  1. I am interested in Departmental use of ex GWR Toad brakevans. Regarding some earlier posts which discussed DW40357; I have looked at the picture of this vehicle as taken in Woodhams yard awaiting scrapping, and I have also looked at a couple of pictures held by the HMRS of the 'same' vehicle in much earlier times at Plymouth. The HMRS picture shows the vehicle as fitted with an end gauge for checking clearances under bridges and in tunnels. Can anyone point me to information which tells of its conversion to a gauging vehicle and then from a gauging vehicle to an inspection vehicle as it appears to have ended its life?
  2. Thanks for the details of past production efforts guys. I was looking to produce a Tunnel Inspection coach which several Collet BSKs were converted into in the late 1950s
  3. Can any one tell me if any manufacturer (model or kit) has produced a Collett BSK (Corridor Brake Second) coach?
  4. First met Iain at one of his modelling courses at Chagford many years ago. A quiet, enthusiastic guy who was willing to advise and help all. My condolences to his family and friends. RIP Iain, you will not be forgotten
  5. Doug was an inspiration many years ago He was a great stalwart of the EMGS, always willing to give advice and help. My condolences to his family and friends. RIP Doug
  6. Great exhibition, GREAT cakes! Thanks to organisers and exhibitors.... roll on next year! 👍
  7. Is Kim's kitchen more important than the actual exhibition?😉
  8. Yes, i was looking to buy a body and put a far better chassis at a different gauge under it. Can in a way understand John's post above, but think it might produce more sales of parts if the policy wasn't so restrictive. Ahh well will have to wait... or not bother with a 94xx at all.
  9. Just thought people might like to know Bachmann Europe's spares policy for newly released locos. Spares such as bodies cannot be purchased for at least ONE YEAR (94xx body), apparently its company policy not to release spares for this period of time! I wonder how their MD would feel if the manufacturer of his brand new car said that he couldn't have spares for a year after he bought it??
  10. Could you reveal your source for the lettering on the coach?
  11. I understand that somewhere there is an Index of the contents of Model Railway Journal Issues. I have tried locating it by using the search mode in this site, but to no avail. Could someone post a link to the index... if it still exists? Many Thanks.
  12. Thanks for the pictures and measurements. The external wheel face to face of a P4 wagon wheel axle is 20.60mm, which will be a bit tight! I notice that the Bachmann axles are a lot larger in diameter than P4 wagon axles so some new machined axles will be called for. I think that the crane might not wish to run with such tight tolerances after modification, and or grinding out the inner faces of the main chassis molding. All in all, a very nice model, but not one I am prepared to have to 'butcher' having paid £200+ for! Again thanks for your help in providing some photos
