  1. Thanks Guys. I'm leaning towards N Woodland Scenics Fine Grey for the main running lines and maybe a mix with OO for roughly laid sidings. Matt
  2. The main portion is Lynton & Barnstaple inspired. Matt
  3. As the title suggest, what size ballast are people using for oo9 layouts? As I don't have a model shop close to me anymore its difficult to judge from online product photos. Also is it better to weather the rails before or after ballasting? Thanks Matt
  4. Interesting to see that Ferrari haven't fallen apart so far in the second part of the season which has been the case in the past few years. But I can't help but wonder that had they not given Vettel preference over Leclerc in the early part of the season they may well have been closer to the Merc's now.
  5. Well at least we haven't got X Factor every Saturday from late August to Christmas this year!!! You know its a long trudge into Autumn and Christmas when that rubbish starts again!
  6. We regularly do Didcot to Upton on the old Didcot, Newbury & Southampton. Its just round the corner from us and you are into the Hagbournes in a blink of an eye. Fortunately a plan to build houses along one side between Didcot and East Hagbourne has been stopped, so it remains a green boundary between Didcot and the villages. It rises from ground level up to above house height very quickly, so must have been a bit of a slog for a heavily loaded train. Its one section of the line that doesn't seem to have been photographed much either.

  8. Funnily enough my 5" Manor has a similar effect on its rods. I put it down to the previous owner spraying it with WD40. I had a traction engine that was also constantly sprayed with WD40 and it created a brown gung on the bright steel work. I cleaned it with meths and it was still bright underneath. Just wiped it with an oily rag from then on. I think the early greases would be tallow based. I believe steam oil had some in it and that also gives a brown gung over time. That and brake dust sticking to the oil and oxidising would possibley give the colours in the photos. Matt

    Little Muddle

I seem to remember seeing a picture of a steam roller on such a wagon. But it must have had a rough shunt as it had gone forward and snapped the front forks off. They are a bit fragile on the front end! Matt
