I will if I can't get the screws.  If I've got the clips, I kinda want to use them

Sorry should have explained myself... Even with the screws, at one end you are putting them into the PCB and never seem to be tight enough, so with a bit of black tac, secures all in place and stops any vibration.

I guess that's what happens when you have to replace the designed traction with something else that happens to fit the space.

At least it was a more reliable unit that went in and the 31s remained useful to BR for many many years unlike other locos.

I think it was a good move back then, to save the class and replace with EE powerunits and as you said, went on many years for BR. Infact it was the 31 that got me into all this, as a 5 year old, stood at the foot of Thetford station footbridge looking up at one of these beasts, pulling away at full thrash on the Norwich-Birmingham New St, was awe inspiring!

I have heard different opinions from Ex BR friends of mine on these machines. One of my mates Chris used to work them as a freight guard (Gt Ryburgh grain and Lenwade Concrete) and recons they were a joy to work with and drive, yet my mate Andy who was a guard Cambridge- London/Kings Lynn hated it when he got a 31 on a Sunday evening last trip home with 9 bogies, because he knew he was going to be late, appx 55 mph tops!

He also said they couldn't manage Bethnal green bank without turning the ETS off! He also said that if it was a Bounds green machine, it would fair slightly better, which makes me think maintainance had something to do with it too?

31s are 100 plus tons  for a type 2 but a 26/ 27 around 70 tons  so the 31 has to lug more around so it is going to be poorer , it is just a statement of the times in which it was planned where steam engine designers were getting to hand with diesels. compare the D600 to D800 for how stressed light weight bodies came to the fore.

Plus lacking a couple of traction motors...

Issues with any extremely large batch like the 37's are completely the norm and to be expected. Unfortunate when a customer is impacted, but our return rate is well below industry norms, and in real terms, a tiny % of the overall volumes shipped. You can read (literally) over 8,000 verified customer reviews on our website (and class 37’s alone we’ve delivered several times that number in volume), confirming just that, and our support team take great pride in looking after any exceptions swiftly.

I dont understand why people dont contact yourselves direct, rather than spewing stuff all over here. Your customer services are second to none. Any issues have been slight and have been dealt with by your customer service and anything else can be corrected with basic modelling knowledge. I have had 3 sound Deltics and 8 37s with sound and one Deltic has a decoder issue which Simon dealt with.

Two shout outs about the EP, as its raw its not cleaned up, but it reveals a tooling line running roof to floor in front of the cab windows suggesting its possible to do early and later series ends…

(Gosh its got a Pinocchio nose light) :-)

but what i’m really drawn to is this bogie….

just look at this work of art..

For a first EP, I think this is off to a good start.

    Those bogies look amazing 👍

The grills on the painted version not the same as the first engineering sample or the works photo. There is a narrow bar at the centre of each of the 4 wide grilles?

Just paid the balance. It will be good to get back to my original modelling era.

    Extra info:

Looking at the Accurascale News update, the stiffening bars are in place. Pehaps the Locomotion photo is a 'mock up' as suggested or the lighting doesn't pick up the detail.

This is the most constructive answer. This pic of 6700 answers my question, suggesting that the Locomotion model was just a mockup. Was funny to hear some of the other responses though 🤣🤣

Yes I am aware of what colours it would be but all manufacturers seem to use a different interpretation of BR blue …. Was just asking which manufacturers was the closest match to Accurascale version of BR blue …… apologies for asking …..

Well it's not Railmatch, it's too dark

My first 37/6, very very happy with it. Looks the business and the detail is insane, from the depth in the bogies to the detail featured on them. The metal kick plates are lovely and the detail pack was much nicer to install than competitors (look a lot better too!). One of tge Accurascale drivers added too, finishes off the cab along side the light up dials. Top model, a very happy indeed!

Yes I can second that. These 37/6 of 602/8/9 are all the same sub class but so many detail differences between the 3. Truly impressive. Well done Accurascale 👍👍

Its got a big hook sticking out at the front or is it pleased to see the other accurascale class 37's??????????????????????

Interesting point - when were those visible additional intermediate stiffening items added?  They don't appear on photos of Vulcan Foundry built early locos but they are definitely present in photos of the first RSH built batch.

Alas it's so long ago that I first saw brand new D6700 that I'm unable to  comment on the cantrail grills  even if I'd bothered to look at them.  So our only guide is going to be contemporaneous photos of new locos in the first Vulcan Foundry batch, not necessarily later photos of the loco.

Locomotions own picture on their website...

This came up previously with the TPE Nova sets.

There are drawbacks to doing that for every gain. If you order for elderly club members, family, friends etc.

a club membership was then suggested.

The guys at accurascales answer was fair:

“The product was avaliable to pre-order for months. If people chose not to do it then, then so be it.”

    Which i entirely get.

and the view of one of the sellers I spoke to about the pricing on eBay was “I have been refreshing the page for hours and waiting - my time spent securing it, is the additional cost”

whether there is any merit in that, who knows.

i appreciate I was lucky on this occasion as I happened to be on the site when the stock dropped. However, i have missed other drops and agree its frustrating - but thats also my own fault for not pre-ordering.

i have always tried to be fair with my orders. When I have done orders for various people in my local club I have done it one at a time - on the basis that if its still in stock when i have finished, then its fair.

this time however, i did it as an order of 3 for the Club (different sound fitted 37s - DRS, ROG and 97) . 10 minutes later there was still a 97 so I was like “ah i’ll treat myself”

so I did that. The irony is the priority order still hasn’t shipped, whilst my personal one did 😂😂.

the £549.99 one on eBay is obscene money though. Chancer or what!

I would echo those remarks. I received 37027 on Friday ,the new end pieces hold the locomotive box very securely in the outer packing ,giving about 1/2 inch gap all around . I had some difficulty extricating locomotive box from outer box because it is so snug, but that is far better than the box rattling around. This is very good for a single locomotive, but how will multiple locomotive orders be sent in future ,presumably not individually?

The new packaging works well (especially with the handling DHL seem to give these models) no movement, totally secure!

It might fit in mine too, but my problem would be much closer to home !

My little one might appreciate it but the other half may drown out the 37 when she see’s it.

Actually, I think I would end up getting divorced. Missus already puts up with the accurascale 402, plus the many others I have out on the kitchen worktop. The size of the boxes havnt helped either 🤣🤣

I'd have to demolish my garage for it to fit in the drive. Also, as I have previously mentioned, I don't think my neighbours would appreciate the sound file on it! Though it would sound awesome!

402 would fit in my garden, but dont think the neighbour's would appreciate it when hitting F1... 😫🤣
