  1. I assume you already have the book from the 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers Association although I'm not sure if this actually has the drawing you need. http://www.16mm.org.uk/publications/modellers-guide-to-the-festiniog-railway/ The 7mm Narrow Gauge Association also has a similar book of drawings as shown here https://7mmnga.org.uk/sales/publication_details.php?ref=NLE08 .
  2. You haven't mentioned if it is operated just by a switch or by a movement detector. When restoring power to one that comes on automatically, it will light for a few minutes to reset the sensor and then go off until it is dark and movement is detected. Perhaps it is the sensor that is at fault and not the bulb. Regarding replacement, I 'm sure the last one I bought (some time ago) had a length of cable already fitted so I just drilled through the garage wall and terminated it inside. .
  3. The 7mm Narrow Gauge Association seem to have what you want in one of their (several) books of drawings. I don't know if they have the level of detail you need but must be better than nothing !! See here http://7mmnga.org.uk/sales/publication_details.php?ref=NLE10 .
  4. Now all the research has been done and the CAD completed, how about upscaling this to 7mm . . . . . . . the already announced A3 and A4 are bit big for a small (in my dreams!) layout ! .
  5. ABS Models are available to order via M & M Models as mentioned on their website here. The ABS catalogue is also available to download. http://www.modelrailwaywagons.co.uk/ .
  6. You have 'Reasonable Cause' to find the current Registered Keeper. Details here https://www.gov.uk/request-information-from-dvla Form to complete here https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/498401/V888X2_050116.pdf Mike .
  7. Depends which part of Modelex you are talking about. Pat Ryan is still in business and one of our club members spoke to him earlier in the week about repair or replacement of one of his controllers that has given good service for many years on our 'Duffield' layout (as seen in the latest BRM) but is no longer putting out 12 volts . . . . . http://www.modelexmodelrailways.co.uk/ However if you want the Churchward range that was previously with Modelex, this is now with Phoenix Precision https://www.phoenix-paints.co.uk/products/churchward .
  8. I had forgotten about the chair - but when I went to find a picture, it was Christine Keeler in the famous photo taken in 1963 . . . . . . . Sorry to Steve for going off topic - but it does get The Little Loco Co back to the top of the page again ! .
  9. The misquoted words of Mandy Rice Davies come to mind . . . . . . . . . . . . . . and I agree with what you say ! .
  10. Correct Copied below from the press release highlighted a couple of pages back On 7 April 2017, a requisition for a general meeting was received by Hornby from representatives of NPIL. The requisition stated that the purpose was to propose changes to the board of Hornby and, consequently, make changes to the business strategy of Hornby. On 25 April 2017, PAMP (for itself and on behalf of the other members of the Phoenix Concert Party) entered into an irrevocable agreement, together with Ruffer LLP and Downing LLP in respect of 53.96 per cent. of the outstanding voting share capital of Hornby, to vote against the resolution proposed by NPIL in the requisition. On 8 May 2017, Hornby received a letter from the representatives of NPIL withdrawing NPIL's request to proceed with convening the requisitioned general meeting of Hornby. On 16 May 2017 the requisitioned general meeting of Hornby was adjourned indefinitely. After engaging with representatives of NPIL, Phoenix UK Fund has agreed to enter into the Acquisition to acquire all of the Hornby shares owned by NPIL. Prior to the Acquisition, the Phoenix Concert Party were interested in Hornby Shares which, in aggregate, carried not less than 30 per cent. of the voting rights of Hornby, but not more than 50 per cent. of such voting rights. As a result of the Acquisition, the percentage of Hornby Shares carrying voting rights in which the Phoenix Concert Party is interested has increased to more than 50 per cent. of the voting rights of Hornby.
  11. The short answer is NO The slightly longer answer is that we don't know what it will be yet. Our loco adviser has come up with a number of options and some of these may have been mentioned in the previous 'wish list' topic - but then again there are some ideas that haven't been discussed before. The two problems are cost and delivery time - as soon as we book a loco with Bachmann we need to put down a 15% deposit and we would rather get some cash in from the first loco before starting to pay out for the second, especially as we have to pay the full balance when the ship docks and with delivery time, payment, packaging etc it will perhaps be a month before we get the cash back and can start all over again. Then it all depends on what Bachmann are going to produce so that we can take our 500 from one of next year's production runs. As before, RMweb will be the first to know . . . . . . . . Mike .
  12. Thanks for the hint - I think you'll find that Metcalfe do a card kit for the brick chimney in your photo - and as for that cough - you really should see a doctor, and whilst you are there you can mention your obsession for model railway locomotives !! Mike .
