  1. Grabbed the micro layout out of the loft this evening and gave victory a little test and I must say I am super impressed with this model 👏

Runs super smooth straight out of the box, can negotiate the tight corners of the yard no problem and the colour of the locomotive fits in with my black and white themed layout perfectly!

Top job PI, looking forward to the next model!

    PI-001-B Lined grey, IW&D 12

Although perhaps the least practical livery for prototypical use on a light railway, the IW&D lined grey is my personal favourite as the intricacy of the lining really makes the model look special. We're particularly pleased with how the lining is even applied on the frames and wheels for those additional detail touches.

Some photo evidence shows the East Kent Railway's Victory with extremely dirty and faded IW&D lining and lettering, prior to it's repaint to green, so this is also an option if you want to really go for it with the weathering.

Available NOW for £130 from Light Railway Stores and Rails of Sheffield.

Superb! Can’t wait for mine to arrive!

The pin itself is non-ferrous, so this imaginary situation that you describe is an impossibility. It is definitely a batch problem. It is the end link that the pin fits through that is ferrous. In a "real life" situation on a layout the couplings do defy gravity. If two wagons are pulled apart the tension in the links releases and the magnets fling back and are attracted to the link around the pin. These are the SCC batch.

This does not happen on the NCB ones, that arrived the other day. The couplings on those do work as intended as there is no ferrous material in the coupling chain.

Ah ok, must just be me who’s got lucky with my 3 packs then!
As you were, I’ll get back in my box 🤐

@Accurascale FranI have, today, received my pack of NCB (Ex-Stella) chaldrons and on this set the couplings do hang down and work as intended. As there is clearly a manufacturing fault with certain batches, will you be replacing the faulty couplings for those of us who have them?

I can’t see that they would make some couplings out of non ferrous and some of of ferrous metal so I don’t believe it’s a batch problem at all.

I personally think that when the model is being thrown around in a parcel by a courier the chain can be thrown around so that it could magnetise to the pin holding it on, in a real life situation on a layout the coupling is never going to defy gravity and stick upwards / backwards onto the wagon.

I think it was an observation by a customer when they opened the box but isn’t a problem with the models at all.

    Cheers,

    Adam

  5. My first pack arrived today (2 more in the post), I went for the NCB triple pack.

I had read that these wagons were small but I don’t think I quite appreciated how tiny they were!
I’m super impressed by them though, the packaging is superb complete with Accurascale’s excellent prototype information and detailed assembly drawings.

I’ve included some photos I’ve just taken of my set and I hope these show how good they really are.

The couplings are a great innovation and despite what I’d read they do work really well, yes when I took them out the box the magnet was attracted to the top of the coupling but once this had been separated it doesn’t magnetise back to the pin during normal use/running, they work just as shown in the Accurascale video.

These wagons are a must for anybody with a micro layout!

Well done Accurascale for pushing the boat out with 00 models again, we’d of never have seen anything like this from the ‘big’ manufacturers.

Hope you all find the pictures useful :)

    Cheers,

    Adam

P.S. The coin in a 10p piece for size comparison.

Excellent video and an impressive model! Genuinely tempted by this, would need to build an O gauge layout though 🤔😁

Seriously? Hornby aren’t going to spend £100,000’s on tooling etc and then just decide not to release them. We have no idea what could have happened. The factory could have shut down, had a major fire, be struggling with covid still. Could be anything.

    Yeah I obviously wasn’t being completely serious…

Of course they’re going to release them at some point, just saying it’s odd it’s taking nearly 3 years to bring them from pre-production samples to a production run!

I’m honestly beginning to wonder if we’ll ever see them!
The decorated samples were shown maybe 18 months ago now?
Surely the demand for these must be quite high, I recon another manufacturer could start these and still beat Hornby at this rate!

Hornby posted photos of the pre-production samples in the October 2020 issue of the engine shed.
    That’s some serious delay!

Having a mooch on the Hornby website to see if the engine shed blog for August had been released (probably a bit early) and thought I would check on the 2MT delivery.

It would appear the later batch (78054 and 78006) have changed to delivery Spring 2023 from Autumn 2023

Only in the world of Hornby can a second batch apparently be delivered before the first!

  10. Absolute winners in my book would be:

    Steam:

    1. LMS 8F

-Plenty of livery variations (LMS, WD, BR &NE)

There may even be a market for the Turkish modified ones.

    2. L&Y A class.

-Ran around right until late BR, pretty little locomotive that I know a lot of people are hoping for (although I could see Bachmann having a tackle at this one with the success of the ROS Mc Intosh 0-6-0, let’s hope Accurascale have a go first )

    Diesel:

    Class 43 HST

    - The amount of liveries and operators would keep the releases going for years and even Hornby “all new singing and dancing” version is a massive let down.

    Industrial:

Something like “Malleable no:5” at Beamish would be good, just to haul my Chaldron wagons 😁

    Cheers,

    Adam

    Any pictures yet?

    Regards Neil

Rails of Sheffield have just uploaded photos, they look nice, not sure they’re up to Accurascales standards though, they look a little ‘toy like’ but I could be wrong.
