  1. I might be talking through the wrong end of my digestive tract, but I have a vague recollection that solder tips are given a covering / finish, which should remain intact. I think it was part of some advice, not to use an abrasive file to try to clean the tips. Hence the use of wet sponges, brass-wool cleaners I'm going to have to Google that one, as the memory of it is very vague. To misquote someone far greater than I could hold even a shadow to... I may be gone a while.....
  2. Blimey, you're going to need a week at work..... for a rest! Sad about the Solder Iron tips, are there no other makes, with compatible tube size tips?
  3. When we used to go to various hill slopes, to fly r/c model gliders, People out for the fresh air and exercise, quite often stopped for a while and watched the flying. One of the comments, amongst many others, about weather, radio control and such like, was - "That's / they're just like the real aeroplanes." To which the most used response was, "It is a real aeroplane, just a smaller version of the full size ones." It would seem that your picture may fall into the same reply category. 🤭
  4. The owner seems to want to keep the entire authenticity, as the Tax Disc is still displayed in the holder, on the windscreen.
  5. It also turned out to be lighter than the Rover 2000, engine - win win.
  6. Mk 1 eyeball is more accurate than electrics, as it gives immediate feedback from the scenery. {no matter how limited that might be}. I used to take the A-level PE and D of Ed Gold candidates to the Brecons for their training and assessments. Not far from Crickhowell there is an area near the top, which is fairly flat, which contains a number of smallish pools. They were tasked with 8 figure references, for a couple of these and had to arrive at the correct side of the pool. It didn't need mist, fog and blasting rain, as the water in the pools doesn't stand up enough to be visible, {well, not normally} until a few paces away - by which time it's too late for a quick dodge to the left or right! Nearby, there is a Cairn marked on the map. Away they go - and I just wait, for them to tell me that there is a mistake on the map and the Cairn simply doesn't exist {Some interesting comments {!?!}, from them, as they recheck, re-pace, take bearings etc!}. I think it's quite possibly / probably one of the wild country equivalents of the "Trap Streets", OS use to catch people who may be attempting to avoid copyright. That one is quite near Blaenonneu Quarry and one of the caves, which I was informed was where Welsh Chartists had taken refuge, so worth getting them there for a lunch break and explore, with a bit of real life history. {Good for those less than friendly weather days, too.}
  7. This looks like it, from the Free Car Check website - Minor. I was puzzled about the vertical ribs at the top of the radiator, ut they are there on the picture. https://carcheckfree.co.uk/cardetails/PXS758
  8. Possibly where someone left it, having run out of fuel, having taken it for a "Ride". Either way, an enquiry at the local Police station might solve the conundrum, to the advantage of the owner, or someone willing to take it on, perhaps other benefactors. Seems odd that the Police haven't picked up on it's "Off the Road" Tax status and actioned it.
  9. Photoshop, a couple of versions going around, with different wording.
  10. Interesting read on the thought processes for preferences - vs - availability, with sufficient quality, makes for a good, enjoyable, read.
  11. Oh, be nice now, that's harsh..... It may be somewhat lacking in modern safety collision zones, understandable perhaps with such a vintage car, rather lacking in aesthetic replacement lines to the original, also the chrome bumper bars, or, indeed, proper alignment of the engine mounts so the bonnet might fit it's original place on the car body, perhaps the result of improved breathing features for the A-Series engine and seems to have an extended steering lance (with bracing to reinforce it in place)... however, on the positive side, it is quite, bright, shiny paintwork, with matching interior colour, retaining the central Speedometer and has that handy lollypop dispenser, in place of that old fashioned gear stick. Shame on you..... lovely paint finish and with alloys, too, any of the other Minor owners would l love to have that much money lavished on their chariots. Much more important than everything above - the owner must really love it.
  12. That's a very wise route to go down, as you remain as the "adult in the room" and can't possibly be accused of any provocation. The school is responsible for providing education for pupils who find normal schools challenging, so they will be very well aware of what the parents are doing to support / influence their child. The actions they take will be noted by the School and will be taken into consideration by all the relevant authorities, from both the view of the pupil and also of the parent's behaviour. Information will be considered from many sources, of which the School and yourselves will be two. It would be totally inappropriate to speculate on the outcome of those many considerations, however, the information from you and the School will certainly be relevant in decisions which will be made. I appreciate how much of a nuisance they have been and you have my every sympathy for the trouble it is causing you. Please remember that the child and parents are already getting support from various authorities, who will be looking in detail at the circumstances and what support is needed. They will be keen to ensure that those circumstances are in the best interests of the child and those others who may, also, be affected. It may not be obvious, but, you will definitely be part of what they want to keep safe. Best wishes
  13. I apologise if I was not clear in my intention. I was not intending to make a political statement, just how much of a joke Trump might be, with no political statement intended, just his personal behaviour. Rather similar to when he was at his first Heads of Gov't{?} meeting and stated that he had achieved more in 6 months than any other President had ever done in any complete Term, in the history of the USA. It was such a ridiculous claim that the whole meeting of Heads of International Governments, broke out into open scornful laughter.
  14. Not quite sure why such a vehicle should be inappropriate, too "County wealth" / too far second hand / high fuel expense claims, a car like that is hardly likely to be a rusting wreck. Any idea of what their angle was?
  15. Maybe not the only one to be floated, how about - https://newrepublic.com/article/150646/young-trump-went-russia#:~:text=On July 4%2C Trump flew,wife had stayed in 1917. ... and a few Top Secret Gov't documents kept after he left the White House.
  16. Not quite yet, maybe, but give it "time"..... ..... Please!! 🫠 Sadly, the US system doesn't have a great track record at getting proper justice for multi-millionaires. 🤐
  17. You have every right to look at it from the viewpoint that you are the adults, with the self control and maturity, that they demonstrate they are unable to manage..... And you might well feel a deal of satisfaction for being able to do so. Their repeated provocations are not achieving the reaction that they intended and that's a failure, in their eyes, particularly in view of the official attention they have now drawn to themselves.
  18. If you have to think about what you pay for one of those beasties..... you can't afford it. 😄
  19. From that and the previous events, it looks like they are considerably more rattled than you and lacking in maturity. Your patient reporting and stepping back for results keeps you well out of any claim that you are in any way being threatening to them, leaving their behaviour out in the clear, without any opportunity for them to blame you. {Edit and clearly, highlights you as the "grown-up in the room".}
  20. Well, indeed, I rather hoped that we had..... 🤔 😊
  21. Not quite, I prefer 4 wheels and a box round me. My Bro did - but not a Mod, which he came off enough times to make me think I was right about 4 wheels. 🙃 😊
  22. I'm tellin' ya straight, when I get out at the weekends, I got a scooter an' a coat just like that..... 😂
  23. Teachers at my old school, used to say - "You have got a tongue in your head - use it!" Not sure you could get away with that sort of directness these days...
  24. That's "B....." awful. You should take it back, you're entitled to a full refund there!!! 😆
  25. I doesn't make sense, either, as the message should be that you should be less than that tall, to fit. It actually reads that you can't fit under the bridge, unless you are as tall as the arm indicates, so anything less tall, will not fit under. 🙃
