I don't mind a few strange locomotives but will there be any elephants in the fields at Wigan?
There will always be Elephants, I cant seem to escape from them
-
Double heading wartime black Jubilees, very nice! But two Austin 7s? That's just greedy! (I like them too, but only have one)
Sorry to hear about your Stanier Mogul, I hope the damage is not too bad. I lost a Bachmann 4F (MR livery) to a gravity based accident once, that didn't bounce either.
Did I spot some eastern interlopers in the background of the last pic? That sliver of unmistakable apple green....
Easter interlopers, me NEVER
The damage is not too bad, the frustrating thing is when I was test running the Loco, it managed to lose the tender drawbar and fixing screw somewhere on the layout.....spooky
-
I'm sure the show will go great, but if you do feel the need to hide make sure to keep some essentials under the layout....food, drinks, books, a portable TV, mini-fridge, armchair, footstool, etc.
Top idea, I never thought of that, fancy being my Exhibition co-ordinator for me?
-
I think you right bout the lamps, I have some black ones in stock and on a few loco's but they are very hard to spot.I agree with Mole, the lining is amazing. I keep forgetting that these models are N-gauge. If you want to do a little weathering, those lamps look unnaturally clean
I hope the show goes well - my original home town but too far away, now
I think if the show starts to go a little wrong I can always hide under the layout, I tried it in York and it seemed to work
-
Hey if I can do it anyone can, thanks for the kind comments though, even if it made me blushYou really need to stop being so hard on yourself about the lining, I've said it before but I find it very impressive! I would not be brave enough to attempt it in OO let alone N.
Lots of lovely LMS locos, always my cup of tea. The MR Flatiron only ever looks right in crimson, it really shows off it's unique design. The 1F half cab is adorable, and I have always preferred them to a Jinty.
I wish I could get along to the Wigan show but it is a bit far for me sadly.
-
G1s look nice in unlined black wit a smidgeon of weathering
With my ham fisted approach, do you think I will ever achieve a smidgeon of weathering
-
Probably best to concentrate on things for the exhibition, even if you are itching to build it.
One day I will get around to finishing the Flatiron kit I have....one day.
Very sensible advice, but you know me....... what do you mean you may have to get round to finishing the kit, YOU MEAN AS A MODELLER YOU HAVE UNFINISHED PROJECTS... Shame on you, at this rate you will end up as bad as me.
-
A roundtop G1/2 kit, very nice. It would look lovely in LMS livery, but the pre-grouping nut in me is screaming "PAINT IT IN LINED LNWR LIVERY!!! NOW!!!!!!"
Whichever livery I'm sure it will look great when built.
I'm finding it very hard not to crack on with the kit, but I have loads to do to get ready for the Wigan exhibition. I like the idea of it in LNWR lined black, but I think LMS unlined black may be the winner
I really need to give my flat iron a bit of attention, the trailing bogie is winding me up/
-
I was given a kit for a round firebox G1/2 by our club chairman a couple of weeks ago, which could be painted in LMS plain black, like a really useful loco. BUT how many do you see in LNWR lined condition......I REALLY THINK I MIGHT BE GOING MAD
-
Mad me, as if, eccentric maybe.Non-LMS types? Are you mad sir??
Seriously though I am still very impressed by the lining done on these locos. I wish you would stop though as it is making me REALLY want to do a post-war LMS layout!
Thanks for the comment on the lining if I can do it anyone can, I think I need to lower the Mogul on her chassis a bit.
As for a post-war layout I think you should have a go, join my madness, there are not a lot of us around.
-
Looking good, certainly taking a model to the next level
-
Yes they are two little Jack Russell girls. Those two look like beautiful little bundles of trouble, what bread are they, are they Jack Russells?
The lining is looking really good, apart from the little give away's you would think these are 4mm models, I cant believe you can produce this standard by hand, even if you claim they shake. The Mogul looks stunning, I think there will be a lot of people wanting to ad one to their collections now?
I know you have said you would not consider commissions but I think there would be lots of us out there who like me think you should consider it.
The mogul is certainly turning into a epic project, as for commissions thanks for the comments but trust me there are far better modellers than me out there.
-
They are certainly a lively pair, when they are not sleeping that is, the nearly sleep as much as the Domestic Overlord, not that I am complaining I like the peace (only joking).I think I could easily add some more terriers to my collection if they were as cute as those ones!
Really nice job on the lining, very impressed. I have always loved the post-war LMS black livery (I have a Jub, Scot and Duchess in it).
As for what to name your Jubilee, tough choice. There are so many great names the class carried.
Its one of my favourite liveries too, so far I have 2 Semi Duchesses in it, 2 Jubes, 2 Rebuilt Scots and a Parallel Scot in the livery, I think that is more than enough.
-
The layout will be at the Wigan show at the end of the month - Time to PANIC
-
I'm just in the process of finishing off a Jube in 1946 black livery, which to my eyes suits the loco's well.
I just have to figure out what name and number to apply to her when she is finished
-
MORE MORE MORE MORE, they look great even if they are not Crimson. I always find any excuse to run them on my layout on nearly any type of duty, "very useful" locomotives indeed
I even have one working through the paint shops in 1946 black
-
No she should be finished in lined black, if I can manage not to make a total mess of it.
-
looking good, I cant wait to see the locomotives progressing
-
Thank you, but we will see
-
very impressive
-
Nothing so advanced I'm afraid I just use dry-brushing
-
I don't think "build" is the right word, they sort of fall together
-
Are you saying I have too much?
-
Nice job. I found the big problem with batch weathering is that they al end up looking the same. Better to do a basic job and then do them individually to ensure that they are not the same. I always leave a couple pretty clean and then progress down to absolutely filthy. Variety is much more realistic. David
David thanks for the tip, I will see how they turn out and may even post some more pictures, now is that a threat or what???
