  1. Happy Birthday Andy, It’s not Ash Wednesday in the Orthodox calendar here Romania for another month! You’re welcome to drop by for Beer and Cake. No painting required. Paul
  2. I was informed of snippets of the story of 73050’s journey by several members of the NVR who were in the know. Curiously, no-one would explain the entire trip, instead, parts were elaborated on. I recall a comment that a Parcel train was involved at some point, but I have no way of knowing if it was true or what the exact route taken from Newton Heath to Peterborough was? I can imagine a few surprised Signalman and other staff watching the passing of a ‘Ghost’ train! Paul
  3. Hello Jim, I recall seeing the Cardboard Works ‘O’ gauge display at several shows in the East Midlands. Very inspiring. If I can track down the images in my computer storage, I’ll post one of my card creations, if you are interested? The IC loco on the NSR is interesting. After a search on the Interweb found this; https://www.railwaywondersoftheworld.com/diesel-shunters.html Also, within RMweb, High Level kits announced a model for this very locomotive back in 2019. Perhaps they could provide a drawing? Kind regards Paul
  4. Hello Jim, Is the Diesel Shunter one of your card creations? Paul
  5. Thank you for your interest Kirley, Here is my initial list of CAD Drawings and two samples. Drawing List 09022024.docx L2 Not to Scale Sample.PDF M2 CBM021 Not to scale sample.PDF One version is basic and the second has more detail included. Most drawings were originally created for my use, but I am now upgrading these to include as much information as is available. If anyone wishes to contact me for details, please feel free to PM me or use the email on the list. Kind regards Paul
  6. Dear All, Not sure if everyone on this section of RMweb is also on the IRM site? I have a thread on the General Chat section of IRM, with a list and samples of my CAD drawings available. Currently, dominated by the GNRI and CDRJC. I can post the details here as well, if it will be of use? kind regards Paul
  7. You want to take a look at the O gauge streamlined Gresley V2, then? Paul
  8. Looks like RHDR number 4, ‘The Bug,’ on steroids. Lovely work. Paul
  9. Just comparing a similarity, though extreme! Many of the Supermarkets here in Romania have an exit barrier at the Self Service Tills. Paul
  10. I’ve read recently a character did this kind of thing at an Airport in Denmark. Ended up arriving in the USA as a Stowaway. He’s now been convicted and jailed! Paul
  11. I don’t know where the base image was lifted from, but it looks like Belton House, just north of my old home town. Paul
  12. Do they paint the Golden Gate Bridge? I recall a TV documentary that showed the bridge is being continually renewed! Paul
  13. Interesting about the Brunel bridge made from card. I recall an article in maybe RM many years ago of someone building the Saltash bridge from card, as originally designed with double track. Paul
  14. Morning Mike, I had a 1970’s view of the houses in Victoria Street, complete with ice inside the windows, until central heating was installed, then we moved to Denton Avenue a year later. I prefer the current outlook. Paul
  15. In Romania at the moment, there is a big Hoo-Ha about the cost of 3rd Party car insurance. The population are struggling with the concept that a car in a minor prang, can be written off due to the cost of repairs. Bad driving is endemic across all age groups apart from the majority of new drivers. Ironically, major accidents end up on the TV news, but there has been no attempt to clampdown on bad driving. It appears to my British eyes, the local Police are as bad. So, not a good place to start from. Perhaps the big Insurers will have to influence things? Paul
  16. It’s -14 Celsius this morning, but who cares when I have this to look at whilst eating my breakfast. Paul
  17. Andy, As you are opposite shifts, go and treat yourself to a sneaky Take Away! Paul
  18. It could be worse, Dave. You could still be living in the Lincolnshire Fens!!!!! Paul
  19. It’s simple my good Doctor, between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury. If you wish to avoid completely, never travel on the M54! Paul
  20. Andy, Can you volunteer for Overtime on Cleaning Day(s)? Paul
  21. I thought all wife’s took they husbands on holiday just to shift the luggage! Paul
  22. The TT saga! Nice photograph of the Cannon Street turntable, full covered over in 1935. Comparing to the map online, this appears to be the TT outside the locomotive shed to the east of the running lines. Hither Green is shown as opening in 1933. My thoughts are that the second table on the map, to the south west, maybe the TT that is now on the Rother Valley Railway. Paul
  23. Looking at the Side by Side maps on the NLS website, there were two locomotive turntables on the south bank of the Thames opposite Cannon Street. Presumably the Hither Green table is one of these? Paul
  24. I have seen photographs of Doncaster Station, where the turntable in the station area is fully covered over, apparently at the insistence of the N.E.R., for safety reasons? That’s all I know. Paul
