  1. How do I access the cab to fit crew? Or us it a case of trying to stick them through the cab sides? (Cross Post from modelling help) TIA
  2. How do I access the cab to fit the crew? I can get the chassis off but that's it. I couldn't even find am exploded diagram like I'm familiar with for Bachmann on30 stuff. (Cross Post from modelling help) TIA
  3. To save messing around with glue I was considering printing the sheets with the final texture on A4 adhesive labels. Has anyone tried this? Are their any pitfalls or issues I am not thinking about? TIA
  4. I'm planning a micro layout. DCC with just a single point powered by a cobalt ip digital I have spare. I want to add one or two electromagnetic uncouplers for dingham or sprat and winkle, which one TBC, but same requirement. I don't really want to have a separate power pack at 16V for the electromagnets. Is there a simple (simple is key!!) Way of running the electromagnets off the DCC bus? I'm not likely to bother with DCCcontrol. A push button will be fine for control, it's just a power source needed. TiA
  5. What headcodes did they use within Southampton Dock? I haven't found any pictures of B4s at the docks. The USA tanks I have found seem to have a single disc middle above buffer beam but they usually seem to have things written on in black. I've seen 2, 4, 5, 12 and an R. Is a single disc code like this light engine as with lamps (I'm new to SR/BR(S) and details of UK operations generally) What do the letters mean? TIA
  6. I read in a couple of reviews the the buffers are undersize on the Dapol OO gauge model. Since I'm probably going to use dinghams sprung buffers are not recommended I thought I might replace them but can't find the protype size. Anyone know what the size was? TIA

  9. These still avaliable? Yes please if they are. I'm Haywards heath so could collect, possibly over Easter weekend.
  10. Many thanks Ray. Super detailed answer. Fortunately I hadn't press pay on my modelu crew order so I can make sure they are the right way round. And I'm not far from KESR and we have a bank holiday weekend coming up...
  11. Any recommendations for sources of 4mm/OO dock side accessories, e.g. bollards, lifebelts etc... Also ships fittings such as again bollards, fender protectors etc..
  12. What side was drive and fireman in the SR USA S100 USA Tank locomotives. I know most UK locos are left hand drive (except GWR), but most US are left hand drive. I also know they modified them when bought by SR, but I cant imagine them rebuilding all the cab layout, however they where also built for use here and the continent. So in summary. S100 USA tank, driver left or right hand side? Thanks
  13. Tell us more about these crossing inserts. What where they supposed to do?
  14. The banta kit I had the straps where self adhesive label you painted black, with white metal castings, although Grandt line do a set in plastic (available from 7mm NGA)
  15. Happy Christmas Chas. Thanks for so much inspirational modelling here and on Dock Green. Hope Santa brings many new toys for you to entertain us with in the new year. Leigh
  16. Looking for one of these for my old man for Xmas and drawing a major blank. Anyone got one in good condition or know of a retailer with one in stock? Cheers
  17. Thanks for the feedback. Its on my list of things dad should buy me for Christmas that he will use as much as I do, so as long as I have been good this year I can see how it works in th

  19. I find the tamiya tape excellent, burnished down with a cocktail stick, and then some maskol or equivalent to ensure gaps where tape meets are fully sealed. The other tip with masking, (if I am not teaching my grandmother to suck eggs!) is when spraying spray at 90 degress to the tape or over the tape on to the models, not towards the tape, if that makes sense) to avoid any creep under or build up along the tape. Look forward to seeing it a new colour, the red is not to my taste either. Leigh
  20. Hi, I am looking to get a table saw for Xmas. Currently I am looking at the Proxxon Bench circular saw KS 230. Has anyone used one of these and any feedback. My intention is to use it primarily to cut wood into suitable strip woods sizes for board on board construction so anything from as small as 1/16" to no more than around 1/2" dimensions. Will this do the job, and if not what would your recommendation be? Budget is an issue and the primary reason I am looking at the KS230 rather than FET table saw. Thanks Leigh

  22. Well now you are just showing off with clever ideas!!!! Thanks. Leigh
  23. Whats is the purpose of the two short rods on the centre of the pick up/keeper plate. Am I right in thinking the long wire is wipers to back of wheels, then power to circuit pobs via the wipers at the end? Just cant work out how those central two fit in! Leigh
  24. Apologies to jump back to an old topic. Has anyone used the caseys stuff in white metal? If not any suggestions? I have the carrs stuff and not been impressed so got some caseys and works great on brass but also have some white metal castings that would benefit rather than a coat of paint. Thanks Leigh
  25. Nothing clever, but a real artistic streak to get the look right. You underestimate your talent Chas.
