  1. I haven't bought one yet as £290 for an all singing all dancing version is rather expensive at the moment - I can't find any details about a 'payment plan' on the website - can you advise the details please ?
  2. I'd like to see an as built Metro-Vick Co-Bo with wraparound windows. And a Fell. There can't be too many Fell diesels on layouts Failing that, a decent Trans-Pennine and 123/124 hybrid must be a good shout
  3. Class 48 was a 47 with a v24 Sulzer engine rather than a standard double bank inline engine. 5 were built this way but were re-engined as 47s as the anticipated benefits were not deemed successful . https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_48
  4. D6122 pictured at Hither Green Jan 28 1968. The loco was moved from store at Inverurie Works to Hither Green in Nov 1967. It was used for rerailing exercises but was withdrawn in late Dec 1967. The RCTS have a photo of it en-route at Crewe.... https://www.rcts.org.uk/popup.htm?img=D6122%20at%20Cewe%20South%20depot%202%20Crewe%20South%2022Oct67&cl=diesels
  5. <Deep Breath> Metro-vick Co-Bo with original wrap around windows ! A peak-district based layout awaits!
  6. Hi guys There have been issues beyond Ted's control that have affected his ability to devote enough time for the past couple of months but we're cracking on again now. I received the Grindleford to Hathersage material last night! Realistically, expect a spring launch and it will be a 'Through Limestone Hills' type of book. The working title is simply "The Hope Valley Line" as Ted felt the more historically accurate title of "Dore & Chinley Railway" would not be as easily recognised by the general public. However the final title is yet to be determined. Watch this space.... Check out my website for other railway book titles that are already available... www.pynotpublishing.co.uk
  7. Marker light covers and air horns plus blanking plates for non-DCC operation. Here's mine.... https://www.dropbox.com/s/wfx4rpmaultap12/File%2021-10-2016%2C%2010%2008%2007%20am.jpeg?dl=0 I should add that this is the original BP, not the re-issue.
  8. Class 25 and saloon near Leawood Tunnel, Cromford. (Leawood Pump in the background).
  9. What a stunning array of boffinery... The British Rail testing engineers pose for a group photo at York towards the end of the high speed testing of the prototype Class 252 HST in the summer of 1973.( Photo : ©traintesting ) http://www.traintesting.com/HST_prototype.htm
  10. Although this track looks epic - as somebody planning to model a post war main line - is there any chance of some decent scale flat bottom rail flexible track please? :-) http://mmrs.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Photo2-BR1-baseplate-Hereford-20031.jpg
  11. A brief interlude - Class 45 hauls the Sheffield stopper... Those with a Facebook account may wish to enjoy the dedicated group : https://www.facebook.com/groups/overthedoreandchinleyrailway/
  12. Locking the door after the horse has bolted as you already have the trackwork, these look exciting.... http://www.ehattons.com/NewsDetail.aspx?id=85 Whilst I have stockpiled a load of code of 100 peco streamline points and peco flexi-track for the fiddle yard on my as yet unstarted layout, I'll certainly be using this new track for the scenic sections. I'm still not 100% as to which prototype to model - I think it's now a coin toss between Monsal Dale for the dramatic scenic diorama or my home station of Dronfield - if only so I can justify running the APT-E I bought (it ran through Dronfield just the once en-route to the NRM in 1976 !)
  13. I was with Glynn and Laurence today on the stand - a shame I couldn't see you for a chat. However, I produce the publications for the Midland Railway Society and the Rowsley Association and can confirm that Ted Hancock's book on the Hope Valley railway is being produced by me at Pynot Publishing. We are striving for an October release but it will be tight But to whet your appetite, all I will say is it will be like the late Bill Hudson's "Through Limestone Hills".... and then some ! I'll post updates on progress when I can.
  14. This is really exciting stuff as somebody that is about to start modelling a Midland Railway line ! Just one question - will the switch blades be of solid rail or pressed metal as per the norm in RTR thus far ? (apologies if this has been mentioned further up the thread!) Cheers
  15. I'm interested in the Derby RTC version of this model - can anyone suggest a suitable consist from available RTR rolling stock, please ?
  16. Thanks Kit Here's a collector's item then - note the paved slab track (P.A.C.T.) under construction.
  17. A quick question to kit - what was the usual route for testing North of Derby, please? I've seen a photo taken of the E train near Duffield and was curious as to how regularly it travelled North and where it went to, especially whether it travelled through my home station of Dronfield.
  18. Has anyone bought one yet? I'm interested in the Kevin Robertson book and whether it is a fresh work or just a rehash of the original book he produced.
  19. Hi - Bill's book is a bit of a bible and I cherish my copy. Here's the inside of the Express Dairy at Rowsley... I guess this is the one to go for... http://Dapol.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=177_60_85_121&product_id=1801
