  1. Lucky lucky. I only managed to get three T9s, all of which will remain T9s (although one will lose its superheater). So other members of the Drummond family will have to wait. My biggest frustration so far has been with the Directors. I bought two of them, leaving another two behind. One LNER, one BR, sorted. It was only afterwards that I thought of a use for two more. Too late!
  2. That's certainly a fair comment! The Class 28 is interesting, but great....? Definitely not.
  3. Could we be talking Co-Bo, by any chance?
  4. Even better, make a crossover film. Imagine the Enterprise (whichever version) ordered to investigate yet another anomaly or tear in space/time. Klingons, Romulans or Borg are expected to be this episode's troublemakers, but no! Out of the anomaly emerges a fleet of Star Destroyers, led by an Executor class Star Dreadnought. Multiple special effects ensue, along with the Science Officer's stunned tones: "Captain, there are humans on board those ships, yet if my initial analysis is correct they come from a galaxy far, far away." Joking aside, I seem to recall that someone has actually produced a mash up like this. YouTube would be the place to look, I'd guess, although possibly life's too short. Perhaps we could go for a mega mash up. How did humans come to be on Earth and in that other galaxy? Why their ancestors were fleeing from the Cylons, of course! Cue a second anomaly and a Battlestar.
  5. The Falcon kit sounds good, but my cold heart is set on a full-sized Imperial/Imperator class Star Destroyer (type 1 or 2, I'm not fussy), with a working hyperdrive, full set of armaments and standard complement of landing craft and ground vehicles (to include AT-ATs, naturally), plus a Sith certificate for a Darth name of one's own choosing. I'd even take a Victory class at a pinch. I've said this in another thread, with no offers forthcoming. I promise not to bombard your planet, if that helps (with the standard exclusion clause for rebel scum and Jedi).
  6. So rare that you can still buy the revised kit from South Eastern Finecast, brand new. I've noticed that a number of dealers describe anything kit built (or even old) as rare, and you certainly get the same nonsense in the camera section (including the odd 'rare' Zenith E - yeah, right). It's about time eBay allowed the reporting of deceitful and misleading descriptions.
  7. Love You to Death - Kamelot. Good to see the Mode continuing.
  8. If anyone feels like spending a large sum of money while they're waiting for the mystery to be revealed, I'm sure the Bluebell Railway would welcome a new live steam tea urn for 488. It would have to be a bit bigger than 4mm Scale, though.
  9. I know it's not what you're asking for, and you probably know this already, but if you click 'Forums' at the top of the page you'll see the Contents page. If you scroll down to 'Modelling Zone', and then 'Skills and Knowledge Centre', you'll see 'Modifying RTR'. Click that and work through the topics. It might be faster to use the forum search, up on the right, but there are some really interesting topics - well worth a read.
  10. Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) - The Sisters of Mercy. And while we're at it... Gimme Shelter - The Sisters of Mercy. Apologies to Mick, Keef, Benny, Bjorn, Rugd1022, Metr0Land.
  11. That's What the Wise Lady Said - Angtoria.
  12. If DS239 will forgive me for answering, the lyrics are from "Train" (and indeed "Long Train") by The Sisters of Mercy, back in the days when Andrew Eldritch did really novel and weird things like recording songs and putting out records. He seems to have kicked that habit.
  13. Looking good. 33101 would seem reasonable enough. If anyone fancied a Southern one, what about C1T? Or CT1? Edit: I forgot about the extra axle (0-6-2) or axles (0-6-4). 1CT1? 2CT1? On balance, BR numbering is best! I don't think the cab sides would have been extended down. It would nullify the maintenance advantage of having the injectors and pipework easily accessible, wouldn't it?
  14. I think it's a lovely bit of work, and it looks great. However, is it the right grey? The same applies to the Bachmann version. The usual description is a dark slate grey that weathered almost to black in a few months. I'm not criticising. I'm just interested to know how other people interpret SECR grey.
