  1. Ah! Singapore what a change from Muscat! Still no modelling supplies though. Toilets on A350 OK, long time since my last trip on a voyager.

  2. Just seen the announcement of a GWR Fowler DM. Just when I was thinking of O gauge.
  3. Concrete block and tie bar sleeper track possibly. There is a photo in Iain Rice's book. If any sidings were added during this era this could be a remnant. However this is speculation. By era I mean't WW2 Oakhill
  4. Just one question. Whilst walking the site, I found this: 19.JPG Any ideas? Concrete block and tie bar sleeper track possibly. There is a photo in Iain Rice's book. If any sidings were added during this era this could be a remnant. However this is speculation.
  5. Second hand cast offs from London. Wash your mouth out. as an aside when I first travelled on a 319 from Dorking to Victoria I assume in 1991 I though they were great compared to the 455s which were great compared to the 4EPBs.
  6. Take your old Dean goods and examine the boiler wash out plugs. Then compare this with the Mainline Collet Goods of the same era. The plugs on the DG are simply famtatic The only area that OR have improved upon is below the running plate and the rivets on the same! I have just compared my Mainline on Comet with the photos on this thread. Above the running plate the only thing I see going for the OR version are the rivets on the running plate. These are nice. Below the running plate, OR have improved dramatically on the older model, love the wheel centres / axle ends and the brake pull rods. Inside the cab, the only improvement over the older model is the plank effect, If anyone is watching and there is time for changes, please can we have cab seats and an ATC bell, where appropriate for livery. The safety valve cover seems behind where Bachmann had got to, so please can we have a better representation of the valves inside the cover. The 2500 gal tender looks good. My Mainline on Comet has so far cost over 300 quid, taken 150 hours and still does not run after 6 years fiddling. My just ordered OR one has cost 95 + pp and took 10 mins to buy and will run much better. Oakhill
  7. Oxford Rail are taking a bit of a risk. Hornby could knock up a new chassis quote quickly (no proto research, no laser scans etc) and armed with some new boiler fittings and some Chinese labour to paint the cab fittings they could out manoeuvre this. There was very little wrong with the Airfix DG. Oakhill
  8. Nice wheels make those splashers look very big. It's a bit Airfix Dean goods like. However some 5ft 2in wheels would look awfully nice. Put my name on one please Mr Gibbon La Grange
  9. Thanks for the rating guys. Although a smart**** or kn****ed button seems more appropriate. BTW I have recounted the number of 060T using a different source and added another 10 before it was time for tennis lesson. Many thanks Oak****
  10. Sorry to nit pick, Standards have moved so quickly that I am not convinced that the Bachmann 8750/57xx meets current standards and the Airfix deans goods moulding may be better than the Collet Goods (IMHO). The 4575 is not a model of any of the 100 locomotives to my knowledge and the current versions of the Hall are subject to significant criticisms whenever two modellers gather together. Reading from GWR 150 I get the following additional classes. Bulldogs Dukes Aberdares Mswj 1334 Cambrian 15 and 1196 classes VoR and Alexandria Docks 262T Large prairies with large boilers 2 other types of 240T 15 other types of 062T 21 ( I think) types of 060T ( this includes the condensing pannier) Corris and 3571 042T 4 040Ts Several variations of rail cars Diesel electric No. 2 From that list probably only the Bulldog and some of the large prairie variations are ever likely to appear. Sorry couldn't resist it Oakhill
  11. Please an someone who is / was at Warley or who has seen the photo tell us if the railcar looks right now or if Dapol stopped listening. If I don't pre-order one it will never be manufactured. But given some of the comments I am not ordering if it not going to be right. Oakhill
