      See if they do the band the wrong height on A39... Heads will roll!

      Yes, but in reality the paint doesn't necessarily fade at a uniform rate, so your eyes will perceive differences in shade anyway.

    Had an ultimately exhilarating day working on No. 1 - climbing around in the space behind the buffer beam isn't nearly as claustrophobic as I imagined :)

      Unless preservation, then it could be a trail, some VS class locos had them,

      It's not preservation - in the '50s after its Belpair boiler. I thought that VSs were the only locos in Ireland to have them..? (I've never seen a picture of one without)

    421 will be moved into the gallery tomorrow. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, because it's being appreciated for once, but that removes any hope of at least minor work on it in the short term.
