  1. Thanks adrian for the advice but i was hoping more for a direct drop in instead of programming as i wanted an easy loco to start on. I know sd40-2s and sd70macs have differant engines (one being a 645 while the other a 710) but would the sd40-2 sound be passable for an sd70mac? Or would the GEVO engine be passable? Sorry for all the questions! Lloyd
  2. Thanks Gary for the advice. Sorry but i completely forgot to mention that the loco is an N scale SD70MAC from kato. Lloyd
  3. Hello all, I hope this is the place to ask a few questions about the MRC-1644 SD70 sound decoder. Firstly, can anyone comment on how good it sounds and also how much modification to the shell you have to do? I've never installed a sound decoder so I'm hoping it wouldn't be much hastle. Thanks in advance, Lloyd
  4. Finally i can say this! Merry Christmas everyone!

  5. Reading Izzak Waltons The Compleat Angler. Very interesting so far.

  6. Reminds me to get back into gear with my micro layout! Thanks Ray. Think i may have to "borrow" that building and use it. All the best Lloyd
  7. This looks really lovely Ray! So atmospheric and urban. What is the building in the 3rd photo? Is it a kit or scratchbuilt? All the best, Lloyd

'It's a Baldwin 2-8-4 S3-class steam locomotive built in 1931 at the Baldwin Locomotive Works. It weighs 456,100 pounds and...'

  9. Those look rather nice. I know a quaint tea room that that looks very Victorian if you'd like me to get the photos of it i took if your interested in building another one for the layout. I must admit i've checked this thread every so often just to see if anything news been done. Victorian locos and such like appeal to me you see... Lloyd

  15. Anyone know the length of N scale FVM coal hoppers?

  16. Thanks guys for the help. I shall wire the frog to the beginning of the point so the blades always have electricity. Talisman, i always felt insulated joiners were a waste of money, i just leave a gap between the rail. Also, from checking,i believe all of my diesels would go over the point frog if its insulated so i may try this but i'm still debating. Lloyd Edit: Forgot to mention a few things.
  17. Thanks guys for the help. I'm using american diesels so their wheelbase is quite long which is why i considered changing them to deadfrogs. Kevin, the points are n gauge code 55 (I always get track codes mixed up!) Lloyd
  18. Thanks guys for the information. I've never really done wiring before (Help from my MRC) so i'll have to weigh up which option will be easier but still reliable Lloyd
  19. Evening all, I'm trying to build my new layout and have to install points. However, they're electrofrog ones. Is their a specific way to wire them or should i cut the wire that makes them electrofrog so they'll be insulfrog? Thanks in advance, Lloyd P.S: they're N scale code 75 points.
  20. Anyone know how to wire electrofrog points on DC?

  22. Looks rather different to your other loco but i think it looks better. Do you have any plans for the loco or did you make it up as you went along? Keep up the goodwork Lloyd
  23. You know the little voice in your head wants a battery loco! you could add boiler fittings but add a battery control on the footplate and and sad looking fireman!
  24. Beamish coal mine model-http://www.fiddlersgreen.net/models/Buildings/coal.html No connection just a satisfie customer whos used that kit in the past on an OO gauge railway. I thought battery locos first appeared in 1910ish? Lloyd
