  1. Glad you enjoyed the visit. Come for the Christmas show if you can. Hope to start soon. Mike
  2. Finally been able to get to dogfish wagons, which is one more item off the list. Nameplates are being made, so hopefully be here soon. Work has started on abergwili which might see some interesting trains working? Hope to start laying track soon. Mike
  3. There are certain rules over propelling carriages with people on them. The only time people shouldn't be on a train being propelled is during shunting movements or if it is blocking the driver view but rules do change depending on the railway. Mike
  4. Hi I have got mainline gwr 66xx which I picked up with some other model. The loco runs but it sounds like gears grinding. Where could I get replacement set of gears or alternative in oo gauge. Thanks mike

  7. Hello there, I have bought a Heljan 13xx pannier with 2 of the buffers with the collar as well missing. I am looking for replacement but I am not sure which would be best suited for the model as looking around it hard to tell from pictures of model buffers which look right. Can anyone please help. Thanks mike
  8. Things have been a bit quiet but also a bit mad. The gwili has taken homeage to a class43 Hst125. Plans for some new carriage RU to be used on cream tea but also plans to start work on abergwili it self. For my model version of llc is still being planned as where I was doing the main track work is in a mess with builders doing some major work to the building. So been doing some maintenance to them, and working out what I have got. A new list to be done in due course. Also reuploading pictures.
  9. I would say a generator. Seen some similar used in ww2 etc. Mike
  10. Also the track plan would also help as you would get a idea of numbers of levels needed, help with size of box. It is a Gw7D box, when I had a look for a pic. The signal box society says it. https://www.s-r-s.org.uk/html/gwm/S2093.htm Mike
  11. Ask them now while it is quite, you might be able to see things if it is just you. Than when it is busy.
  12. I have heard of the nymr. Love to visit one day, perhaps you should have a chat with the nymr and see if you can have access or help with your layout planning.
  13. For figures, modelu or monty models. Working a single gate crossing big or small can be very dangerous. Some don't all have wheels to work them, some were a catch and lock. Farm Cross gates or private people would either leave the gate open or just look one way not the other. Even dangerous for signalman or gate keeper dealing with both rail and road transport. I have done gate duty not a nice job when people try to race the gate.
  14. With the national archives would it be the one at Kew or one of railway ones?
  15. The Gwili Railway answer to Blackpool at christmas. the valley of lights
  16. The tamper has come to do work. OK not like the real one that is due to work but close enough. Mike
  17. Very nice, just one question, where is the brakes and where is the guard going to go? Mike
  18. Gone to mark out the track plan but as usual something has happened to change the plan. Luckily I had not fully put them together but just using the flat tops of the boards to make it easier to put things out. Busy time with Christmas but gots some pictures of the train in action which I was lucky to get due to carparking duty not for the fainthearted. Got some new carriage and a peckett w4 for Christmas. Got to do a new stock take on what I have got. Shame the Manor I had ordered is delayed due to covid. Some of the locomotives were on ITV Wales news. Mike
  19. Some testing stock Photo's to share with you . These will be running on LLC but to save them from being stuck in the draw and box, I thought I give them a test run at SRMG Swansea railway model group. Diesel line up class 08,03,20 Andrew Barclay Victory and AEC railcar Aec Railcar Line up of J94's Right to left of the photo Haulwen in green, Phoenix in blue, Welsh Guardsman in black with lamp on front Visitor from the lner. I hope to get some of the christmas train when I am at the railway next. mike
  20. Like every thing, the build is on hold for the moment. Since my last post I have been working at the railway and it is surprising how you can forget to do some modelling. I have been adding more information on the railway in my research file which has helped me with what trains did run on the line. Found the in the railway book shed in the book 'the teifi Valley railway' by Roger padfield and barrie burgess. It covers all the railway companies that had used the line with what motive power some of which model companies made. They is some information errors but can't be always right. I heard from one source that a class 52 western did once run on the line love to find out if it was true. Done some coupling repairs on some stock but they don't seem to all run happily but can find a use for them. There's talk of a HST power car coming to the railway but weather it will run is another story. A couple of J72 and J83 acting as visitors for standby models. Would love to model the Christmas train with lights but in OO gauge I don't think there's something suitable on the market. Mike
  21. I know that, this was one of two plastic locomotives I could pick up cheaply just for a model project, that I could use and play around with easily. Mike