  15. Love the 'Triang' MN, Sarahagain. No, it isn't the most accurate model, but it is in the spirit of a past age of modelling. I've been looking at some 50s and 60s railway modelling mags recently. It's amazing just how many clever conversions there were. I think all of the LMS taper boiler 4-6-0s were produced from cut about Triang Princesses! I have a Battle of Britain that my Dad made for me when I was very young. It's an Airfix body built around a cut down Triang Princess, complete with spoked wheels (sorry for any heart attacks out there). Is it accurate? No, obviously not. Would some modellers laugh at it? Yes, I imagine they would. Would i dispose of it? NEVER.
  16. Sometimes a prototype feature just doesn't look right on a model. The plan is quite clear about the tanks, but I think they look better the way you've done them, especially with the back of the 4MT. There's definitely a Brighton look. As I said, I like it. Glad to know the dock tank and the Pacific are on the works' order book. I'm going to start my Pacific soon, although I'm a bit of a butterfly (whichever project takes my fancy at any time is what I'll work on), so I expect you'll have a fleet of them before I finish mine. The Pacific and outside cylinder 4-6-4T will both have chain gear, because I'm sure Bulleid would have insisted. That this means far less complicated motion to model is purely coincidence. I might put a photo of my dock tank on RMWeb, but to be honest I think it would receive a lot of criticism. I do like my thought above of a 4-6-0. I've never seen even a hint that Bulleid would have considered one. However, is it too much of a stretch to say that the operating authorities demanded some more S15s, and Bulleid thought we could do better than that? I notice you have a Farish 94xx in another thread. This is getting spooky. Guess what I've been working on recently... I've found it to be a pretty satisfying model for its age. Some of the casting needed rubbing down, especially on the tanks, and the rear splashers are in the wrong place. However, sitting on an old Mainline pannier chassis that I had lying around, it looks the part - an impression rather than finescale. I thought about carefully filing off the moulded metal cab handrails, but life's too short.
  17. I like this. I've long thought about building one, but every time I buy an inevitably cheap Q1 for the purpose I can't bring myself to chop it. I currently have eight of them, and counting. I think I'll end up building the 0-6-4T from plasticard, but I want to have a go at the 4-6-2 and 4-6-4T first. H.A.V Bulleid also mentions 0-6-2T, 2-6-2T and 2-6-4T variants, plus the bizarre 0-6-0 version with casing and two way controls. A 4-6-0 tender version of the 4-6-4T Q1 would look nice, or the 2-6-2 mentioned in the comments, and the two proposed dock tanks are neat (I built the second one a good few years ago, not a great model but it suits me). Is there a disease called Q1-itis? I think the idea of using the back of a 4MT is excellent, and the mock up looks really good. I'm not so sure about the tanks. W5975 shows straight tanks, the top in line with the cab front windows, and the bottom in line with the bottom of the cab. Perhaps you could try trimming the tanks at the bottom rear, and extending them down at the bottom front with plasticard? Or mock it up with card to see what straight tanks would look like? That said, I rather liked the curved tanks, especially with the back of the cab on, and as the loco was never built there's no right or wrong.
  18. Whiskey A-Go-Go - Children on Stun.
  19. "Of Earth and Angels" by Leah (Leah Mchenry), a singer at the folky end of Symphonic Metal. She's described as Symphonic Metal meets Enya, but to me she sounds more like a rockier Sarah McLachlan with a Symphonic Metal edge. The good news is that "Of Earth and Angels" and the EP, "Otherworld", are available as free (legal!) downloads for a limited time. Go to www.leahmchenry.com or www.leahmusic.net for details. Thanks to the Ravenheart website for the original heads up.
  20. Church of No Return - Christian Death.
  21. Good idea, in my opinion - something different. However, does it really matter what anyone else thinks? If you want to build any model for your own pleasure, then that's the only justification you need.
  22. Looks like Welshpool and Llanfair No.14 to me, so Llanfair Caereinion or Raven Square? I'm ashamed to say I've never actually visited the W&L, despite having a love of the 2ft 6in (thanks to the Sittingbourne and Kemsley).
  23. The Balance of Blue - Mandrake.
