  1. Morning buddy, it’s Bachmann’s big brother, as I was about to replace the written off D326 a 7mm version became available at a price not much dearer than its little brothers/sisters so I couldn’t refuse. I’ve still got quite a bit of 7mm track building bits and bobs and I’ve got a plan, I’ve also got the boards and a lot of the sleepers are down to be honest 🙄 I’m still carrying on with my 4mm project but I just needed something different as mojo had been lost after last months events. Also I’ve not started a thread etc as that would prob take me into double figured for unfinished projects but here’s a teaser 😉 Paul
  2. Thanks very much, I’m using my tried and trusted method of powders brushed on to wet paint but I’ve tried somthing new for the oil spills etc. Paul
  3. I’ve been weathering today first the first time in quite some time, I’ll be posting the progress on my good old weathering thread Paul
  4. I’m finally back weathering, first layers of grime on a cl40’s bogie sides Paul
  5. Oh I know it will it’s just hard at first, although the layout is intact, as I was leaving the other day D326 and a split box Peak hurtled down the stairs towards me, no idea were they are now all I’ve seen whilst seeing my daughter is a set of bogies and frost grills, no trace of bodies and there’s a sorry looking 20 to 😡 Paul
  6. Thanks everyone, no idea what the future will bring at the moment but I love my modelling and I will finish this. Paul
  7. Thanks very much there might be a bit of a delay with progress though as swmbo didn’t take to kindly to not being obeyed, as things stand myself and ELJ need to relocate 😕
  8. Afternoon Folks I do use the jig but then I tend to tweak what I’ve done and wing most vee’s, but I have made vee’s in the past without the jig. It’s the same for the point blades I tevd to just file them down on a piece of old wood. Also thanks for the info Martin. Paul
  9. First four 60’ track sections fixed into position I’ve also been looking at yard lamps then remembered I had these from my O gauge ventures, so I’ll remove the 7mm detail I added and rescale it all to 4mm Paul
  10. More chairs threaded today rail heads cut at 60’ sections and cosmetic fishplates added, hopefully I can get these two sections of rail fixed into position soon. Paul
  11. First metre of rail has had chairs threaded today so if I can get all those done over the few days than it’s shouldn’t take long to get most of the track down. Paul
  12. Frames made today, it’s been years since I made frames! But now these are done I can crack on properly, also started threading chairs the other night. Paul
  13. Only an hour but feels like the most productive day in long time, Templot glued into position and a few more sleepers glued down. D326 in the headshunt where the two AL5’s are will be another siding, this will be rusting over and overgrown towards the end of it but it will have OLE I know I should be concentrating on the junction board at the moment but this section will allow my to have a little play as it’s all self contained, the main reason behind this decision being I’ve a few Accurascale on order and I want to play with them 😂 Paul
  14. Well after what seems like weeks I’ve finally got a few days off, so grabbed some time before and started gluing sleepers down. This will be part of the board that leads to the junction. But it can also be used as a stand alone mini layout so to speak, this has been the idea since the start as it will give me a chance to show off the fleet and have a little shunt around measuring only 6’x1’. This section of Edge Lane Junction will me know as Edge Lane Holding sidings with two lines stabling locos, a head shunt and possibly a third siding (not yet on the Templot) which will be overgrown and rusty as it approaches the buffers and the scenic break will be Edge Lane Drive road bridge which is to the far left of the photo below. Sleepers starting to go down on the headshunt, I’ve not glued second siding down on the Templot yet though view looking from Edge Lane Drive view looking from Edge lane Junction towards Edge Lane Drive Paul
  15. Just caught up I hadn’t realised it was 3mm either, very interesting. Paul
  16. With the track plans set in stone for the original two boards for quite some time, I’ve always been thinking of what to do for the approach to Edge Lane if I ever wished to extend it. This is something I’ve thought about since I originally started building ELJ in OO gauge all those years ago and today I finally decided on that track plan. Not being one for compromise or compression and wanting my modelling to be as prototypical as possible (probably why none of my depot layouts have ever been completed) I think what I have planned will work quite well, and although the up and down lines won’t change from the original I have added a little to it to add a bit of play value which will also be useful for taking photos of locos etc. All a long way off but I pleasing moment fi myself nevertheless ☺️ Paul
  17. Having been told the modelling room is not really a modelling room it’s the spare room and it’s a sh!*hole by the mrs/boss I thought it was time to have a tidy and I must admit I quite enjoyed sorting all the chairs out into a storage box I also took the opportunity of some ‘tidying time’ to see how the bridge looks in position with D326 passing. Paul
  18. I know I’ve asked this early on in the thread but don’t think I had any reply, are these 66’s EM and P4 friendly? Paul
  19. Cheers mate but don’t be to critical of yourself this is some seriously good modelling, love the photo with the 20’s keep the pics coming!! Thanks again Paul
  20. Are you rebuilding everything with handbuilt track or are changing gauge 🤭 You do know that once you start building your own you’ll become hooked and won’t look back 😉 Paul
  21. As much as I love the hot weather it’s been to hot to get motivated to do anything on the track work but I did do a bit on the bridge. I’ve started weathering the road and pavements and I’ve also loosely added the streetlights just to see how they will look. Paul
  22. The other day I attached the brickwork to the rise surface but apart from that I’ve don’t done anything else apart from taking some photos of the obligatory bus plonked on the bridge, Mr Bullock will be impressed 😏😌 Paul
  23. That’s what I was thinking, it would be interesting to she what they could be used on. Heljan are pretty easy to re-gauge but Bachmann need a bit of alteration to the bogies normally especially the 20’s and 47’s etc 40’s seem ok though. Paul
  24. Nice little goodie bag there mate 😉 Paul
