One is an original superheated, long travel valve, taper boilered Swindon marvel and the other is a cheap copy knocked up by a cash strapped factory in the Far East (Kent for those of you whose geography ends at Somerset). Like Hornby at their design clever best they missed a pair of small wheels off at the front but they did add a nice pair of (lack of) outside steam pipe camouflage plates next to the smokebox.
At least the impecunious men of Kent did see the light a decade before Donny/Darlo and who knows how long the Midlands may have taken left to themselves.
