Sold as in closing down and another retailer using it or sold as in sold the freehold to someone who will then lease it to them.

Sold to another retailer.  111 staff in Teignmouth. Always seem to be top heavy with managers when I go in.  Sometimes I have seen 6 or 7 managers checking stock rotation in one aisle.

Just reported of BBC news that Waitrose profits are up 18%!

.. and the staff bonus is only 3% this year.

In other Waitrose news, their own brand toilet paper which we have bought for several years and found to be of good quality seems to have been changed recently to an inferior paper quality.

Morning all from Estuary-Land. The bin wagons dawn chorus is in full swing, including the one that needs oiling, definitely no sleeping in when thats about. Talking of dawn choruses the sparrows are back in the bushes, it appears that the bushes only received a shave not the full hack and burn.

    Any tickets going spare?;)

Admin, we need a 'perve' button

  4. It appears JL have already signed contracts for the sale of our Waitrose and the Torquay store.  That kind of indicates it has been ongoing a few months.

Lidl has been announced Facebookwide, because someone said I know a staff member who said ..... so I guess we can expect Toolfit or AN Other & Co.

Dry, sunny and windy in sunny Teignmouth today.

I was reading some court matters for Devon yesterday circa 1880's.  Quite a large number of railway staff killed/died whilst on duty in a variety of accidents.

  5. Our Waitrose is to close in June.  Slowly all the offers they did started to vanish in the last year.  I wondered if they were in more trouble than John Lewis made out.

    It opened about 2013.

Apparently being sold to another supermarket.

Morrisons and small Co-op in Teignmouth.

    Sainsburys in Dawlish.

Asda, Sainsburys, Iceland, Tesco, Lidl and soon an Aldi in Newton Abbot.

Any guesses what ours will be? Answers on the back of a till receipt to someone that shives a git.

Shed centre visited and decisions made. Final quote was accepted but I've just had a phone call telling me that in fact another quote will be coming which will be a couple of hundred quid cheaper. Fine by me! Now waiting for that and then I can pay a deposit and get things moving. :D

GDB, will the erection be done for you or can we expect the worst?

Stand at ease Mick no EA intended

Does every programme involve dancing? We have been working our way through a massive box set of an Italian detective series so miss out on a lot of broadcast stuff.

    Tony

I'm not sure.  After several other Worldwide rail tv progs I am fairly railwayed out.  But it does look like he will be wearing a dire range of Hawaiian shirts in every programme.

    Hi John,

    Fantastic layout, wonderfully evocative.

I assume the photo issues you are having are due to a lack of natural light in your attic and getting the camera settings right.  You could try a bit of image processing.  I have taken the liberty of downloading this image...

    TC5.jpg.8763abfb7cc2b5fd7727db9478d7e7f4.jpg.96851414aaf3e99c80ca7a56066b143b.jpg

    ...and tweaking it as follows.

Firstly I have Microsoft Office 2010 installed on my PC and I can open jpeg images using it ("Open with").  There is an auto correct button which yielded this result.

I also have Photo Shop Elements, the cheapo version of Adobe PS, which can also automatically adjust pics and the following image resulted.

Both tweaks I think have improved your image.  If you have access to this sort of software you could give it a try.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Brian.

Spot metering on the smokebox door would have helped improve it.

I always thought double-yellows meant "Park parallel to the kerb" ;)

I think double yellow means "no parking, but if you park with 2 wheels on the pavement it's ok because you aren't really parked, you've just paused." I believe this is a rule that applies to BMW owners only.

  12. Croissant & pain aux raisin have been washed down with a cuppa.  Fortunately I don't get given plans so I have to make my own.  Maybe I will just sit using my tablet, watch some sport or a film whilst the missus does similar. Later a little bit of cooking of dinner and then a repeat of the earlier relaxation techniques.

Freya is wandering around outside.  I know its windy because the empty plastic flowerpot that always gets blown around in the wind has just got blown down the steps for the 2nd time this year. It's like a gauge. I leave it at the top of the steps and if its at the bottom, it was windy.

I would question relative scale of the figures in this last picture. The ModelU figure looks significantly smaller. Assuming ModelU has used the correct scaling ratio, the other figures would appear to be 1/72 or even 1/64 scale. Either that or the ModelU appears to be printed in HO scale. I understand that people vary in body size, height and shape considerably but there seems to be significant overall proportion variance here.

Ken, which of these 3 is 1:64 scale?