  13. Agreed. Many years ago after starting the Derby Show, our Exhibition Manager was named in the local paper in one of their usual 'Steam buffs chuffed again' type reports after the show. A few weeks later he got a letter from the local office of Inland Revenue asking how much he got paid for organising the show and why it hadn't been declared as income. After a few choice words in reply, they realised it was all done voluntary and no payments were made to individuals except for legitimate expenses. Problem was that the Revenue then contacted me for copies of the balance sheet and we had to pay tax on the interest we got from the bank - this was in the days when bank interest made a reasonable return. This went on for about 10 years until they eventually said we could stop sending a tax return as the amounts collected were insignificant. Mike .
  14. Many thanks to Steve and Andy for putting Duffield on the front cover. As well as the layout article, I understand that the layout is also featured on the DVD along with interviews about the layout and the Limited Edition 37114 loco we have commissioned from Bachmann to provide funds towards the replacement of our clubrooms. Looks like I need to buy a copy this month . . . . . . . .
  15. Sorry but you won't find us commissioning any locos from Heljan (or Hornby, DJ, Dapol or anyone else). There are connections between our Club and Bachmann but even so it took some time to get this agreement in place and we are extremely grateful to those at Barwell for making this happen. Mike .
  16. At this point it seems appropriate to remind you that Alex is offering a sound fitting service . . . . . . . . .
  17. Now 11.00pm - so just one hour to Saturday 10th June . . . . . . and that's when we're all off to Burton . . . . .
  18. Hope the rain stops soon otherwise I'll have a job climbing the lamp-posts to hang up the road signs . . . . . . If I get washed away, then follow the signs for the Station - please note that the Town Hall is not in the Town Centre - it's the wrong side of the tracks !! As last year for parking - the Town Hall car park has been built on by the School/College next door but there is a lot of road-side parking nearby. Just look carefully at the restriction signs as some areas are OK to use on Saturday and others not. Also 2 car parks available at the Travel Lodge and Station - take care to use the right pay machine as they have different rates - look out for the coloured line markings. Mike .
  19. Although I have not seen it yet, a subscriber tells me the loco gets a mention and photo in the latest Railway Modeller - that's on top of mentions in Rail Express and Model Rail. As mentioned previously in the discussions about the shade of yellow, Andy Y came to our club rooms a few weeks ago and the hand painted mock up will feature in the next issue of BRM along with a film on the DVD. With all this additional publicity, anyone still unsure should make their mind up soon or miss out as we are about two thirds reserved already. Order form on the Club website. Thanks Mike .
  20. Back in 2001, I took a phone call from one of our partners in Israel who asked me how we were coping with the smoke? I was confused and didn't understand what she meant so she then said that all their TV news programmes had shown the burning of cattle in the Foot and Mouth outbreak and had gained the impression that every farmer was burning their livestock in every field and so the whole country was covered in smoke. She found it hard to believe that we were all OK, there was no smoke and the nearest outbreak was miles away. The power of Television . . . . ! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-12483017 .
  21. Have you looked at "Grace's Guide" - they don't have the Locomotive Magazine but does have The Engineer Magazine archive where you may find the information you need. http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/London,_Chatham_and_Dover_Railway .
  22. More information in previous topic here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/123202-oxford-2017-lets-build-new-announcement/ .
  23. Get on your bike - yesterday my son (and about 70 others) cycled from Derby to Skegness to raise money for the Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre, a charity that has been providing holidays in Skegness for over 125 years to disadvantaged children. His cycling sat nav said he had done 101 miles in under 6 hours . . . . . . . . . . so if you set off early enough you'll make it in time for Burton ! ! .
  24. The rear car park is now much smaller than previous due to the building of the school/college next door. You can also use the pay and display at the Travelodge / station car park off Derby Street in the one way area. Last time I was there the two car parks had different charges depending on where you parked so make sure you go to the correct pay machine. For our Narrow Gauge event the week after, most visitors were able to park on the roadside as many parking restrictions only apply Monday to Friday - but check the signs first !! .
  25. Sorry to hear that - the 7mm Narrow Gauge Assn moved their show from May for that reason as our show was the week after the local elections and for two years running we lost the use of one of the rooms at Burton as it was being used to store the ballot boxes and the ballot forms in case they needed to be recounted. Not only that, the second year they put the boxes on tables that were the ones we were supposed to be using. At that time DEMU was at Bretby and so I think we may have been given your usual weekend when we changed dates and so our show is 10th June. We have been assured that we won't face any disruption and so I'm a bit bothered by what you have been told - looks like a phone call to Burton in the morning. .
