  1. Another couple of photos of the interior taken from platform 4 found today, circa 1960s !
  2. Nice video and a brave man tackling that brass kit!
  3. Nice looking train Kieran, think you are catching every era!
  4. From an ultra modern MPV to a really old fashioned E,nothing is to complex for the Kirley workbench. Another great conversation, well done
  5. Nice series of photos Kieran and nice model
  6. 49 years ago, I can’t believe I have just said that, NIR purchased their first diesel locomotives, the 3 DH class. Below, DH No.2 is seen heading back to Grosvenor yard with an engineers train. It is seen passing CIE B181 heading back to Dundalk with an empty cement and Guinness train.
  7. Wow Kieran, you only spoke about starting this last week at the Glasgow show and here it is all done and dusted. Great job and I commend you on your bravery to take the razor to such a piece of kit
  8. Great video's Kieran,thanks for sharing
  9. The yard looks well with the shunters looking quite at home
  10. Nice Kieran, always good to see video action from Kirley Junction. The end clip with the sky drop looked very realistic
  11. It was Robert, the Daimler Fleetline buses were ahead of their time and very comfortable. When Citybus was formed in 1973 they invested more in single deck Bristol REs with hard plastic vandal resistant seats, not the most comfortable, but inevitable for the times back then.
  12. It was Kieran, the all clear was given a few minutes later and 'normal' service soon returned. Hard to believe or remember that Belfast Corporation/Citybus sustained damage/loss to more than 2/3rds of their buses during the troubles.
  13. Back again to more memories from the 70s. The troubles were never far away in 70s Belfast, with GVSt being a target for both actual and hoax devices. The 2 photos below show an army Westland Scout helicopter hovering close to the Boyne bridge,as the RUC and army deal with a suspect package on the abandoned Corporation bus on the bridge. All train services have been suspended until the all clear.
  14. Nice finish, the hard work has paid off
  15. Agreed. I was young when steam finished,so I too prefer the early NIR diesel era. The GNR section had the best variety of motive power, only in hindsight do I realise how lucky I was to witness it!
  16. A friend sent me a great old photo of Great Victoria St station, back in its heyday. What a hub of a station it once must have been. Anyway, below are a couple of nostalgic photos of the station from the 60s, with a UG class arriving with a local from Lisburn,a Jeep with a semi fast Dublin service and an AEC railcar. Also present are Corporation and UTA buses passing over the station on the Boyne bridge. Murray's tobacco factory is on the right.
  17. Nice motley batch there Kieran!,great modelling
  18. Nice conversation Kieran, 2 would probably be enough for the Baltic's!!
  19. Going home! It is late Saturday afternoon and NIR DH No2 is returning to Grosvenor goods yard with an empty ballast train having done some upgrade work just outside Portadown. CIE B182 is returning to Dublin with a shoppers special, consisting of a mixture of Cravens,Bredin's and Park Royal coaches. Hopefully the shoppers picked up some good bargains in Belfast!
  20. Nice video and photos, certainly one of the unique GNR loco's
