  1. Coming home from the Long Milford model railway show, I saw a bunch of locos that I don't recognise. I have been modelling US outline for nerarly all my life and have only recently moved to BR so I am a bit ignorant. These are all painted up in the Wyoming and Gennessee colours.
  2. Coming back from the Long Milford Model Railway Show, I saw this parked nicely outside the sheds.
  3. With severe arthritis I need a lightweight model railway so that I can easily turn it over to work on the electrics. I have been using foamcore for this for the last 10 years and have had no trouble so long as it is framed adequately. I laminate three layers for the side rails and the cross members - which I pit at 12" gaps. My current 8' x 2' layout can be picked up with one hand and doesn't flex at all. I prefer black foamcore (from Amazon in packs of 4 A1 sheets) for my baseboard. Here is a shot of the current layout plus one from underneath showing the three layers..
  4. I was quite excited when they announced TT:120. I was close to dropping out of US outline but I don't want a railway that can only run fancy express trains and shunt goods wagons. I went to OO and GWR and mostly Bachmann locos and wagons.
  5. I go to Amazon £9.99 for a litre of MEK or a litre of 99.98% IPA. My go to wood glue is Titebond which, in spite of being yellow, sticks canopies fine and dries clear. Just used it for ballasting as well.
  6. I was driving along Ranalegh Road Ipswich the other day past the Freightliner depot. Sitting there was a lovely little 08 in their heritage colours - those of their US owner , the Genessee and Wyoming. I am building a 1950s GWR layout but I was sorely tempted to buy one of these.
  7. There is a new entry to my Gentle Model Railways blog talking about my ballasting and setting up a backscene to my little GWR branch line station. Check out Gentle Model Railways
  8. Funny. However, Postal order poundage is now. See attached screen grab from Post Office web site
  9. I don't know the current levels but Post Office "Poundage" on postal orders made them an expensive way to purchase anything.
  10. Both Chelmsford and Ipswich have a Mildmay Road and I have never known how to pronounce them.
  11. I sold all my US Outline HO and N plus the legacy of my Marklin days all to Rails of Sheffield. Not priced like eBay but very easy to do. They are nice people and efficient. You can, at least, ask them for a price and then decide. Beats selling everything one item at a time. BTW, I am not associated ed with them in any way only a happy customer.
  12. OK so that's two of them sorted. Where does the last one go?
  13. I had a look around and concluded that it was red if we are talking about the C plate. Where does it go? I think that it goes below the number on the cab side.
