  1. Try ebay or the o gauge guild or 7mm narrow gauge society as they do have links to help you find a way of getting them to the USA.
  2. Bought them from scale model scenery micro layout ones. The ones that fit into a 6ft Christmas tree box.
  3. In 1913 the national poultry made a trip along the line with demonstration car. For eggs and chickens, found that on disused Station website
  4. The boards are due monday, so hopeful can make a start. But I have been researching the traffic on the line in GWR/BR DAYS, and think I have got some idea of what goods and passenger working happen on the line. Until I am next at my model club where there should still be a copy of Bradshaw guide, I have been going through two book The manchester and Miford railway by oakwood press and the Aberystwyth to carmarthen book by middleton press. Both have been really helpful but the one that middleton press have done helps more by putting some OS maps which does gives you some idea of what was in the area, well worth getting! I have worked out from it and from what people have said on this thread what traffic there was a lot of it guess work. Woolen mills- incoming wool, dye, equipment, coal. outgoing Cloth, blankets etc? 6. I did think about looking at Bradshaw guides, as it would or should tell us what industry was in the area to give us an idea on what traffic and goods wagons would be needed for the line.
  7. I am going to try Swindon and Welsh archives in Aberystwyth as they might have something.
  8. https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/163101-gwili-railway-heritage-railway-llc-station-oo-gauge/ this is it mainly in the planning stage. Mike
  9. I was not sure what was in the area or what else ran on the line as most of the book's I have been using or asking people that know the area on listed or tell me general things like I have said. I was seeing what others might know. Mike
  10. Found this very helpful with my model of the area. Apart from special freight trains what would be the other freight trains be? I know that in the area that there was wool, coal, coke, milk, timber, cattle, meat, lime. Would be there be fish, fruit, bricks, scrap, stone, chemical trains etc. Mike
  11. Like with everything at the moment there are delay's in starting due to shortage which is not a bad thing really as it given me more time to test my models outs but also do more research into the area and what run there before it came a heritage railway, been able to find a fair bit out. My loco list has expanded more and a up to date one will go up in due course. here are some pictures of the station during it use as a heritage line. Not happy with some of my kit stock, so looking for R-T-R which I can find. the kit ones will be ok for siding's than running.
  12. There is a book on llanelli dock railways, has some info on that railway. there might be some in different books on railways in wales. but west wales does get left out anything further than cardiff. There is a book on the Gwendreath valley that does have information in it. There are some of the loco's still about , 1 at the kidwelly muesum, and some odd bits at cynheidre but not much. mike one of the 16xx 1638 that did run on that line is still about on the dart valley raiwlay. mike
  13. Hi Neil, just come across your thread. I am modelling the gwili railway and during my research came across this book by oakwood press on the Manchester and milford railway by j. S holden. There's some good information on the Newcastle Emlyn branch but also about the stock. Hope this helps Mike
  14. Hi I am trying to find out information about the goods traffic on the carmarthen to Aberystwyth line between grouping to end of the line closing in 70's. I know some would be coal, timber, wool, milk, cattle, stone, farming. Maybe more but I am not sure like fish, meat, vegetables, fruits etc. Would there be a normal goods train or some attached to passenger trains? What wagons should I be looking for in oo gauge? I know there was ammo trains going on to Chester during the ww2, what wagons be used for that? Thanks mike
  15. Hi All, I am trying to turn a Hornby MK1 TSO coach into the Bar coach on the Gwili railway that I am modelling. I thought I was going to have a level floor but have to put up with Hornby plastic insert. What I want some help/advice on is what thickness of plastic card would be best to use to replace the plastic moulding of the TSO? the other problem I have with this build is the round circles that are on the coach floor where the coach bogies fit into on the floor as well. Mike

  17. Phoenix, a Dapol J94. been repainted into the blue livery from being black. Some detail work to do before it can go into passenger service.
  18. Track plan of LLC, so from the plan you can see. the main running line with with loop and hopeful a siding into C&W WORKSHOP. there is a plan to put in a bit of 009 to act as 7 1/4 inch gauge but might have another think about that part. the board is 1657 mm longs by 221mm wide with the height at 250mm.
  19. As far as I know, the pictures of the crane as Jon took is the crane as it is today. I don't know if the Gwili did take the tanks off it, I would have to ask the HOD of C &W, as Far as I am wear of it never had those tank on it, I have been a volunteer down there for a good while. The crane has had very limited use since the railway new crane but it has done it job. to really work with these cranes you need at least 2 of them as they can't help much with a derailed train. mike
  20. A complete rrv Excavator that I have based on at the gwili railway mike
  21. Not much to update at present due to many different things delayed by covid-19, which is a shame when you want to get on with things but that is life. I have been repainting one of my J94s into the colour of Phoenix which use to belong to the Swansea vale railway before moving to the Gwili. I am slowly building a pair of Dogfish wagons which were on the line at one point before being sold but are back with a shark to help with ballast work. I am also building a model of the tea rooms from ratio ground coach body's and also doing a toad done as Santa grotto during some of the early christmas at the gwili. I thought I would add some photo's of the locos so far and the RRV excavator I have just finished based on the one at the gwili. https://flic.kr/s/aHsmUXzimz mike
  22. Thank all for the help, I know most loco's of many different regions were done but when you are having a talk about it and you ask the pc and you are given so many different answers you are never to sure. It's like I have started to pick up some of the Hornby and lima wagons which have brand names on them like Tango, wheatabix etc but when looking them up, you can never find what you are looking for. but love the research. mike
  23. So I thought I would put up THE STOCK list.
