  1. Can someone clarify, on the LB&SCR livery I've seen it referred to as both Mahogany and Umber. Does the mahogany mean unpainted with wood grain effect as these types of carriage were originally built, or is it a flat colour called mahogany ? Sorry if this has already been discussed on one of the other 88 pages.
  2. Hey Oliver, Will we get to see the LNER liveried version livery sample as well ? Looking good BTW.
  3. It doesn't matter who the landlord is. The point is that they believe they can make more money by letting the premises to someone else.
  4. Yes ! I remember my Nan taking me there when I went to stay with them during the school summer holidays in the 1970s. I wasn't into trains then, but remember cabinets full of built models and staff very knowledgeable about their construction. Helping Nan with her household chores was usually rewarded with an Airfix series 2 or 3 kit ! The building was still there a couple of years ago (A wool shop IIRC) but most of the area around it has been 'modernised'
  5. Just been to the shop. Very sad news. Most of my railway and military books and many kits and model railway items were purchased at the Waterloo shop. Must have spent a few grand in there over the years . The person I spoke to behind the counter said the main reason for the closure was the landlord wanting to increase the rent. A 'To Let' sign is already above the door. Probably be another coffee shop / fast food outlet we don't need Best wishes for the future to Kerry and the rest of the wonderful team.
  6. So does the 'sub £200' price statement no longer stand ?
  7. Presumably the Southern olive colour won't be accepted for production
  8. Just been advised by Rails that the price for the Midland livery version will be £127.45. I'm guessing that's 15% off Bachmanns RRP.
  9. Try searching for 1:72 highlander. You might have to do some alterations though.
  10. The fact that it's an add on component means it can be easily replaced. If it is like that on the production models, I'm sure one of the after market boys will come up with a more accurate alternative for a couple of quid. Looks like a fine model of a hansom prototype and my order is already in.
  11. The launch review in Model Rail states that in the limited edition Triang boxing the coaches are more detailed. Is this the case ? I know they have different names to the main range edition but thought the contents were otherwise identical. Anybody know the truth ?
  12. I'm OK with this new approach. I always found it frustrating when a new model was announced getting all excited and eager to get my grubby mitts on it but then realising I would have to wait 2-5 years. Hopefully the wait from livery sample to delivery will be months rather than years.
  13. Outback Model Company in Australia make all the buildings for Lynton Station. They are laser cut card kits. I believe the set is about £150 but don't quote me. The Lynton and Barnstaple Measured and Drawn is an awesom book for anyone modelling the L&B. Highly recommended, but expect to pay around the £60 mark.
  14. Yeah I'll leave the arguments to the experts on here. I'm off to play trains with my new Hornby LSWR brake van
  15. In the Feb 2020 issue of Railway Modeller the 'Railway of the Month' is Semley. It's LSWR to P4 standards. It looks awsome and well researched. The LSWR brake van in the photo on page 100 looks to be the same colour as the Hornby model.
  16. Really ? I'd put money on the NER livery being the best seller. Regardless of prototype fidelity the world loves a pretty loco and this one qualifies IMHO.
  17. Keeping with the generic theme, they should put an elephant in instead and then paint it to look like a giraff or a tiger or a zebra etc etc etc......
  18. Which is not what I was told. A case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is up to maybe ?
  19. Perhaps the S&DJR version will be a Collectors Club edition ?
  20. The chap I spoke to on the Dapol stand at Warley said these were on board ship and he seemed confident they would be in the shops by Chr*****s.
  21. Most versions were on Rails stand at Warley for £120.
