  1. And I am glad to see that WCRC were completely blameless in this accident. After the incident at Stafford with the DCR 47 there was always the worry that another operator might be found to be cutting corners.
  2. Though if his first figure for restoring it was £10,000 then it would suggest he is not a current restorer of relics.
  3. It will be easier to get to there as well, I hope they have some parking this time.
  4. Could it simply be that like all objects that come into regular contact with the sea and don't get washed they get covered in algae. That would explain a green tinge on an otherwise black object.
  5. Looks like we have a watchman out on the track to protect a team further down, it's a railway again!!
  6. Because the line has been out for several weeks is there any element of re-signing for the route for drivers before trains can restart?
  7. Just a solitary figure visible on the line at the moment hi powered torch in hand inspecting something or other near the wall. Sea is coming in I think, lots of waves tonight. Edit there are several searching the track with powerful flashlights, I think CK has dropped an EM wheelset and they're all looking for it.
  8. Looking at the new concrete L sections which protect both the railway line and the houses, you've got to think those residents are now sitting pretty in their homes with their shiny new strong defences. Pity the rest of the residents along the wall waiting for next winter's storms wondering if they will be washed out at some point. This year was bad, luckily when the wall went and the houses were undermined no one was injured or worse. And there is is buildings insurance renewals, any floods in the past 12 months?

    Peco OHLE

Peco did what they are good at, encouraging the other manufacturers to venture into new areas, remember the Jubilee and how good that was in comparison to other locomotives, then there was the Collett - first chipped locomotive on sale in N, this cantenary and lately the RTR L & B 009 stock. I think when Dapol took up the gauntlet they fully intended a range of OHLE but like everything Dapol it went a bit Pete Tong. But until one of them get a decent range of OHLE out sales of electric stock won't kick off I don't think. But with the modern railway now getting more and more wired the time has come to sort this.
  10. Plankton is not protected and fish forget where they were in seconds
  11. Is there a plan Z, rather than drive a new line inland why not drive the sea south wards. If might be politically and financially easier to design a revised coastline than to push through demolishing homes, buying land, rehousing newts etc before even a yard of track is laid.
  12. Well I suppose apart from the Sc prefix which will go unnoticed by my eyes the livery on my 4 WCML coaches is fine for b/g period on the push pulls because they started out as Inter City branded. Still I would have bought the bookset had I known that Dapol were still planning the release despite C&M abandoning the run due to poor take up on the pre orders.
  13. B*gger, just bought 4 MKIII b/g from Arcadia and Dapol release the Scottish bookset. And £5 less than I paid for them too, suppose it's only a pound when you add the postage,
  14. Too many happier memories of Guide Bridge to want to spend any time looking at its sorry state. It needs completely rebuilding and the redundant land put to good use.
  15. It's Altrincham, but I'll let you off as generally people pronounce it like you spelt it. So not only do you get the last remaining bit of the Tiviot Dale route through South Manchester but you also get to traverse the Denton route in something more comfortable than a Pacer. Remember to shut your eyes though when you get to Guide Bridge, it's not a pretty sight.
  16. No toilets in a 66 then? Couldn't you place a brick on the deadman and stick your bum out of the door, that would have been a sight for the residents of Leicester.
  17. Can I see reinforcement rods there now for the upper level of the fill?
  18. Tracking my coach with Yodel - it seems it arrived in Manchester from Liverpool last night then was sent to the West Midlands before coming straight back to Manchester. How is that efficient use of resources LOL. Parcel out for delivery Middleton service centre 20th Feb 2014 08:50 Parcel received at service centre Middleton service centre 20th Feb 2014 04:17 Despatched from service centre Wednesbury hub 20th Feb 2014 00:28 Parcel received at service centre Wednesbury hub 20th Feb 2014 00:27 Despatched from service centre Manchester service centre 19th Feb 2014 20:27 That's 8 hours in the back of a lorry for nothing.
  19. Thinking should I buy some loco hauled so I can get do a Edin-Glas push pull in blue/grey
  20. They are in stock with Hattons and I've had notification it is being packed, I get mine at £17 (plus postage, would have been nice if I could have combined with some other items to make it more worth the postage), so that is a saving on the current price. Seen the image in Rails, is it worth the is it 2 or 3 year wait, probably not it's only a MKIII buffet but at least I have the full WR rake now.
  21. Finally my B/G is on it's way, not had a notification from Hattons that it is about to be in stock but perhaps they are waiting to see them in the flesh before doing anything. In the past I have had updates when items were about to come into stock.
  22. How do we keep people interested in railways as they go through adolescence? I think we have the answer and it may work on older 'youths' as well.
  23. Actually it was not 298 who resurrected the topic he was merely responding to DPLGs post at 1318 and I don't think his last comment was in any way incendiary nor the one before that about US practice to increase tractive effort.
  24. Sorry I was being sarcastic, it didn't really come through in the written post though.
