  1. Just started weathering Edward Thompson, 60500, alongside 60119 and 60145.

  2. 3rd anniversary with the girlfriend this week, am a very lucky chap.

  3. having driven 144 miles round trip in the Volvo estate one day, and the VW Polo in the other, I can categorically state the 22 year old Volvo is exceedingly more comfortable to drive than the 3 year old Polo. Why are modern cars set so damn hard in the suspension?

  4. 3rd day of work is the hardest, so they tell me! Time for sleep, a 144 mile round trip tomorrow for work beckons...

  5. Nearly finished 60136's tender modifications, now to finish stripping the boiler and cab for the full repaint...!

  6. You've got to be kidding. When was the Midland Compound last in the museum? Oh well, back to working on the Bachmann Emily conversion...

When I said "single" Larry, I meant the Stirling single, which was used in the railway children play this year. As far as I'm concerned it's THE single! ;)

I was also expecting something like a pacific, GNR No.1 or the Dyanomometer Car. Ah well, theres always the future!

  7. first day of work tiring, but highly satisfying. Lucky to have something, even if it's only temporary.

Better to be working than not working. How some people manage to live without a day job makes me wonder.

  8. First day at work going okay so far...

The way my team is playing we will pass you coming down.

  10. 4VEP almost finished, just needs numbers! :) ...and roof vents, replacement bogie wheels, new piping and people. But apart from that, it's nearly done...!

  11. How very interesting. The locomotive was completed in 1923, construction having been started under the auspices of the Great Northern Railway (GNR). It was built as an A1, initially carrying the GNR number 1472, because the LNER had not yet decided on a system-wide numbering scheme.

I always thought it carried GNR but I was wrong. It seemed to carry L&NER 1472. The GNR livery was carried by 1470 and 1471 though. I;ve also got photo's with LNER 1470n and 1471n. I believe some parts of 4472 carry stamps for GNR 1472.

      Only if it's windy!

  13. won a Hornby 8 wheel tender on ebay! Smashing. :)

  14. Has set up his first baseboard for Sidcup, and run the first train over the section. It's been a good day. Time to start planning the scenery.

  15. bogies cut and shut, orange cantrail now red, bogies and undercarriages weathered, vents to fit along with air horns and new piping, oh, and while you're at it, paint out the black peak for an all yellow front. Hornby 4VEP mods continue apace...!!!

  16. One week to the start of my new job - commuting requires the car, so an all round check and test of the Volvo is in order!

  17. Good old fashioned budget modelling part 2: 60136 is born...!

  18. Started on the bogies of the VEP and working my way across the unit...meanwhile, my original 60163 is going to become 60136, which has resulted in a lot of cut and shutting in the tender department...!

  19. 4VEP mods halfway done, roof horns and piping to complete, and then weathering. On the steam front, 60145 has had a lick of paint and will be going for weathering.

  20. 60119, 60145, 60139, 60114 and 60130 now "re-chimneyed". Now what to do about the original 60163...respray and rename?
