Just a thought Andrew but was the wagon over clamped when the glue was setting?
It looks like the corners joints are dictating the shape.
Seen similar in woodworking.
Second the recommendation for Abe books.
Get most of my railway reference books from there at reasonable prices..
Best of all they will save your wants and email you when a copy surfaces.
BTW great thread Andrew. Don't stop .
Simon's book has only been out for 6-9 months. It's in his thread in this forum.
It's a tricky topic to cover.
From amateur to expert. Each will be looking for different things.
But all of them are excellent (and in my collection )
I find these posts by N15, Sandy and Jazz etc. to be very informative and welcome.
Especially since many kit makers are falling slowly to the trackside.....
Long may they continue to post.
I'm just taking a break from my bench after cursing O gauge for being so damned fiddly and you show me that........
Can't wait to see your 2mm lamp irons
A bit late to the discussion, but wanted to add that D&S do a brass kit for two of the coaches on the one etch.
The perfect accompaniment to the Y6.
Was on his stand at Kettering on Saturday.
Part 1 was in 1999 issue no 114 and part 5 in 2000. issue no118 .
Sadly I've no idea how many parts it took.
The end model was very nice indeed.
So frustrating to have only the two parts but the illustrations are very good indeed.
If you have no luck pm me and I'll scan what I have.
And keep up the good work!
I bought the 5" version at Telford this year as a little luxury to speed my work flow.
Sadly I rarely use it, as it's quicker/more natural to use my accustomed methods.
Like all hand tool users you find what works for you and you stick with it.
Familiar tools provide familiar results.
I will try to make an effort to use it before it gets consigned elsewhere
Just wanted to say thanks Sandy.
Postings such as yours, Jazz, N15, Ozzyo & Sej etc., are a great incentive to those of us who are new to kit building.
Often it's just knowing where to start and a walk through is worth a thousand words
Best wishes
Your book arrived this morning, so a quick note to say well done.
It's a nice size and set out with lots of lovely photos and illustrations, just right for reading in bed or propping on the workbench.
You've struck the balance between detail and general advice very well.
