  1. I have spent two days trying to improve the ground cover in the yard....to make it more yard like. Having walked away and re looked at it - it still abit too brown I think and needs some subtle greys added. Anyway 47010 has delivered 3 HEAs into the yard and will soon head out 37253 is parked up for the weekend on the stabling point at the other end.
  2. Class 45 flush front it is a no brainer. A lot of people want one, they were such a big part of the rail blue scene. Have the guys at Bachmann a commercial brain? We shall soon find out in January. The Class 37 and 47 could definitely be improved. Get the rivets off around the windows of the 47 and put the right fuel tanks on it would be a good start point. Whether there is a big enough market place for a more correct 47 I am not too sure. Anyway whatever, it is a first world problem. Happy Christmas all... and to those at Bachmann
  3. Just found the box.... It is Marklin
  4. Looking forward to seeing it. My approach, and each to their own, is to get the texture/finish right first and then concentrate on the colour Stage one - mid way through mucking about with Polyfiller Hope this helps - all the best Steve
  5. PIcture here.... https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/ferryitalianinterfrigo
  6. The latest Paul Bartlet has one pictured - is at Dover in 1988. But I do tend to associate them with the late 70s early 80s
  7. Yes please do Joe I really want to recreate a 47 hauled consist of ferry wagons from Dover docks early 80s feel to it. I have this so far, it is HO, I can just about get away with it looking a touch too small if I place it in the right place And the Hornby ferrywagon you can see here, but that is as far as I have got
  8. Yes it is looking really good. Get some ballast oily gunk between the sleepers and it will really come together These are my attempts/experiments This is how polifiller over ballast and weathering powder turned out And this is how fine sand mixed with PVA turned out Cheers Steve
  9. Thanks Joe I was so fixated on the ferry-wagon I did not see them lurking in the background there. Which company made the VTG wagon, so I can keep an eye out for one, although I do not hold out high hopes of finding one. Just found out - It was Dapol
  10. Where did you get your VTG ferry wagon from Joe? As I have always wanted one
  11. Three on ebay now at - 240, 269 and 275 pounds
  12. Hi Andy Thanks, I have stuck a picture in the realistic thread. Once I have the powder mix that I require I mix it with some water to right consistency and paint it on. I always use a horizontal up and down motion with the brush over the roof as well as the sides. Hope this helps Steve
  13. I always find N gauge layouts that are weathered and look the part very impressive, as it takes extra skill to get it right at such as small scale. All the best Steve
  14. Hi Andy No I have put it on wet. I tend to do a few bits such as bogies with paint such railmatch frame dirt black acrylic first. Then I in this instance mixed up my own dirty powder using rusts browns and a hint of black and painted it all over. It seems not to take as well and sits on the surface once dry and then I rubbed it off or worked it in. Then after having rubbed much of it off I worked it in with a soft brush with a hint of white and sand. And then I dry brush on dark brown/black to pick out roof details ect And then use the soft brush on it again. It is the first time I have gone quite so mad with the weathering powder. But the gamble paid off the finished loco looks good. It is filthy south wales rail blue class 37. So that is why I tried this technique. Hope this helps Steve
  15. A few pictures I took today of weathered wagons and one of my 31s. I am trying a new technique to me on a 37 as well I am painting the roof a matt mucky black brown with paint. I then paint the whole loco in grimy weathering power. I leave it to dry and then with a stiff brush work it into the rood and grills and on the sides wipe off with kitchen paper and cotton buds.... So work in progress here
  16. I never knew those other two Cromptons made it to Liverpool Street. Thanks.
  17. Some I came across from 1983 25069 made it to Portsmouth on the Cardiff Portsmouth on September 19th 37092 made it to Brighton March 12th on a football special from Norwich 33057 Liverpool Street May 7th 33106 Dover February 25th
