  1. A brilliant entry on locomotives that could certainly do with improvements, I think its brilliant how you are doing such simple modifications but producing some brilliant results. Are you working on the bogie wheels next?

From a personal point of view it would be good to see how the lined black compound progresses, as my Father had a Basset Lowke one in that livery and it looked rather smart

    Keep the posts coming.

Im beginning to regret the livery, with a shaky hand the lining is a bit of a nightmare

  2. I found your blog by accident, and I'm just catching up on your entries now. I'm not an N gauge modeller or an LMS fan but your blogs are turning into vital reading for me, you really are a talented modeller.

The LNER teaks look great, some of the weathering is very subtle, I remember teaks, in BR days being in a terrible state, so maybe you should apply more "grot". The only complaint I have so far is that you need to do more of a step by step entry so modellers like me can learn your secrets.

Just out of interest I have an 0 gauge rake you can weather, purely so that other modellers can learn how to do it?

You really don't want to let me lose on a 7mm model, I do not think my skills are up to the required level

  3. Hi Paul,

Good to see you managed to sneak in a bit of modelling time - and how prudent of you to go straight for the lesser priorities!  :) Nice to see some compounds, also among my favourite LMS locos. I wonder if our modelling as adults is really just a revenge on the frustrations of our childhood. Hmm, better leave that alone.  :)

All I know is I was a very good boy for years and what did it get me for all those Christmas's NOTHING NOT EVEN A LUMP OF COAL.........The Big fella stitched me up

  4. Well Phillis its good to see you have been a good little girlie, as Mrs Phil appears to have let you play out in the Garden, you cant have been that good however as you don't seem to have done much, either that or you are a very slow modeller :).

The dust on the loco has certainly added to the realistic look, perhaps you should maybe consider a spot of weathering, and guess what? I HAV BEEN GIVEN MY SOLDERING IRON BACK, because I have been a good boy too :)

  5. Have to agree with trainfan4472 about your conversion production rate. (  and you're talking about another layout ).

Sounds like there's more conversions on the horizon!!

Will it be followed by blue ones after the green?

    Cheers,

    Jim.

    Jim,

Blue? Blue I did not think the LMS had any blue engines apart from the streamlined coronations.......argh I get it now, you were hinting and making a steamliner?

  6. Good to see a LNER prototype working its way through your workshops, you have a rate of production that would rival the Big Four

I wish I had a production level like that, or should that be a completion rate, as sometimes it feels like I never actually complete projects.

I have exhibition deadlines looming, and plans to start another layout, and various motive power/rolling stock projects to complete, sometimes I think I should have taken up an easier hobby

  7. Would you consider taking commissions?

I'm sure I am not the only one thinking this but your Locomotives and weathered stock are fantastic, I'm sure I can be the only one who thinks this?

I'm sorry I hardly have time to build models for myself, which is rather annoying at times, I would hate to have other people in this situation if they were waiting for me to complete models.

    Sorry
