  1. https://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/item/ST1461 Ive used this before, thought it was pretty good. You can get big sheets of it for the curves and pointwork.
  2. Getting multiple “error 522” messages again this evening. also getting a number of these;
  3. Absolutely superb buddy, thank you so much. Without this I reckon it would have been yet another none starter for me. I will most definitely be bringing this to life, will be a long haul as quality modelling time is hard to come by at the minute, but I fully intend to see it through. Big thank you to @Flying Pig, @DavidCBroad, @Joseph_Pestell, @Zomboid for their thoughts and input. I will start a thread on this layout once I get myself up and running, but I don’t want to put myself under any pressure with timescales etc. Keep an eye out for it in the layout section! Thanks again folks, much appreciated.
  4. Oh I am happy, most definitely, couldn't be happier in fact. I keep getting my phone out and looking at the plan, thinking of all the possibilities. Quite excited about getting cracking to be honest. I just know @Harlequin was having fun tweaking and suggesting things that's all. Not really a fan of electrics to be honest, even though I've got some 92's on order with Accurascale! I do have an old Hornby 91 with a full set of Mk4's and DVT that I am sentimentally attached too. So could model some drags, just to run them on the layout.
  5. Hi everyone. It's all gone a bit quiet on here, just making that we're all still happy with the look of the design? @Harlequin, the layout hasn't been keeping you up at night tinkering has it????? Also does anyone have any ideas as to how I can print off the layout 1:1 scale? Thanks.
  6. Fair comment about the uncoupling. I've used kadees in the past so I would think i'll go down that route. Not sure to use electro magnets or maybe use neo magnets in strategic places.
  7. @Harlequin, I can't thank you enough for taking the time and effort to help me out like you have. I couldn't have dreamed of coming up with a design as good as this on my own so thank you. I have no issues with you putting this into your gallery, you've done the work, I feel like i'm stealing it off you . The PDF sounds good. How would I print the design off so that it was 1:1 scale? Never done it before, and with that spacer track being so critical, would be good to have a template to work from.
  8. Getting this come up loads. Seems to have happened more often this last week.
  9. i'm trying to visualise what you mean by this, any chance of a quick doodle? I've looked at google earth and it appears to be mostly trees behind the platform area. I think my main scenery focus would be from the right hand tunnel upto the station. I'm thinking retaining wall from the tunnel mouth sloping down to track level with maybe low/half relief housing behind. But that's just a rough sort of idea.
  10. No need to apologise, if you're having fun with it feel free to throw as many plans at me as you wish! I actually felt guilty suggesting alterations to your plan, didn't want to come across as ungrateful. Really enjoying the look of the latest plan, I certainly can't see anything that needs changed or added. But The fiddle yard looks like a layout on its own, love it!!
  11. This certainly works for me @Harlequin, I like the idea of shuffling vans round the east bay area, and the design of the fiddle yard gives some nice length storage. I know I might be being greedy here, but is there anyway to squeeze one more road in above the top platform? then have the carriage sidings come off that? I said further up the thread that I quite like the top right headshunt/loop, it might not be prototypical, but I would use it to possibly stable stock waiting to be attached to trains or coaches that had been removed. I also have no issue with the lift out section being scenic, the scenery would have to be 'robust' to handle being lifted in and out. Not sure how I would put the railway on a bridge as the lift out section is level with the adjacent boards. Unless I lower the lift out section board down which would actually make fitting the board easier........................ The garage is an integral garage, the wall with the pillar attaches to the next door neighbours garage. There is only one pillar thankfully, not sure of its purpose?
  12. Also an interesting picture. There’s certainly more roads than can be squeezed into the track plan! But maybe there is room for perhaps one more siding with a loading dock between the two tracks?
  13. Yep, pretty terrible. Getting quite a few “Error 522” messages.
  14. Just browsing google images and came across this interesting picture; https://i2-prod.plymouthherald.co.uk/incoming/article2435427.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/0_lk190115-tnt-1969.jpg This is the type of scene I'd like to recreate on the model, parcel vans being unloaded in the loading dock (look like GUV's?). A couple of questions regarding the image. Firstly is that a class 42 in the background? What are the brown vans, are they just standard bauxite box vans? Lastly, is that a Gresley buffet coach in the foreground, and what on earth would it be doing there?
  15. Just sat down from work and have been looking at the overall track plan again. Still really really pleased with it. I do like the sound of the extra siding for the east bay area as suggested by @Flying Pig, anything that increases shunting opportunities is a bonus. Was this just another parallel road? Or was it a parallel road with another short road jutting off it? Could possibly use it as a pilot stabling siding? I also like the sound of the fiddle yard design suggested by @Joseph_Pestell with the dead end roads and having two through roads for continuous running.
  16. First of all, a massive thank you to @Harlequin for drawing that up, looks brilliant and far better than anything I could have imagined. Love it. With regards to @Flying Pig comment regarding the up headshunt, I think I would use it for stabling stock? Didn’t coaches get added and removed from trains to and from Penzance? I’m sure I can use it.
  17. That looks superb, you really do have a talent for layout design, looks very professional! Certainly better than some of my half baked ideas . Have you any thoughts as to where the carriage sidings could possibly fit in? I would love to be able to fit them in to offer a little bit of shunting and to stable RES trains like I've seen on the internet. I've got some PCV's, super BG's and GUV's for this very purpose. I know I keep saying this, but I do appreciate the help.
  18. This looks brill. Thanks for taking the time to draw it up and post it. Can I ask why you curved it the other way? Was there a reason in particular? When I finally get round to laying track ill be using code 75, electrofrog points. I'm feeling a tad overwhelmed by it all at the minute, been thinking about it all day
  19. Out of interest, what track work are you using in this diagram?
  20. I’ve only done a design for the east end as there is more interesting track work at that end. Are you suggesting that the west end would make a better layout? The section in the attached picture.
  21. Hi Flying Pig, I’ll address your points; Re: track spacing - I agree the spacing is all over the place, when I started drawing the plan it was just supposed to be a rough idea and it just evolved. I will go back to it tomorrow and sort it properly. Re: platform size - you’re probably right about the amount of platform on show. As I said though, it was just a rough initial plan, once I had “laid” the track I just filled in the areas to show a representation of where they would be, I can easily change that. The lines against the wall are also “off scene” so I’m not too worried about them being near the wall. Re: off scene point work - it’s a brilliant idea to continue the loops round to the fiddle yard, I will look into that when I revisit the plan tomorrow night. Thanks again for you’re input and advice I really do appreciate it. I know I must seem a bit of a numpty with all these daft plans.
  22. Well I know I said I was going to have a night off from Anyrail tonight, but I just couldn't keep away! I've had a bash at designing one half of the plan. I've managed to include all the platforms and also the carriage sidings. I've made use of the annoying pillar by using it as the dead end of the bay platforms. I must admit i'm kinda liking the look of it dare I say? I know the track work on the right hand side may need a few tweaks, but this is 'off scene' so doesn't need to look pretty. Well here goes, here's the plan. Please take a look and feel free to comment.
  23. Could you post a rough sketch of what you mean? I can’t visualise which section you would model. Thanks.
  24. Thanks for all the replies and words of encouragement, I really do appreciate it. @Flying Pig thanks for taking the time do sketch out those schematics, some interesting ideas there. I might give Anyrail a night off tonight after last nights horror show, and go at it fresh tomorrow night. Hopefully by bed time tomorrow night I will have something to look at, and will post something on here for you all to cast your eyes over again. Thanks again to all who have replied.
