  1. The morning milk and parcels draws into the station behind a 48xx..
  2. Yes, I have seen that before. Smart and simple! But no staging so every movement needs you to lift off the stock, I image a 4ft fiddle yard would make a huge difference to the operating.
  3. Have we seen the current fiddle yard? Looks like we need some wide angle full layout shots please
  4. I've an 8 year old Nephew, which setup a small amount of track directly on a board for him to play with. However hard I try, all he wants to do is have the trains racing round together. I've adding sidings, platform etc, but there is no interest. I'd get a baseboard down and free form the track a few times and see what works. When I was younger I used to love taking all the track up and starting again, you slowly figure out what works for you.
  5. I've managed to get the chassis all painted and also picked out the drop lights. Even without any of the lining and the half finished roof, it's looking much smarter that the Airfix paint job.
  6. Thanks. I'll put the books on the list! I really enjoyed your view on modeling, thanks for posting that too. I always enjoy your bespoke builds, most are very clever and simple at the same time.
  7. Freight loads is in my library two. How good are the last two? I've been tempted a few times..
  8. Cracking book! That's been my bible too when building wagon. Worth the cost, convinced the wife to buy it for me one Christmas. Mine does look less weathered.
  9. Sorry to hear about the Dean. Mine has a zimo chip and runs fine, so not sure what your issue could be.
  10. Thanks! Does anyone know what colour the seats might have been? I realise you will hardly see them, but I thought I should try and get some colours in there.
  11. Standing in the yard as Castle Down, the Mogul departed on time at 4.23. I then waited around for the goods to come in, I was lucky that it was pulled by the Dean and could catch a few shots as it shunted the trucks in the yard. It then sizzled in the siding for a bit. I was just about to leave when a Pannier arrived, so I could grab this shot from the loading dock..
  12. Grabbed an hour in the shed, so I took the paper off!! We have a coach! Not looking too bad at all.. There is a slight glitch at the back, but I think it will be covered by the lining transfers.. The chassis is now on the bench getting a coat of black. The next job will be to paint up the insides and pick out the windows.
  13. I really like that Pannier! Looks very smart and I bet sounds good now too.
  14. The coach is progressing nicely. It's had a couple of coats of coach brown now, I need to go and check on it later. It's sat drying in the spray booth. Then it's the scary moment where I peel back the tape to see if the masking was done correctly!!! As spraying is rather dull job, I've also been adding some cover and texture around the layout. There is now a small hut for the crew to hang out while shunting and some grass around them Far from finished, but it always looks better as the bare boards get covered.
  15. The shot from the loading bay is exquisite. Looks warm too.
  16. I've got a very cream coach, so it was time to get the masking tape out. I decided I would remove the handrails at the front door as I couldn't get tape around them them. I just hope I can get them back on!
  17. The modelu figures are amazing, I've a few for another job. Again, they are not cheap when you buy a few! But as rough and ready figures to disappear into a coach, these are ideal.
  18. Sure I've a Ratio side somewhere Remains of building a few 009 coaches with the rest of the kit, very versatile.. Really enjoyed the video. Heading up there this summer, been a long time since I've been to Norfolk.
  19. They are not that expensive, just order in enough bulk to justify the postage! Lead time was quite long though, I ordered them ages ago!
  20. I've bough a few plates from Narrow Planet. I didn't like how the 48xx was inset, the one on the Mogul is poor, so I did some shopping. 4827 sits in the sun next to the new Dean Goods. Nice plates and even a crew, she is looking very smart!! On more modelling matters. Tonight project is to give this odd gang a rough painting. They are the dart casting misfits, the imperfect castings. Ideal for passengers in the autocoach. I hate painting people at the best of times, so as these will disappear into the coach, they are not going to my best work... Right.. Beer.. Paint..
  21. Waiting still for the digital one to land.....
  22. Had a new arrival into Castle Down late today. Didn't stop for long, just ran in light to get some water and then headed back out.
  23. Great to see a new video. Hats off to you if you do adjust the sleeper spacing, that's going to take some time and patience. I used the bullhead rail and was very happy with it, it does look much better.
  24. Bob and John are practise their jiving before having to take the next train. These are Phoenix Figures, destined to be never seen again in the cab of my 48xx..