  18. Lovely modeling, really enjoying the thread and thank you for taking the time to put up how you go about things.
  19. I totally agree, it is such a good model but what a shame about the colours after that long wait we had for it too. Cheers Steve
  20. You know what I had not noticed that. And now you point it out they do look a bit wonky don't they, So useful feed back. An area to be revisited
  21. A respray here into the correct blue http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/138966-joe-and-steve%C2%B4s-respraying-and-weathering-of-dapols-73124/
  22. Yes I heard about those workings. I never saw one. Which years did they run? Thanks After posting that, I found this thread. Where I had forgotten I had asked the same question. But no one quite knew when the 37s went to Galley Hill http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/134836-st-leonards-to-brighton-freight-1970s-and-80s/
  23. During rail blue times the main classes were 33,47,50,56 But a few rare ones here https://www.flickr.com/photos/oldbuzzard/6152608544/in/photolist-pHamoA-gzQkrM-pANMTB-dMGaVf-iFnJtb-anFJaE-eDM5iv-X7XXsD-eDM5nk-e2ZhYQ-7Bnv3P-JJeM1L-ANvAFP-XYpsBR-99rn2C-WrmRCX-9JWLLp-gzPikT-9scu7n-9qUVbq-29tWeRo-aikVJb-7iZ2h3-aXbycx-aikyNJ-23FZoEB-eDTbw9-26dzgzB-W6wrgx-2cdFBkZ-26N5jZh-dkAJqK-ENmaxs-9qF4Zc-aikFow-9pN2eq-Yp87Po-VTPeDn-aihHZe-DaDtws-aii7ie-TuMxnM-aii3G6-26dzkqT-YqJxP1-YrCY3B-XCETm8-aikAw5-aihUYH-YBeyFQ https://www.flickr.com/photos/38339202@N00/8322626152/in/photolist-fmCgMy-hSmcrJ-haYhNa-dWyYdG-dVx6gW-dFrDom-aMmHLT-hHXR4d-6GC772-777ry6-dnzPFf-24xWszM-r5wArg-GUCaS7-dryaQN-dFrCNm-dzd3yD-cUiADf-dd6orz-SVrMmA-YAKGe5-aDPiBt-64h3dS-ibtL8y-23uy3en-pNDs8R-75U8mS-dryaYj-75Qe5v-oujpLE-w9Tq7a-75Qb8g-oy8maF-6T3t8p-WGeeDq-rpV7mK-26fkiWa-7P7BoU-qN56D8-7P3G2a-9XFFX5-7P3zkn-aeeN13-HWkGJn-8bKGpc-8bt4co-aeeQ4S-aEXUiy-8V51eG-r6ACya https://www.flickr.com/photos/d33206hg/6335150773/in/photolist-aDPiBt-64h3dS-ibtL8y-23uy3en-pNDs8R-75U8mS-dryaYj-75Qe5v-oujpLE-w9Tq7a-75Qb8g-oy8maF-6T3t8p-WGeeDq-rpV7mK-26fkiWa-7P7BoU-qN56D8-7P3G2a-9XFFX5-7P3zkn-aeeN13-HWkGJn-8bKGpc-8bt4co-aeeQ4S-aEXUiy-8V51eG-r6ACya-HXkrZB-BBVw6i-Nnorci-rptR8c-DDxNEi-2byXznE-24SiVVJ-te1Goz-x4tNwJ-sZBETq-sZMKEt-w9w7W1-wNT9RQ-sZML8c-wP2gbA-tWoveQ-w9H8rr-tWLgjv-sZBEYA-tWCPtR-tmcKNG https://www.flickr.com/photos/tunnel_one/44587637695/in/photolist-J4PYvC-gPmv2E-JEZh4C-gPomFQ-d9TvHA-Jk5aJB-9hUQLo-9ayMoP-a4fBJd-r8nSM4-XYz5PG-CB9Ajt-sD2WMd-2aW4ih4-FB4d1Z-stmMay-te1Goz-vyCeGq-w6azro-vhACdW-Gu3SBL-wP5DAk-tD8nQc-w9BGg7-w9w7W1-w9w1WA-w9zz94-wa8RSS-rpBNQb-tDmYcT-qwzryp-apW7jZ-qsvWf1-3JuGG4-qrTKSt-d9Tu7g-V2DTBB-roA9pS-raXNTp-sG1hcL-Z68FNN-P9VVk7-sEuw87-q1LWdS-26YbfCD-M9rC3o-rWYHLg-BMBQEr-MwBQjb-LUA71q https://www.flickr.com/photos/8708923@N03/24457197277/in/photolist-DgcwF8-25bcCYn-S4t6wK-RZR1HY-ddYdG4-Etx7Az-jnxsS8-22SVFRC-aRZe5g-GtuGk1-bZUaVs-snGLFG-9TKAes-7ShYda-bxHE9D-5bL5PK-9TGNJR-aV33Mx-6obKdk-aaBnHS-92FRnP-XU5jXx-a1WAdy-TG1JGg-fupN4z-aV34pr-aaynkt-6nqU8U-eX198e-BLDjZg-a9ox4M-Wv3Lsv-7Sm4rY-FbbC4V-R49y2d-AWxFqu-XNXadh-EMFu3w-HQLU5X-BrPhYL-K6JTSi-6mK3su-bFEjq8-GaJkrz-7GNDoZ-fuqgxP-BRCnDm-ae7VHV-qhVQZo-s6pHXc https://www.flickr.com/search/?q=40001%20eastleigh
