  1. Hello Colin, I have just come across this thread and spent an enjoyable couple of hours looking through it. A couple of points of interest have you looked at the National Library of Scotland maps collection (site appears to be down at the moment). Also Rail Map online http://www.railmaponline.com/UKIEMap.php?lat=53.53306&lng=-2.38792. One other interesting article that I found as well gives some more info on the route through Southampton http://www.fosjp.org.uk/hist_railway.html. I have also toyed with the idea of a GWR terminus at Southampton using the DN&SR as the basis. My imagined route was from Shawford junction becoming an overbridge an routing through Chandlers Ford crossing the Romsey/Eastleigh railway complete with a junction from the west. The line would then go through Chilworth and Shirley and cross the LSWR close to central station and terminate the other side of the town wall from your proposed location. Connecting with the Romsey line would potentionally allow M&SWJR line trains to terminate there as well. So now you could also add Midland region services maybe a mini pines express. Keith, Dursley
  2. Slowly building Grange Road Box and plan to do several others as well. No problems so far. I also make photo copys of both the instructions and the card sheet for reference. I also need a second GR Box to be used as a basis for Rowfant. Its the same design just sunk into the ground and the stairs turned 90 degrees.

Well done Andy take care and chill out. At the end of the day its your railway do what you want just to please yourself. I do not even have a layout but have been planning the one I want. But have a mind to build a smaller layout to try out things!! I have to admit I do get a lot of inspiration from your current layout and look forward to your next one as well. For my small layout I am thinking of a yard similar to Bridgwater. A yard that is still in regular use. The stock required 2 x Class 20, 31, 37, 47, 57 and 2 x 66 just a couple of Nuclear flask wagons and maybe a couple of engineers wagons. Keith, Dursley

Slightly off topic I always thought copyright was 50 years after the death of the author. For example, next month Sir Winston's published works should become copyright free. Sorry Andy ignore me get back to the Bitton story. I am following the track building with interest and will slowly pluck up the courage to have ago at track building...... Keith HC
  6. Grasshopper still waiting for a video......... Any plans for the layout to come Bristol way in the future. Keith, Dursley
  7. Wow Jason another thread to follow. I am also slowly dabbling with 3D. Anyone out there using Solid Works! On the subject of 3D printers I was at the Bristol Model Engineering show a couple of months ago. The stand that had lots of people looking at was a local company to Thornbury Reprappro https://reprappro.com/ My son-in-law is considering getting one hence my dabbling. All the best. Keith
  8. Looking good when do we get to see the first video. Waiting in anticipation.......... Keith HC

Just to add my penny's worth. Was there a layout based on Warmley a few years ago in The Modeller. Can't remember when must be a few years back as I cannot see it in the on-line archive. But all the best when is the Railway room due to appear? Keith
  12. Just a thought Jason. Have a look at coach construction as done by Boston Largs works. http://bronhebog.blogspot.co.uk/p/carriage-building-guide.html. Although for 009 the same principle should work in 4mm. I am trying it out in 7mm but for narrow gauge. Keith
