GWR Departmental Toad conversions
kingfisher9147 replied to SteamingWales's topic in GWR Rolling Stock: model and prototype
There was different designs of toads used. In GWR wagon book it shows you several. There is one on the 7valley railway. Any model toad you can get would do. Mike -
With the carriages, why not buy kits like Slater, ratio, etc or adapt and make your own? I have done that in both 009 and 00 due to nothing being available. Mike

https://www.glrailways.co.uk My mistake on the name, here is the correct one. Mike

GRL models are doing flexible magnetic couplings suitable for steam era. Coaches are a pain in length like wagons never have the ones you want.

2 things too suggested with this plan, is keep it simple due to cost but also if need replacing or fixing. The other one is have it on module boards but no bigger than 2ft x 4ft. I know it will cost more but would be easy to dismantle but also transporting if moving house. Mike

There is a good vid by bfi train times that shows the movement of fish. Special trains would be arrange with certain pick up and drop off points. Depending on your layout you can decide on where you would want goods dropped off. There is a book by light Moor on handling good on the lner which might help, I am sure that there are other books about to help. Mike

Hi all, does anyone know where I might find either pictures or information about transport formation of ww2 when the army were moving tanks, jeeps etc. I want some idea to help with a model project. Thanks Mike

Hi all, did railway police vehicles have or received BR marking in the 50s/60s? Or were they just standard police markings. I was just wondering as other transport under BR had some form of rail marking. Mike

It looks like it was around in the 50s due to the writing style. I am not sure what they used as fire extinguisher manufacturers each had they own mixture for fight fires. One of the fire brigade museums might be able to help or the fire brigade society or one of the fir groups on Facebook. Mike

Bogie Well wagon at side of A484
kingfisher9147 replied to Jenny Emily's topic in UK Prototype Questions
Ah I know the story behind it. When the gwili was planning to extend to conwil where this wagon is, it was changed to the new current station of abergwili due to the cost of the repair of the bridge to a better safety standard. I have got footage of the work. It is a GWR crocodile and when things changed and track and equipment was moved, the bogie pins had broke inside the bogie and the railway at the time did not have the money or equipment power to move it but is on top of the list to rescue when we get across the bridge with the new crane. This is a interesting topic, reading the history of island sodor, the NWR had 80 engines in total and we only saw a few of them. Peel of godred branch has interesting fleet of locos all overhead equipment which include class 86/87 and emus, also there was supposed to be a monorail at the aluminium company. The Thomas fandom have done this, look at the island of sodor website and go to extended railway series you can see what has been done. Look forward to seeing more.

My suggestion with a TT is get the peco one and adapt it unless you either go with a Dapol or Hornby one. There are Ho scale one but keep 8t simple. Mike

Hi, I am having trouble with the dummy bogie wheels on my triang class 101 and bluepullman Dmu. They jump over my points code 100,cause the unit to derail. The motors have been reprofiled for code 100 but not done anything to the wheels on the dummy bogies. Does anyone know how to replace them? I have seen video on people doing it to wagons and coaches but not sure if I can use the same technique on the Dmu and blue pullman. Can anyone please help? Thanks
