  1. Just a thought George but could you use Kirtley Pete's method of applying a printed livery to your loco? Would be fitting somehow He's got some excellent results with his Saltdean layout. Merry Christmas
  2. Merry Christmas to you and yours Sandy. Looking forward to your postings in the new year.
  3. George the G6 is one of Jim's earlier models with a spartan cab, but you can copy the O2 which was similar. Still makes a nice model.
  4. A well deserved win there Gary. I did enjoy Peashore Yard too.
  5. Didn't the builder of the £100 layout a couple of years ago use a cardboard baseboard? On my mobile atm so I'm not even trying to search for it
  6. Perplexing isn't it? (What nobody told me was that childcare now lasts into their thirties....)
  7. Thanks Sandy, I have a lot of tools in my workshop but i usually end up using the same half dozen tools every time as i know exactly what they will do. A sand blaster is one of those luxury tools you never know if it would be worth exploring or not. Unfortunately I don't know anyone local who'd let me play with one....
  8. I notice that the 4-4-0 looks to have been sand blasted whereas the diesel wasn't. Any particular reason why one and not the other?
  9. He should run it as an example of "Tavern usage"... ps Enjoyed your split axle CD. You should do more. I'd have liked to have seen the rest of the Radial build.
  10. Hah That solebar bend under the tumblehome is always fun. Especially if there are ventilation grills just above the fold.
  11. It may be boring, but it does give an individualty that's completely lacking with printed brick sheets.
  12. "...but it's surely nice to always have something on the go?" No it's best to have free time to do what you want....
  13. Agree with Andy. We need to see the fruits of your labours
  14. Your story of double declutching in boots struck a chord. I was once late for cadets and borrowed my brothers 150 beezer only to find the toe clutch nearly impossible with those bloody great boots......
  15. Thank you for detailing your builds. This has been on my wish list since I saw Giles's wonderful model.
  16. Thanks for taking the time to show the failure as well as success. Too often we get the sanitised version and we all know the cursing that really goes on
  17. Enjoyed the photos. One or two outstanding exhibits. You wonder how they transported them.
  18. Following a suggestion I read online I made a small chisel from a broken hacksaw blade, ground on the one side. It's about four inches long and a quarter of an inch across the tip. Perfect for cutting tags.
  19. Think positive. Leave the stripes to Andy..........
  20. Hope so. Not forgetting the Jubilee in the pile.......
  21. Whenever I cut myself with scalpel blade or chisel I usually dab some super glue on it. Yes it stings briefly, but it holds the edges nicely together. Then a quick wrap of masking tape over the top just keeps the dirt out. Done it for years
  22. Keep up the good work George..... Andy's starting to weaken
  23. Very impressive modelling. When will it be on show again?
