect that it would be subject to very similar forces that farm tractors had { - tend, still to have} to lift the, leading, small wheels, when the throttle was opened. {There's many a farm-hand died, that way back along, much less common now.} Rocket also sported a lighter weight / leverage ratio over the smaller wheels, than a farm tractor. I have also noticed a few of the pictures of the time, back then, with a loco on a small turntable, in the background, which may be significant to the operation of the locos. There may be an opening there for adding a small turntable and run-round loop to a layout, so there's a opportunity to be seized upon, as compensation. 🤔😊
  9. I looked at the Accurascale and thought they were definitely worth a go. I found some 3mm split jump rings, so they would fit over the existing hook and removed some of the Accurascale links. 2mm Jump rings are made, but no-one had them in stock, so that will wait, until they appear again. A couple of trials ended with an improvement over the Hornby links. Accurascale - Big Smaller Smallest Connected Not perfect, but a definite improvement. I also capped the hooks, to stop the links jumping off when they join together. The black one is insulation off 18 SWG silicone insulated wire and the blue [just for clarity], is 20 SWG silicone insulated wire. I use black 20 SWG as it was neater, than 18. The result... One last picture of the tools to open the Jump ring split and close it up again... grip the Jump ring in small needle nose pliers, insert the ring in the smallest slot, twist and it opens, fit Accurascale link, then insert again and twist back... done! Quick, simple and no more grovelling on the carpet, after trying with two sets of needle nose pliers, yeah!!
  10. Thank you gentlemen, there is a deal of interesting information from your experiences, very interesting and worthy of looking at what / how is currently available. I hadn't been aware of the fuel tank sizes, mpg, fuel availability numbers, convert-ability and other factors. It's sparked an interest to look further, although I suspect, I may have caused enough thread drift already, unless there are sufficient Modern Classic cars converted, to be included. Thank you again, I'm very grateful.
  11. I have often wondered how Lpg would work out, cost, range and availability wise. Do you have any figures, thoughts you might be able to share?
  12. Possibly relevant that the claim for the wage, is not from the drivers.....
  13. Are you sure that you're not just rabbiting on.....?
  14. I spent 26 years teaching PE and there were a few pupils who would choose a teacher, or two, to "practice on a safe adult". One had a wicked sense of humour and used to delight in teasing several male staff, much to the discomfort of a clearly gay, very religious male teacher. Same young lady was sat in the corridor on the floor, with a friend, waiting for the Photocopy operator to come back after lunch. I needed to get to the door to her right and they weren't about to get up, so I stepped carefully across their outstretched legs to get to the door. As I got to the door, she said, "You wouldn't climb over me to get out of bed, would you." with a giggle - and then realised what she had said, as a joke, wasn't quite as funny as she had intended. She was so embarrassed and just couldn't apologise enough, whilst her friend fell about laughing at her gaff. It was quite noticeable that she was far more careful after that. 🤭
  15. I can just imagine the results of getting in from the pub and claiming that you had got in early, 'cause the pub clock said 10.30..... 🤕
  16. No Bacteria, or other life form was mentioned by Track Magic, or Peco, either.....
  17. It's a known issue and there is a reference to it on the packaging, and advice on what to do about it. [At least there was when I posted about it some few years ago.] I chose the easy option and stopped using the stuff, there's plenty of other options, like isopropanol and the like. Edit: I should add that Peco are also well aware of the problem and offer similar advice to the makers of Track Magic.
  18. I went to check and saw that you had done the same. I haven't seen any other posts, elsewhere. I can only echo your sentiments.
  19. Perhaps the Old Bill might like to know about the last comment. Nicked... on a plate. The owner might claim that the vehicle was stolen... along with the Vehicle Tax..... Yer, right... good joke in paperless days!
  20. Done before... but, I like it..... Mary had a little Lamb, It's fleece was white as snow. But where the hell it came from, the doctor didn't know!
  21. Principal of St Lukes College, Exeter went to Salisbury for a meeting. At the station, on the way back an intended through train to Exeter stopped, at a signal. Realising he had an opportunity to get back earlier than expected, he got on and sat down. The Guard came along as he did so and noticed the new passenger, stopped and said, "You can't get on this train at Salisbury." To which he replied, "In that case, I'm not on the train". Apparently, the Guard, shook his head, slowly, then reached out to clip the proffered ticket, but didn't actually say anything more.
  22. Just over 9% of the population of Cornwall are fluent in basic English..... 😅 ..... Just popping out for a run..... bye!!
  23. Yes they do still exist, my daughter did a course a couple of years ago... oops, time flies... it was actually about 6 years ago... Oh, wie die Zeit vergeht!
