  1. Mine arrived today and its rather splendid. I gave my chocolate to my youngest son who was equally impressed.

She is a little sweetheart and has been on my lap all evening. She adopted us as a kitten Christmas 2015. Her owner was away alot and left food in the garage for her. I opened the back door one cold evening and she was sat on the doorstep rather cold and hungry. 10 minutes later she was curled up with the other 5 in front of the fire. Her owner had her "done" and asked us to look after her. When we moved in 2016 he let us take her as she had moved in permanently. Out of all the cats we've had over the years she and Max are the only ones to be solely my lap cats. Both constant companions a few years ago when I was off sick for 6 months. My wife has always had the lap cats previously.

Called our tabby Pepper as it seemed to be her colour.

Bruised and battered, like my wallet, Max is back home minus all but two teeth. He is camping in my eldest's room where he can have a soft diet unmolested by the rest of the cats.

I must admit Max is a lot easier to give medication too than our youngest Son used to be. First we had to catch him and then it took two of us to give him the injection followed by vomiting as he was so worked up. Even as a young teenager he would be sick. Fortunately he's been of the medication for about 2 years and as he is 16 next month its onto the adolescent clinic. Then it will be down to him.

Try getting drops into their eyes! Max has cottoned on that when we have two small bottles in our hands that they are meant for him. Poor chap is in the vets at the moment for tooth extractions, X Ray's and blood tests. Hopefully he will feel better. I doubt we will given the estimated bill.
  7. Lucky no one was hurt. There was a mention in the Sky commentary about expanding foam and resin, which I find hard to believe. My eldest also said the fan bridge had buckled hence no fans in the stands.
  8. It's going to clog faster than wood. It's so fine it will literally stick in between the grit. Get what fits your sander and double the amount you think you will need.
  9. Looking forward to that one. Ross Brawn was a Harwell apprentice about a decade before I was. He joined Williams in the early days as a turner I think.
  10. I would agree. Having had to sand my own go at plastering, you could hang your coat on it, it will make one hell of a mess. A normal vacuum connected to the sander won't last long. It clogs everything. Best of luck.
  11. Weren't the K-37's converted from standard gauge?
  12. Wills sheets trimmed to just over size and glued on the outer faces. The off cuts were perfect for the road side faces. Filed to size. Added the brick arch underneath and brick keystones. Next job is to blend the vertical joints.
  13. This weekend consisted of trimming Wills sheets on the little milling machine. Once set up it literally is just cranking them out. They are much easier to match when the edges are square. I also chamfered the corners to get a descent 90 degree joint. Seen above glued to the plasticard supports. Next rectangular supports to true things up and also support the road deck. Gentle warming with a hot air gun to get the profile and the road deck is glued in. The sides of the prototype taper slightly and I did try to replicate it, but the upper profile makes it difficult to do. So flat sided it is. Next job is to temporarily clamps the Wills sheets in place, mark and cut them to suit.
  14. Grandstand roof collapsed in high winds and other routes coming on. Weather really changed quickly.
  15. I watched the first two parts of The Android Invasion over lunch. Filmed a stones throw away in East Hagbourne. There are pictures in the Fleur-de-Lys pub of Tom Baker during filming. They do a decent pint in there.

Yes, they seem to be very busy and just around the corner. I couldn't get an on day appointment and had to ring first thing next day to get him seen. Then had to make another appointment at Cholsey to see the eye specialist. Fortunately she does Mondays in Didcot, so was able to get a third check up first thing.
  17. They must have read my earlier synopsis! Copyright infringement.
  18. We quite like Bad Santa with Billy Bob Thornton. Not for the easily offended though.
  19. More an educated guess I'd say!

Max's eye has improved with the eye drops. But we will have to do it daily from now on. He came close to losing it. The vet thinks the original infection came from a badly decayed tooth. We didn't think he had any left. She showed me yesterday and his gum was bleeding. So he's booked in for an extraction towards the end of November. Would have liked it sooner, but it seems vet's appointments are as rare as GP appointments in these parts. With Halloween tonight and Bonfire night coming up we shall ensure all our cats are in early.
