  1. Thanks Kevin.. Just ordered the glazing with Brian online, so might be early next week. But that's not going to hold me up. Sanity isn't too bad, it's the patience of the instructions that is killing me. Just 0 clarity most of the time. So.. Did you do anything to this door? The Luggage one. If not, then I'm going to fill in the holes for the handrails and get the primer out! Andy, many thanks. Glad to hear you are resting and keeping well.
  2. Found the glazing, thanks. Kevin, did you do anything to the pair of luggage doors? And, looks like you moved the hand rails off the steps, I can't find anything about that?
  3. Did battle again tonight! The once nice thing about the autocoach is how soft the plastic is. It was quite easy to lift the old handrails off. Here is the rear, ready to go. Then with lots of nice new shinny bits. Then the front is also done. Horrid close up! Appear to have a few hand rails left on the fret. That will do for tonight. Nearly ready to get a coat of primer on it. What glazing has anyone used? I sent an email to Shawplan, but not heard anything.
  4. Hi Chris, many thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed your 20mins
  5. Brilliant! Looking very smart, I must say I like the lighting. I keep looking at the GWR ones and thinking my platform would look quite smart with them on. Dare I ask, since the move any space to extend the layout, or are you going to resist doing that?
  6. Glad it went well, well done on 3rd! The simplex looks really smart, looking forward to seeing some more pictures.
  7. Oh, that's nice.. Thanks the front end one is really handy, I can make out some of the pile of bits in the box there. I think I've got 90% of the underframe done now. I'm going to stop here as I want to replace the front buffers before I finish all the pipes on the front end. The plan is then to start on the body next Saturday, as I've another few hours in the evening to do this. Thanks to Kevin and his under frame picture, I basically used that to copy to build mine. The instructions are not clear in places. Also, the pictures make me laugh when they say parts not shown for clarity, but then I can't work out where the bits go in relation to the missing bits! And then you need to hack part of it because the fret has been made wrong!
  8. Ah, it goes at the loco end! These instructions are pretty impossible, I spend more time trying to work out where something goes than actually building right now!
  9. Tried to take a quick snap, but it's tough to take a phone snap at the right angle to see anything. Hey ho, steps are on anyway.
  10. Thanks Castle, I can understand why you used the comet chassis. I had the same issue when I did the underframe of the K40, it's tough old plastic and very tightly modeled together. It's the battery boxes that cause the real issue, you can't help but damage the struts. Anyway.. Done now. Time to fix it back up with plastic now. The centre strut on both sides was broken long ago, so I'm going to use some microstrip to give it all a little more strength.
  11. I've carved the bottom apart and built the steps. Felt like a lot of work for a couple of steps! When you have instructions like, The 'toe stop' flange is folded with the half etch on the inside, you know it's going to be fun. I'm not going to build the whole underside, looks like a lot of it will mess with the bogies and couplings. Some nice new V hangers, battery boxes and brake section should be good enough.
  12. One box of a lot of bits. This is going to be interesting.
  13. Best wishes to Andy. Take care and take your time.
  14. Callum.. I've really enjoyed your build of this, it's looking amazing! The quick video was also very swish. I'm jealous of how quickly you went from baseboard to completed too. Maybe a little weathing on the locos to tone them down. But good luck on Sunday, I know you are going to get a lot of interest.
  15. Great shots, love the last one. But doesn't it show how badly it needs some people inside!
  16. Thanks. That looks really smart and thanks for showing the coupling, I'm thinking I'll do the same. A very timely post as I'm going to start taking mine sorry shortly.
  17. I felt to complete my two trucks weathering projected I needed to add some coal. I've toned down the frame dirt and now completed both sides. It's not perfect, but better than an old plastic Hornby wagon. Still waiting on plates, the prairie was looking a little clean against my new dirty wagons. So, I added a front lamp and then had a go at dulling it down a little. It's also had some shovels added onto the top too. Certainly more dirty. Looks bigger and more set somehow with some dirt on it. Comments please? First comment.. Really need to get the SLR out. You just don't get the detail with the phone snaps.
  18. I had a play with this a few months ago, but didn't persevere as it was more of a distraction at the time to actually building the layout. This was done with standard stereo speakers, what you can't tell from the video is the big issue with that. The sound doesn't move, even cheapest of TTS sound chips move with the loco. Running a loco out of my fiddle yard, into the station is all at the same volume, so it just didn't quite work for me. To add sections to a layout that doesn't need them for any other reason felt like a huge expense, for no good reason. You also get some very generic sounds, not the high fidelity that come from the DCC sound manufactures. But.... It's certainly worth kicking the tyres and see what you think! What I will add.. With sound on, you drive the loco a little better. Sound the whistle, pull away to match the sound, it does add to the experience. I looked at a guards whistle and a few other sounds too, just all adds to it.
  19. re-downloading the Android version made a youtube box appear in the middle of page 95. But it looks like it's just kind of floating there. The web page link was easier to use.
  20. Smart little improvement that! I'm interested to see your re-paint. I've still got a GWR one on pre-order, hoping they might appear this month.
  21. Thanks for the link and the quick reply. And it's not on my page 95, I did download on the first day.
  22. The GWR truck was a Christmas present from my wife, I gave her a short list of Oxford vehicles that I wanted to start adding some life to the layout. The crates are laser cut from Model Railway Scenery. They are really smart and so easy to build. The smaller ones are good too, but a little more fiddly. These were ideal as a little sofa project. But Bob wasn't happy. How was he going to load that truck without a crane. So he has been petitioning the team at Swindon as if the yard is to be as busy as the roster shows they are going to need a crane. So Swindon delivered and Bob is a happy man.
  23. I also had to tweak the CV2 to quite high, 44 in the end. Otherwise the loco would often move away slightly, a small wheel turn and then stall. Maybe I just need more running in, but this has helped at the moment.
