  1. I emailed Bachmann in November asking about the TPO stowage vans. They said March 2018....
  2. Good morning to all, Just purchased a Bachmann 37507 body and keen to buy nameplates, TE cab side plaques and BR silver arrows. Can anyone recommend the best supplier of these please. I have bought plates previously and on several occasions found that they are smaller than the printed on ones. Many thanks John
  3. Hi Jason, Thank you for information. Best wishes John
  4. Hi Steve, Just seen your reply. I will keep a look out for them. Thank you. BBA project looks like it will be ongoing for a while. Noticed current BBAs running with the number applied hand painted. Best wishes John
  5. Just found Modelmaster sheet 4866 on H & A Model site. It says that this is ex Cambrian CT2. I am not sure if this is water slide or rub down but I imagine that it will be run down as CT2 was. Would prefer water slide. My BAA and BDA are Bachmann so already have decals on. The BBAs are Cambrian which I am working on. Nice kit but I have fitted brass bogie inners from Stanton Models. These give an excellent bogie with the Cambrian side frames glued on. Had to make mounts for Kadee couplings from UPVC channel from a double glazing factory. Bogie mounted this appears to work but I have yet to run one on a layout.
  6. Good morning all, Does anyone know if there is a decal sheet for British Rail era BBA steel carrying wagons in 4mm scale please? I have contacted Modelmaster with no reply. I also bought some old Cambrian decals but these had dried out and would not apply. Any help would be very welcome. Best wishes John
  7. Good morning All, Just watched a mint condition Bachmann 45048 sell for £245 on eBay. High time Bachmann produced a Class 45 in its final guise with flush nose ends. I am sure it would sell judging by the price made every time a 45048 appears. I have emailed Bachmann suggesting this and told that my email was being passed to their development department. Does that mean they will seriously consider it or was it just their stock reply? Best wishes John
  8. Many thanks. I will contact him. Best wishes John
  9. Good morning all, Can anyone tell me which decal sheet in 4mm scale is suitable for Cambrian BBA wagons in 1980s British Rail era bauxite livery. These will be the white lettering.. I have heard that the Modelmaster MM 4866 is the correct one but cannot find it on their site. I cannot find an image of this sheet so don't know if they are the correct decals or how many wagons it will do. Any information on which sheet and where to buy would be greatly appreciated please. Best wishes John
  10. I use Humbrol enamel diluted with ordinary white spirit. A mix of Matt Black and Matt Leather will time down paintwork and show as dirt and grime in nooks and crannies. Any of the wash on unwanted areas can easily be removed with a cotton bud dipped in white spirit. John
  11. Hi, Fareham near Portsmouth. I will look at Phoenix as well. Best wishes John
  12. Hi Andrew, Many thanks for your reply. I will give it a go or I might try Railmatch enamel as they do several shades of bauxite. Only use Humbrol as I can get it locally. I have two BBA kits in the post and due to arrive today. Also ordered the brass bogie inners from Stenson Models. Best wishes John
  13. Good morning all, Can anyone tell me which Humbrol enamel colour I need for BBA wagons please? I am looking at the brown livery prior to the introduction of Railfreight red and black. Many thanks John
  14. Several years ago my Bachmann 37501 arrived with one buffer pointing upwards at an angle. It was the red buffer sleeve which was at fault. I contacted Bachmann who sent me a complete sleeve, buffer and spring. the repair involved removal of the metal parts and cutting off the plastic sleeve with an Exacto saw. The replacement sleeve was glued in place and touched up with paint. Not a complicated fix but annoying that it was required in the first place. Still contemplating The Large Logo Blue 73105... John
  15. BBA and Turbot wagons please. I am aware that Dapol mentioned producing these but nothing has appeared. John
  16. The vast majority of the parts are plastic. Also, small shreds of foil from dog food trays weigh very little. I haven't weighed the wagons but they do end up quite heavy. My Bachmann Class 66 can handle 10 without any problems. Cheers John

    Ask Dave

Good morning Dave, Sorry to hear about the Class 59 as I would have been very keen to buy an original FY and an ARC. On the subject of wagons, is there any possibility of you producing a BBA please? Dapol mentioned this one a while back and cancelled it. Best wishes John
  18. Hi RS4, Many thanks for your kind words. Just moved house two weeks ago so don't have a workbench set up again yet. Still haven't seen a Class 68 as they are not common in the south. Did see 59003 last Saturday though... John
  19. Good afternoon Bob, Many thanks for your kind remarks. It consists of broken pens, drink bottle lids, cotton bud shafts, Bic razor shafts, dog food foil trays, spare bits of wagon kits, wire, broken electrical connectors, fluorecent light starter casings and anything else that I can find. All glued in place, painted and coated with rust coloured weathering powders. Cheers John
  20. I like scrap and make it out of anything and everything that i can find... I now have a rake of 10 MBAs filled with scrap and no two are the same. John
