  1. If you take out a subscription for the paper copy using the in mag promo slip code which controller do you get? Not giving the code out for obvious reasons and happy for a PM'd reply if necessary.
  2. Interesting experience yesterday as I went to buy some gun barrel colouring treatment as suggested in this post On track weathering. Not being of the shooting persuasion, either of wildlife or of clays, when I went into the local gun-shop in Dorchester I expected that there would be a discrete area where you had to ask to enter if you wanted to actually buy one. I was not expecting to be immediately faced with about 50ft of wall space racked out with a vast array of shotguns etc.!! I did get a bottle of the Gun Brown but I will have to wait to try it out as other things are currently getting in the way of finding time for the next spurt of modelling.
  3. Found it but thanks for reply. For some reason my copy/paste of the URL from your post didn't work initially. Do like the Vitacress layout.
  4. Very good tip but for numpties like me assuming that was an insert code you don't actually type the code as shown [space] but type a blank space (or similar) after the colon. Townname is replaced by your text. If this tip isn't in the FAQ could someone add it.
  5. The font and screen colour/layout are two of the many positives of the upgrade. The bit I think was a backwards step in navigation to my posts from the user name drop down I'm now used to and the Activity option works. The top arrow a big help. question - I see from options we can hide a post, can we delete any of our own posts or are they still only deleteable by reporting?
  6. Even without a roof the shed looks good. Several MPDs were stripped of their roofs in the end of steam era, perhaps you can get away without one.
  7. In this forum. Phoenix Yard Pebbles End ( a work in progress) - see my own website. http://www.island-publishing.co.uk/son of card_challenge_07.htm Abbotsea Gardens - Christmas fun pizza layout http://www.island-publishing.co.uk/abbotsea.htm
  8. Marsh Lane. Re notifications. - it was from the bell option. However, problem solved. The post had been deleted. (See Andy's reply)
  9. If a quoted post is advised by a notification, but then deleted, should there be a follow up notification? My notifications say I was quoted by Andy Y (amongst others) an hour ago but either that is incorrect, Andy's post was subsequently deleted, or a something else occurred. I say that as there is not an obvious Andy Y quote of anything of mine from 3hrs back to the current thread end. I did find the others notified, correctly linked to, but not Andy's.
  10. Ok, had never realised the numbers changed as the times I have followed a link like that it worked. Yes, concur the link option is better.
  11. Except that it was when people were referring back to posts in long threads.
  12. We seem to have lost the option to switch that option for mobile view off. Even on a small phone screen most websites are easier to use in "traditional browser" format as the mobile version dumbs things down and removes functionality as the poster above mentions. Sadly. one of the downsides of so called progress.
  13. Follow up query clarifying re above: - are the topics shown below the recent posts onto the new version (which are correct) supposed to be one's I've posted into? Those are the one's that look to possibly be wrong as I've no memory of the topics. One of those has two posts, neither mine, nor is it one I've even viewed. However, it does contain the word New in the post title. Are usernames including words like New, Old, Green, Brown etc getting picked up by the indexing tool? Just a thought. Edit: Is it also including topics I've viewed but not posted into? Again one listed has only three posts, none mine, but I had viewed it.
  14. The website for the York Show was reported to us recently as down (It wasn't) but as a result of checking it several navigation code and other bugs were discovered and are now fixed. One of the issues was our error, for which we apologise, and was a consequence of the URL change mentioned in the post above. I missed updating some of the in-page links. Thank you for the error reports received, if you find any more I/we've missed please let us know. The attending Layouts list was updated a day or so ago (+8 and -1); however, the other attending stands lists are still to be finalised.
  15. Similar problem. Am sorting the stock boxes so that I have one solely for - could run into my shunting plank prototypically - and then the rest. My Class 29, 40, 45 and 50 diesels, and umpteen steam locos will appear if/when it is a fun day and I'm ignoring things like weight limits or era accuracy. Similar issue for stock to scenery match. It will be scenically 1975-1985 but stock from other eras will be run but not mismatched loco era to stock era. I'm sure, with its triangle, Sheffield Exchange is as big a magnet for special trains as Salisbury is.
  16. The option for content I posted in is including several threads in which I haven't and ignoring several where I have. For now assuming this is due to the ongoing background indexing but mentioned in case others have also noticed it.
  17. We will all get used to it like any change but I can't see that a longer winded way to get to your existing content threads is progress. Neither do I like the porthole icons that chop the corners off logos and images but that seems to be what software designers think we all want these days. Initial impressions, retrograde user interface and a disappointing change as the old one did everything I needed. The option to view the standard web version on a mobile phone also seems to have gone. Not yet sure whether that will matter as the new version may be the same on any device. The old one was always easier to use in standard mode. Being positive viewed on my i-pad the menu page does have a cleaner look.
  18. The fresh timber (as in post above) now coated in black to seal it. However, despite two coats now applied to the underside prior to wiring, I've noticed there are still a couple of bare wood patches in the corners where I've missed a bit!
  19. Hopefully not too far off topic, for very small traders, and individuals with relatively small volumes of income, the new £1000 exemption is a big help with filling in the tax return, although obviously you need to keep the records to prove your gross income was below £1k. Not everything HMRC does is unhelpful, other changes too also made this year's return easier to fill in.
  20. That puts these, I think, into the 49-51 era batch as the wording underneath says Graham Farish not Formo.
  21. Mileage. At 1:76 how does 76 times that distance China - U.K. - Aus/NZ equate in scale miles to service miles of the real one? And I guess the container boats carrying it go the long way round the Cape rather than through Suez too.
  22. Insulators / insulfrog (as stated above) needs to be qualified by if the points do what it says on the tin! The recent one's that I bought have needed a lot of fettling to guarantee through connectivity and have become de-facto livefrog style as a consequence. (True live frog is impossible as the frogs are plastic) but the wiring needs became identical in all other respects.
  23. Emails get harvested and used in scams. I bet if someone paid the amount the receiving destination of the payment wouldn't be your email address.
