Not sure that Class 73 banker was really necessary to get them up the hill from St. David’s 🤔

I think you’ve got your captions transposed David; in photo J2995 the loco is 1109 and in J3112 it’s 1987.

Not bad going. The fastest time these days on the ICE is about 1h45 with a stop in Spandau. The maximum line speed on that route now is 230kmh.- 2

Still haven’t received my balance request for the 59/1s. Wondering if everyone else is in the same boat?
Yes, if the Revolution Trains website project page is anything to go by… -

I'm still waiting for them to downscale their MK1 POS Stowage van.
Who knows; the summer announcement is on Wednesday. Only three months ago nobody knew about the LMS twins and yet some people now have them running on their layouts. If anyone’s listening, a 25/3 or a skinhead 31 would also be welcome 😉- 1

I recently acquired some Really Useful Boxes so that I could rehouse all of my rolling stock from the banana boxes I’ve been using up until now. In no time at all, one of the boxes was being examined for suitability as a new sleeping location….

Lovely image, that. Looks like a brand new Italian ferry wagon behind the loco.- 2

J657, a really nice photo with the incidental details - the car, open boot and bonnet, garage door windows etc. And the dog on the lawn.
Given the proximity of the house to the tracks, and the fact that double glazing was probably unheard of at that time, I’ll bet the occupants could hear the point motors from indoors every time they were swung over.- 4

The 155 was a two car unit from new (as shown in both your pictures). Most became class 153s later when they were converted to have a driving cab at both ends to operate as a single coach unit.

I consider myself very lucky then when you lugged it (and yourselves) all the way to Utrecht!

But there is a service station there on the M5 if anyone’s interested…

Driving for 12 hours per day, which is still on the dangerous side in WA!
I once drove from Perth to Shark Bay (850km) but split the journey by stopping the night in Geraldton which is about halfway. Even so, I found it very tiring indeed (much more tiring than London to Fort William which isn’t much shorter and which I had no trouble doing in one day) but that may have had something to do with the tedious ****hole with whom I was travelling 🙄- 1

Can anyone identify the location and if possible the locos number?
Not much to go on... It’s most likely to be a Bath Road loco so finding out which 31s were based there in the early 80s would be a start. If you’re that bothered about finding the number a trawl through Flickr looking for a loco with that same marking on the headcode panel is probably your best bet. Maybe someone is up for the challenge, but I’m not 😝 -
Grab yourself a complete prototypical rake of 20 Peco N Gauge China Clay hopper wagons (TOPS code CDA) in the original ECC International Silver/Blue livery.
All the wagons were bought new and have rarely been used. All are in the original packaging in “as new” condition with no damage or missing pieces.
I would prefer to sell as one complete lot but will consider splitting the wagons into smaller lots subject to interest.- Earliest possible posting date is April 20th.
- Payment by bank transfer only please.
- £200 + £5 P&P (will use Royal Mail tracked delivery service)

Roads under stations? Does anything like that exist in the UK?
I think we can safely say, yes.- 5

Reading. The Inner Distribution Road goes under platforms 4,5 and 6 at the east end.

Pronunciation of railway associated words.

When I started on the Western Region in the late 80s, everyone referred to the commencement board as the “C board” and the termination board as the “T board”. The emergency indicator was called either a dalek or a metal mickey, and the warning board was often called an arrow warning board even though they no longer had an arrow shape by then. Blue was the colour back then, and they were illuminated rather than today’s reflective type. I don’t know if that was just the Western way or whether all the regions used the same style.
The “see bord” comment was just because the thread is about pronunciation.
