  1. Thanks for the history lesson! The previous was referring to the changes since 2007 when it was still relatively complete as a works - Crewe hasn't produced anything since the end of the HST/56/90 production runs.
  2. Trains have got more component based and reliable - they don't need a big works anymore just somewhere to send bits to for servicing. Wolverton and Springburn owned by Knorr-Bremse still service/upgrade stock as does Eastleigh but the work volume of work is nothing like it was. You've also got work being done by LNWR at Crewe, Brush in Loughborough, EMD have a siding in Longport,Stoke plus DB does it's own heavy engineering at Toton.
  3. It's good that Dapol are doing them and at least they won't be the amalgam that the buffet is but I am glad to have my full 1976 rake and not be waiting heaven knows how long for a TGS.

Interesting you suspect a mogul in OO but are still ploughing ahead in N, wouldn't that be an obvious shrink ray locomotive for Farish. I want the model but I wouldn't want to see you develop something only for Bachmann to slide in at a late stage.
  5. Finally I get to purchase a DJM masterpiece. Big thumbs up.
  6. Aw Dave, you need to ave a word with Andy. You're royalty round here, surely you get an official big Andy announcement like Hornby or Bachmann.
  7. I had a Royal Mail secure delivery go astray this week, it wasn't a Hattons parcel but it went not only to a different post code to what was in the address but also the wrong road, someone signed for it with a different name. Luckily they were honest and walked the 1/2 mile to our road and posted it through our letterbox. Makes me think the postman signed it himself and dropped it through the wrong letterbox because he couldn't find our road and he didn't want the bother of returning it to the sorting office, We might like to think the Royal Mail is best but they are a prone to error and bad practice just like the others.
  8. Was that a real committment from Dave or did I start that rumour by asking if I should stay in tomorrow and sit by my desktop or do some work and go to London?
  9. Rumour has it, 16 new models in 4 gauges all DCC sound with electrically operated couplings and they'll all be available at Warley 2014.
  10. I think there is 'stuff' in the pipeline that won't be announced, just relased as surprises when the time is right, the Crab and 40 spring to mind as locos removed from the current catalogue when you wouldn't expect them to be, the 8f has also disappeared. Of course it could simply be to create demand you first have to cull the old model.
  11. The problem with N to me has always been the track and couplings, but with Finetrax and replacement drop in couplings we are beginning to get some of the things previously denied to us smaller gaugers. I think a few limited editions would also help, all these one off locos and special commissions by Kernow and Hattons makes OO very attractive still.
  12. There's not exactly a lot in the OO thread so I don't think its a case of N gauge modellers being left out in the cold. There is quite a backlog on stuff to come and Bachmann need to get on and deliver some of that stuff, they seem to have got off lighter than Hornby and Dapol over delays but perhaps their wider range hid it better.

Pendolino to London it is then, I'll have to rely on mobile data for the DJM future announcement that may or may not happen on Wednesday.

Dave, should I plan to go out on Wednesday 23rd July or will it be worth me sitting by my PC tuned into RMWeb?
  15. Hope you've booked a release slot with Mr York so we can all froth till 10:00am on the Wednesday trying to guess what livery your N gauge APT-E will be in.
  16. Deltics and 50s used to appear regularly at Stockport on the York postal around 12:30am, it was a running in turn from Doncaster I believe but you had to be up late to see them. As for Liverpool I only know of the Trans Pennine services after HST displacement.
  17. Not that it matters but no one has commented that this second run is coming from DJM whereas the originals came via Dapol did they not?
  18. Probably the wrong place to put this but Hattons have a second hand Well Tank and at quite a good price so thought it worth mentioning: http://www.ehattons.com/81646/Dapol_K2053_LN_Class_0298_Beattie_well_tank_30585_in_BR_black_Pre_owned_Like_new/StockDetail.aspx No links to this or Hattons, just thought there might be someone out there looking for one of these

You'd think he'd time his holidays with Chinese New Year wouldn't you
  20. As a child I used to do the old trick of put an empty crisp packet in a warm oven and watch it shrink. The APT will be plastic, if you put it into an oven for just the right time...........
  21. The way I would look at the deposit scenario is this, does the person developing the model have a past history of delivering good models. If the answer is yes and I want the model then I put down the deposit. If the answer is no then I walk away - there was a proposal for a Leader locomotive a couple of years back, there was no history behind the person doing the model so no way I was going to put money up front. Now if it is a retailer doing this, I am not so sure I would want to put in a deposit as there are now multiple parties involved and more of a risk of one of them going down and my money with it. If it was Hornby, Dapol, Bachmann doing it, no I wouldn't, they are big enough to stand on their own two feet. Then there is DJM, new company, old name - difficult one and I am glad that Dave has gone down the route of putting his money where his mouth is because although I believe he is honest and will deliver good models he has no current history in doing so on his own.
  22. Where will/are the sounds obtained from for the sound chip?
