Keith, I have applied static grass to my baseboards with the electronics in place on the underside including servos. However I do not switch on any of the systems such as the DCC or auxiliary power only because I do not want to short out. Just make sure you protect the points etc. in the same manner you would as when ballast laying. Mike

Why be encouraged to go outside the venue to be "catered" for, to my mind the show organisers should provide "adequate" catering for the punters. I also thought Gaydon is a superior venue. The GETS is one to miss next year.

Try resetting CV 54. Place your loco on your layout with room either end say about 6 foot. Set CV54 = 0. Press F1. The loco should briefly runaway at speed and stop. The motor should now run smoothly. Mike

Check the instruction sheet. Using DC I found there were no problems with the lights working directionally. DCC operation is explained in the DCC instructions. Using a 6 function decoder, if the cab lights are required, and a 4 function decoder for no cab lights. Fitting your own decoder one needs to check the function mapping of said decoder and adjust to suit the AUX 1 and AUX 2 outputs to your respective F switch (Function). I used F8 for the AUX 1 function on a LokSound V4 decoder. I'm pleased with the model it looks good and runs well, but I can't find the cab light switches on the PCB. My only niggle is with the buffer beam hook, a Hornby or Bachmann type would have been better. HTH Mike

A couple of weeks ago I bought the blue D6327. I finally got around to running it and on DC there were no problems, the directional lights worked but I haven't bothered with the cab lights. When a DCC decoder (V4 Loksound) was fitted the lights only worked in one direction, all else worked OK. I replaced the decoder 2 more times with known working ones with the same result. It seems odd the lights work on DC but not on DCC. Has anyone else with the 22 experienced the same problem. Mike

A very good diesel gala in a great setting with an excellent diesel turnout. I particularly wanted to see the Class 45 and alas my video camera packed up on the day. Apparently Western Campaigner has suffered a transmission problem. Mike PS anyone know where I can get a video camera with an external mic connection.

I had an email dialogue with Hattons on this subject. The reply advised the decoder will be the ESU LokSound V4 but they have not yet decided upon the sound programme. The speaker is also to be decided. Mike

The £265 sound fitted model is £115 more than the non DCC loco, that includes fitting and probably with a decent speaker. Should the sound decoder be the ESU Select type at this point in time I would agree with you but if it is aV4 or Zimo chip the price is competitive. It would be nice if the sound package was similar to the SLW Class 24. In any event I will probably place an order. Mike

Good points to illustrate the positives of the Horny IEP. My model will negotiate (all code 75) both at speed and dead slow through Peco short, medium and long radius points without any problems whilst passing through minimum radius of 22" of curves. I have run the model in excess of 4 hours on my layout that includes a 9 road fiddle yard through the full speed spectrum of my Digitrax system. The model runs through all speeds very quietly so quiet I cannot hear the motor as opposed to a Bachmann Voyager, 37,or 47. The motor does not heat up excessively nor does the fitted decoder (Lenz Gold). The finish is first class and I'm really impressed with the level of decoration. I will be fitting sound once I have sorted the sounds and will be using the compartment Hornby have allocated for the speaker.
