  1. And 10 mins later Hornby sent an email saying their BR black late crest Terrier was 'imminent', closely followed by Dapol repeating what Rails said in their email. My inbox is suffering Terrier overload.
  2. How about Thomas' mate James 'The big red engine' Name says it all really. Hat coat etc....
  3. The C class in wartime grey was only available through the Collectors Club hence it's rarity. RobMCG image above is the N class in wartime grey, which I believe was only available in a wooden box limited edition with the same loco in SR olive. It is however (N class ) readily available in N gauge in SECR grey. Now back to the Hornby J36 ...............
  4. Good to see they've separated the birdcages and C class. In December they were saying all were expected in June. Now my card will have time to recover from the birdcages in April until the C class in August. Phew !
  5. Can't believe the 2019 range has just been announced, and people are frothing about 2020 already
  6. Cheers Neil, Popped into Janes Trains in Tooting this afternoon. Had a look at 759 Yeo in Southern livery. Second batch for sure, and Jane ran it up and down the test track for good measure. Smooth and quiet straight out of the box. Very happy with my purchase.
  7. So is there a way of distinguishing between the modified second batch and the original release, either by examining the model or by a different product code ? I'm thinking of risking a purchase in the belief that problems encountered get publicised but happy owners don't post.
  8. Good to see some progress Blackened wheels and motion will make a big difference to the final appearance but it's looking good to me as an admittedly non expert when it comes to the GWR
  9. I was on the verge of ordering a couple of the Rails / Dapol Terriers, but will wait to see what Hornby's are like before deciding. Choice is all well and good, but the potential profit loss to both parties due to duplication is worrying. I hope Rails and Hornby don't fall out over the Terrier the way Hattons and Bachmann seem to have over the 66
  10. So how tall are the BRM team ? My 4 figures are betwen 27 & 28mm high. At 1:76 that makes them between 2.05 & 2.1 metres tall. That's 6ft 9ins to 6ft 11 in old money. Oops, just seen the above post !
  11. With Hornbys affection for Pullmans, I wonder if they might produce earlier versions (with cream panels over the windows (cant rails ?)) I've seen pics of them pulled by pre-grouping locos such as GN and Brighton Atlantics in this livery. This would resolve the 'nothing for it to pull' argument levelled at pre-grouping locos.
  12. Mine played fine in my Blu-ray player. 3 layouts had no sound and much of the footage was jerky, especially noticeable on slow moving trains which seemed to pulse rather than glide along. But hey, it's a freebee and I enjoyed watching. Don't think Mr York and co need worry about the competition in the free DVD market though.
  13. Steam: GNR / LNER J6 SECR D class Diesel: DAVE DON'T DO DIESELS Coaches: GWR clerestory Gresley articulated stock (hopefully with better teak effect than recent efforts) Wagons: SECR dance hall brake Surprise: O gauge (they do have a history!)
  14. All versions £500 today only at Hattons
  15. 4 models in various liveries on the Heljan stand at Warley this weekend. I'm no expert on the GWR but they did look stunning. Hopefully someone will post some pics as I forgot to charge my phone and the battery crapped out on the train from Euston to NEC. Expected January 2019 according to the chap on the stand.
  16. Just picked one of these up from the Rails stand at Warley. £495 in Great Western livery 6110. Very impressed. Was going to wait for the Dapol small prairie but couldn't resist this.
  17. According to Dapol at Warley, livery samples are due in January 2019 and release is expected to be in the summer of 2019. For those interested, the 14XX is expected a few months later.
  18. I seem to remember one of the Bachmann pre-production samples in the members lounge at Warley two years ago was fitted with bogie brakes. Maybe a limited club edition is in the offing ? Your post 322 in the H2 thread has a picture.
  19. So it's a hybrid then If someone will confirm that the LNER version will be lined, I'll put an order in for sure
  20. Bet it didn't stay orange for long in service.
  21. With no RTR stock for it to pull, a drab livery (by pre-grouping standards) and a fairly high retail price, I doubt this will be a big seller. The E4 in similar livery is still readily available in the U.K. A shame, as it is a stunning model. Bachmann deserve great credit. Mine is apparently 'in the post' according to Rails
  22. Lots of Terrier bargains at Hattons at the moment
  23. I spend plenty in Janes shop thank-you very much. I've never asked them to price match, and I've never asked for advice and then gone to a box shifter for the purchase. Don't be so quick to judge.
  24. Supporting your local model shop is all well and good, but a lot easier if your LHS is large and well stocked like Rails or Hattons. My local shop is Janes Trains in Tooting. It's an hour round trip on my bike, nearer two hours on public transport. Probably quicker by car, but local parking is virtually impossible. Jane and her team are wonderful people. Very friendly and knowledgeable, and would bend over backwards to help their customers. But it's a small shop and the ranges held in stock are of necessity, limited. If I was after the latest marvel from Bachmann or Hornby, fine. But if I'm after GWR spear fencing in O gauge, or a white metal wotsit to correct my thingamybob, probably not. There must be tens of thousands of low price items aimed at railway modellers that a small shop would not stock due to space limitations and too small margins. By shopping on line I can have my hearts desire within a few days from anywhere in the world. And I'm sorry, but on price, I'd rather as much of MY money stayed in MY pocket as possible. I cannot justify 'throwing away' a wad of cash just to help a local shop make more money when my chosen 'box shifter' has the same loco 20% cheaper.
  25. I'm no expert either, but your Prairie seems to be a wheel or two short.
