  1. Hi, Does anybody know if any of the parallel boilered Patriots received post war straw lined LMS black livery? Thanks, Pete.
  2. Thanks so much for that, information passed on! Cheers Pete.
  3. That's a real shame. I visited a good few times over the years for models and bits n bobs. The chip'ole there wasn't too shabby either.
  4. Asking for a friend....does anybody know of a well stocked model shops in Paris that are easily accessible by public transport? (He's after Portuguese and German models, not British outline). Google searching for model shops brings up lots of shops that don't seem to stock model railways, or if they do, it's not their primary stock. Thanks
  5. I snipped the NEM pocket off and tided it up with a file and put it back on the right way round. Next I will delve into the lighting as I would like the marker lights on the front to light up read in reverse and go off forwards.
  6. As a South Yorkshire lad, it would be rude not to
  7. Thanks Roy. Will that have to be reapplied over time or is it pretty permanent? I still would have to open up the model though to stop the lights working whilst traveling forwards.
  8. I'm running dc. I'm wondering if there might be a microswitch on the blanking plug like Dapol class 22s? Nothing in the instructions I can find
  9. Is there any way of turning the cab lighting off? One of my pet hates! Also the front red marker lights are not red and light up going forwards as well as backwards. I think a modification will be required there. A diode will sort the direction but I've yet to have a peep to see they can be coloured easily or not. Otherwise a beautiful model. I'm very pleased with her.
  10. I don't have one so I don't know....but what was wrong with the old Bachmann 20?
  11. Aha! that would explain it. I didn't know they were based there.
  12. I'd be interested to know how somebody in Canada managed to get their GT3, but nobody else has?
  13. Reminiscent of Metrovic Cobos I wonder of there's a case to make the manufacturer change the engine mounts for something more shock absorbing. That sort of undamped heavy vibration fatigues all sorts of things in the long run.
  14. I thought the valvegear looked pretty awful for that sort of money. However I can imagine the body fittings on that would take some considerable time and effort to manufacture and to fit properly.
  15. Heljan gave a donation to Bury hydraulic group when they did the class 14 for Hattons, and the same again to the Class 15 Preservation Society (who are restoring the CoBo) when they did the class 28 also for Hattons. When the Little Loco company did it's O gauge class 15 they donated ALL the profits to the Class 15 Preservation Society. Sadly the guy running that outfit became ill with cancer and as far as I know the company is in hibernation now.
  16. It's the actual Stevenson's eccentrics part I'm on about. I imagine they will be very difficult to model effectively and reliably. Also do you know if there are any other surviving locos that have Gooch valve gear? As it is I believe that Bellerophon is the oldest loco in the world with piston valves, having a unique valve gear would make it even a more special loco.
  17. It will be very interesting to see how the Stevenson Eccentric valvegear works on Bellerophon. Has this ever been done before in model form before, maybe a foreign outline model? and if so how successfully does it work?
  18. Seems that it's a missed opportunity to waste the effort of a new model of something there there is already a good model instead of filling a gap, for example a 3mt 2-6-0 to go along with the lovely looking 2mt 2-6-0.
  19. They could do a Scot in Apple Green too. IIRC Mainline did one in the 80s
  20. The Thomas model was modified from the old Hornby LBSC E2, and it's now returned as an SECR J2? I'm confused! Or have I missed something?
  21. Surprisingly, the Chinese made Hornby class 29s from about 20 years ago had better printing than the Dapol one of the worksplate. They really look like the aluminium NBL diamonds. Oddly I think the number on the worksplate of the Hornby version is one from a class 22, not 21. Apologies for the Hornby one being slightly out of focus.
  22. I'm quite surprised that Kernow haven't done some more of these fine locos considering how well they sold out last time. We've more D6xx's on the way which is most welcomed. I would love to get my mitts on 10203 in it's final guise with a SYP which I don't think Kernow did. Interesting fact that in the last 18 months by far the most models I have bought or ordered have been from start up or shop based manufacturers with the exception of Dapol. Not bought a single new Hornby or Bachmann loco in that time.
  23. Really nice to see a further production run of these. I'll be buying D604 for sure. Cossack was a really shy beast. I don't think I've seen more than a couple of pictures of it ever. I only ever saw Ark Royal for real in a very sorry state at Barry in the late 70s as a kid. I've always loved them ever since that day.
